ISWK Womens triumph as Women's League 2024-25 Champions!
Building on the momentum from previous seasons, the 2024-25 Women's League saw an unprecedented number of teams for the second consecutive season, reflecting OC's commitment to promoting women's cricket. The league featured eight teams, divided into two groups, competing with zeal and sportsmanship. The teams included ISC MKW, ISWK Women's, Muscat Women's, OCA Women's, Pakistan Women's, Womens Cricket Sohar, SLSM Women, and Team Ghubra. The Semi Finals was played between ISWK Women's and Pakistan Women's while ISC MKW faced Women's Cricket Sohar. Both ISWK Women's and ISC MKW were unbeaten before the finals, ISWK Women's claiming the title unbeaten.
In the finale, ISWK Women's scored 146 for 2 in their 20 overs courtesy Jayadhanya Gunasekar's 69 of 63 and Disha Kumar's run-a-ball 43. ISC MKW managed to close in but couldn't finish well as Suhaani Dadhwal scored 62 of 52 but got out in the 16th over. ISC MKW ended up on 136 for 10 falling short by 10 runs.
In the prize distribution, Mr. Varun Khimji, Board Advisor – Oman Cricket and Mr. Duleep Mendis, Chief Development Officer - Oman Cricket handed the accolades. Jayadhanya Gunasekar was adjudged Best Batter, Disha Kumar was adjudged Best Bowler and Priyanka Mendonca was adjudged Player of the Tournament.
The success of this season aligns with OC's #Cricket4Her initiative, launched in October 2023, aimed at fostering women's cricket through coaching, competition, commitment, and community engagement. This initiative has been instrumental in increasing participation and elevating the standard of women's cricket in Oman.

Oman set to face cricket heavyweights India and Pakistan in UAE
Muscat – Oman will take a historic step in their cricket journey this September when they make their maiden appearance in the 2025 Men's Asia Cup, to be staged in the UAE from September 9 to 28. Drawn in Group A alongside defending champions India, Pakistan and hosts UAE, the national team players, under head coach Duleep Mendis, will get a rare opportunity to test themselves against some of the biggest names in world cricket. The eight-team tournament to be played in T20I format features the five ACC full-member nations – India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Afghanistan – along with three Associate qualifiers – UAE, Oman, and Hong Kong. Oman booked their berth by finishing as runners-up in the 2024 ACC Men's Premier Cup, a strong campaign that underscored the side's growing reputation in Asian cricket. Oman have also built an impressive record in the shortest format on the global stage, being the only associate Asian team having qualified for the ICC Men's T20 World Cup three times – in 2016, 2021 and 2024 – with their 2016 debut highlighted by a memorable win over Ireland. For Mendis, the Asia Cup is a landmark opportunity his players must fully embrace. 'This is a wonderful opportunity for Oman to play in the Asia Cup alongside Test-playing nations,' said the Sri Lankan great. Kulkarni named as deputy head coach of Oman Cricket
Muscat: Oman Cricket (OC) appointed Sulakshan Kulkarni as the Deputy Head Coach of the Oman Men's Cricket Team. A seasoned cricketing mind and former first-class cricketer, Kulkarni brings with him over two decades of elite coaching experience and a deep understanding of the game, having contributed significantly to Indian domestic cricket and International assignments. A former Mumbai stalwart, Kulkarni played first-class cricket from 1985 to 2002, sharing the dressing room with legends such as Sunil Gavaskar and Sachin Tendulkar. He also boasts an illustrious record with seven Ranji Trophy and Irani Cup titles with Mumbai, as a player and coach then. He was also named among the probable squad in India's 1987 World Cup squad. His coaching portfolio spans across top Indian domestic teams including Mumbai, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Tamil Nadu, and Maharashtra. Under his guidance, Mumbai lifted both the Ranji Trophy and the Deodhar Trophy, while West Zone emerged victorious under his strategic leadership. Sulakshan, a gritty batter and a elite coach, has played a pivotal role in shaping the careers of numerous international stars such as Rohit Sharma, Ajinkya Rahane, Suryakumar Yadav, Cheteshwar Pujara, and Avishkar Salvi. In 2018, he also served as the Batting Consultant for Nepal, during the ICC World Cup Qualifiers Division II, where Nepal secured ODI status for the first time in its history. With over 20 years of coaching experience for National, International and IPL teams, Sulakshan Kulkarni's appointment underscores Oman Cricket's commitment to building a strong and competitive team structure with solid backroom staff led by Duleep Mendis ahead of key international fixtures such as the ICC EAP Asia Qualifier Final and the on-going cycle of the ICC CWC League 2, both of which are a step to the T20 World Cup 2026 and Cricket World Cup 2027 respectively.
