City gears up for Pak-India showdown
Cricket fever is gripping the city as fans eagerly await the highly-anticipated match between Pakistan and India on Sunday. To cater to the excitement, big screens have been installed at various locations across the city to catch the live action from the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 in Dubai.
The Institute of Business Administration (IBA) will set up a big screen at its main campus, while, the Sports Department of the Sindh government will install screens at public spots. Iconic venues such as the Pakistan Beach in Clifton and the Youth Club Gulistan-e-Jauhar will also host big screens, providing fans with an opportunity to watch the arch-rivals clash.
Meanwhile, the Sindh Sports Minister has warned the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) again that if they do not reform its system and provide opportunities to the province's cricketers based on merit, Sindh will be forced to establish its own cricket board.
Addressing the inaugural ceremony of the three-day Ghotki Sports Festival as the guest of honour, Provincial Sports Minister Muhammad Bakhsh Khan Mahar said that Sindh has talented cricketers and there is no shortage of talent in the province. "After the successful organisation of the Champions Trophy, we will try to address the injustices faced by Sindh players."
Mahar maintained that the PCB needs to change its attitude towards Sindh's cricketers. The minister also urged PCB to host Pakistan Super League (PSL) matches in Sindh, including Ghotki, to promote cricket in the province.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has completed internal discussions regarding the white-ball squads for upcoming international assignments, sources confirmed on Thursday. According to insiders, the PCB is waiting for a response from the West Indies Cricket Board (CWI) on a proposal to convert the three-match ODI series into T20 Internationals (T20Is). If approved, the board is expected to announce a joint T20 squad for both the Bangladesh and West Indies series. Sources said that the PCB is hopeful the CWI will agree to the proposed change, as the switch would align better with preparations for the T20-format ACC Men's Asia Cup 2025 and the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026. The squad announcement is expected soon after a formal response is received from the West Indies board. While no major changes are anticipated in the T20 squad, sources indicate that left-arm spinner Sufiyan Muqeem is likely to be included. However, the return of senior players Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, and Shaheen Afridi remains uncertain for the upcoming matches. The PCB's selection committee is hopeful that these senior players will bounce back, taking inspiration from other top players who made successful comebacks in the past. "The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has confirmed that the national selection committee remains intact," the statement read. A PCB spokesperson added, "The Board has only replaced the data analyst, who will have no voting right during team selection. Hassan Cheema has been replaced by Usman Hashmi as the data analyst to assist the selection committee." PCB says national selection committee remains intact
LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has confirmed that the national selection committee remained intact. The PCB spokesman said that the PCB has only replaced the data analyst, who will have no voting right during team selection. Hassan Cheema has been replaced by Usman Hashmi as the data analyst to assist the selection committee, the spokesman added. Aqib Javed, Aleem Dar, Asad Shafiq and Azhar Ali are the current members of the selection committee, which is bound to discuss with Head Coach and Captain of respected formats before finalizing the team.
