"So Proud": Daughter Of Officer Behind Pak Ceasefire Talks Praises "Cool" Father
New Delhi:
Lieutenant General Rajiv Ghai, who played a major role in Operation Sindoor, was honoured with the Uttam Yudh Seva Medal (UYSM) during the Defence Investiture Ceremony 2025 (Phase-II) on June 4. The senior officer, who continues to serve as the Director General of Military Operations (DGMO), was also appointed the Deputy Chief of Army Staff (Strategy) on Monday. The role is among the most critical in the Indian Army, overseeing key verticals, including Operations and Intelligence.
His daughter, Sharan Ghai, has now posted a heartfelt message praising her "cool" father.
"So proud of you, Dad," Ms Ghai wrote. "Glad to see everyone's finally realising just how cool you are. We've known it all along. Love you, @RgGhai, can't wait to see the amazing things you achieve next."

The Uttam Yudh Seva Medal is a high wartime military honour awarded for exceptional service during conflict or hostilities. It is the wartime counterpart of the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal and is open to all ranks of the armed forces, including auxiliary, reserve, and nursing staff, for outstanding operational leadership and distinguished service.
Lt Gen Ghai played a key role in Operation Sindoor, a military offensive launched in response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 people. The operation targeted nine terror bases across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) and killed over 100 terrorists.
During the strikes, Pakistan's DGMO called Lt Gen Ghai, reportedly pleading for a ceasefire. Mr Ghai later described India's response using the phrase "Ashes to Ashes" to explain how the country's air defence neutralised threats.
Earlier this year, he visited Manipur to assess the security situation along the Indo-Myanmar border, reviewing infrastructure and coordination with state officials. A seasoned officer from the Kumaon Regiment, Mr Ghai also led the Chinar Corps in Jammu and Kashmir before assuming the DGMO role in October 2024.

Jairam slams US invite to Pak Army chief, calls it diplomatic setback for India
New Delhi, June 12 (UNI) Amid reports that Pakistan Army Chief Gen Asim Munir has been invited for the US Army Day on June 14, senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh on Thursday termed it a "major diplomatic and strategic setback" for India. Taking to X, Ramesh questioned the United States' intent, pointing out that General Munir is the same person who made provocative remarks shortly before the Pahalgam terror attack. He also criticised the recent remarks by the US Central Command chief, who described Pakistan as a "great partner" in counter-terrorism efforts. "The Modi government is saying that Operation Sindoor is still underway; in such a situation, the participation of the Pakistani Army Chief as a guest at the US Army Day event is undoubtedly a matter of serious concern," Ramesh said. The Rajya Sabha MP further said, 'The Trump administration is consistently making statements that can only be interpreted to mean that the US is viewing India and Pakistan through the same lens. The Prime Minister has only recently welcomed the delegation that had briefed the global community, including the United States, on Pakistan's involvement in supporting terrorism, yet simultaneously, reports from Washington DC are surfacing that further undermine India's diplomatic standing." Ramesh demanded that Prime Minister Narendra Modi shed his "obstinacy and prestige", and immediately convene an all-party meeting and a special session of Parliament to present a unified national stance and chalk out a clear roadmap. 'Decades of diplomatic progress cannot be easily undermined,' he added. UNI RBE PRS

India foiled 2L cyber-attacks on Power infrastructure in the recent Indo-Pak conflict: Union Minister Khattar
Srinagar, June 12 (UNI) Union Power Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Thursday said that India successfully thwarted nearly two lakh cyber attacks targeting its power infrastructure during the recent Indo-Pak conflict. Addressing a press conference marking the completion of 11 years of the Narendra Modi government, Khattar said, "Cyber security is now the biggest threat facing not only India but the entire world." He said that there was growing frequency of cyber attacks and cyber crimes. "A significant amount of work has been done in this domain. Today, our cyber security systems are robust enough to counter such threats effectively," he said Khattar revealed that a wave of cyber attacks was launched against Indian Power infrastructure following the commencement of Operation Sindoor—an offensive targeting terror camps across the border. "Specifically in the power sector, around two lakh cyber attack attempts were recorded. However, our cyber security teams neutralized each one of them, ensuring that no damage was caused anywhere in the country," he said. Highlighting the capabilities of Indian scientists and security experts, the Union Minister remarked that the nation now possesses the expertise to defend against such sophisticated threats, which, he warned, can originate from any part of the world. Touching upon developments in Jammu and Kashmir, Khattar added, "Following the abrogation of Article 370, there is now a growing sense of unity. The people of Jammu and Kashmir, along with the rest of the country, increasingly believe they are one nation." UNI MJR GNK

Ramesh referred to Munir's alleged provocative remarks ahead of the Pahalgam terror attacks and asked, 'What is the US really up to?' He called it a 'huge diplomatic setback' for India. Ramesh also criticised the US Central Command chief Gen Michael Kurilla's statement calling Pakistan a 'phenomenal partner' in counter-terrorism.
