Most of the defendants are in their 60s and 70s, who walk with orthopaedic shoes and a cane to assist. Out of the original 12 suspects who entered her hotel room, one died, and another defendant has Alzheimer's disease and, hence, was ruled unfit to stand trial.

Ludhiana: A Ludhiana shoe trader who survived a shooting attack last year has accused another armed assailant of attempting to kill him, alleging the plot was again orchestrated by jailed gangster Rishav Benipal. Gurvinder Singh Prinkle, 33, said a man carrying a pistol entered his Chandigarh Road shop on Thursday, minutes after he left, and threatened his workers before leaving.
