Since putting together an impressive rookie campaign with the Washington Commanders, Jayden Daniels has become a hot commodity in the NFL. Ahead of his sophomore season, one key member of the organization showed just how much faith he has in the young quarterback.
The Commanders drafted Daniels second overall in 2024, and it was a decision that quickly altered the trajectory of the franchise. He quickly took the league by storm, leading Washington all the way to the conference championship as a rookie.
Since his impressive debut, the hype for Daniels has gone through the roof. Despite the small sample size, many are already crowning one of the top quarterbacks in the league. Now on a path towards stardom, Commanders owner Josh Harris paid a massive investment in Daniels.

This weekend, Fanatics is holding its "Fanatic Fest" in New York City. There are countless notable names in attendance, including Harris and Daniels. In the midst of the festivities, Harris managed to send the crowd into a frenzy with a sizable purchase. He stepped up and bought a rare one-of-one card of Daniels for half a million dollars. Per Fanatics, it is the largest sale of any card of his to date.
Washington Commanders owner Josh Harris bought the Jayden Daniels Prizm Black Finite 1/1 for $500,000. This makes it the most expensive Jayden Daniels card sale ever. 🤯

Harris was the leader of the investment group that purchased the Commanders from Dan Snyder back in 2023 for over six billion dollars. This added to his portfolio in the sports world, as he also holds ownership stakes in the Philadelphia 76ers (NBA) and New Jersey Devils (NHL). Seeing that the Commanders were just one win away from being in the Super Bowl last year, purchasing the franchise has served to be a good investment.

Daniels already had lofty expectations to meet heading into this season, and the stakes have only gotten higher. After paying a massive amount for the card, Harris will want to see the value increase due to continued strong play.
Looking ahead to the 2025 campaign, Daniels is a player many will have their eyes on. He showed the potential to be a future superstar in the league and now is tasked with avoiding a sophomore slump. The front office did its part in trying to prevent him from taking a step back, adding multiple new weapons around him.
Based on his recent actions, Harris has all the confidence in Daniels to keep leading the charge for the franchise.

Bears QB Caleb Williams joins anti-Packers chant at Summer Smash

Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams has made his feelings known about the Green Bay Packers, where he recently discussed why Packers fans "suck" after Chicago's last-second win at Lambeau Field back in January. There's no love lost between the Bears and Packers fanbases -- especially now that it looks like this is a rivalry again -- and it's always fun when your team's players gets into the fun. And Williams is continuing to give Bears fans even more reasons to love him. Advertisement During Summer Smash, a hip hop festival just outside of Chicago, an anti-Packers chant -- "F--- Green Bay" -- broke out, and Williams was spotted among the crowd chanting along. Williams has gotten off to an encouraging start against the Packers, as he went 1-1 during his rookie season. That included a 24-22 win at Lambeau Field in the regular-season, where Williams led the game-winning drive. Williams should be undefeated against Green Bay after leading what should've been another game-winning drive at Soldier Field in Week 11, but Cairo Santos' potential game-winning field goal was blocked. Williams will get two more chances to beat the Packers this season, but he'll have to wait as Chicago and Green Bay won't play each other until December, where they'll face off twice in three weeks. Kevin Durant says he loves leadership in Houston, very happy with trade to Rockets

'They had a great season last year,' said Durant, who is close with Rockets head coach Ime Udoka. 'I love their leadership. I felt like I would be a good addition.' In an interview shortly after his trade was reported by ESPN's NBA insider Shams Charania, All-Star forwrd Kevin Durant said he is 'very happy' and 'looking forward' to being part of the Houston Rockets. Durant found out about the blockbuster trade while on stage at Fanatics Fest in New York. Shortly after leaving the stage, Durant spoke with reporter Kay Adams, who asked about his desire to join the Rockets. 'They had a great season (52-30, No. 2 in the Western Conference) last year,' said Durant, who has long respected head coach Ime Udoka. 'I love their leadership. I felt like I would be a good addition.' 'Crazy, crazy last couple weeks, but I'm glad it's over with,' Durant continued. 'I had an idea, but I didn't know exactly when it was gonna happen. I'm glad we kind of did this on stage, it worked out.' 'When people can just hang your career in the balance, and just choose what they wanna do with your career... it's a nerve-wracking feeling. But being able to kind of dictate what you want to do, and being with a team that values you, I'm looking forward to it.' Durant said he 'most definitely' had a hand in the trade, and he hopes it works out for both Houston and his former franchise in Phoenix. 'They got what they wanted, and I got what I wanted, so we can move on,' Durant said of the Suns. 'Good luck to them moving forward. I'll always remember my time there, but we're on to something else.' More: Rockets trade for Kevin Durant in deal involving Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks, draft equity

Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro says there will be no state money for sports venues

Two NFL teams call Pennsylvania home. Neither should consider calling Pennsylvania when it's time to finance stadium renovation or construction for their home stadiums. Via the Associated Press, Governor Josh Shapiro made it clear on Sunday that state money will not be available to sports teams. 'I'm very worried about the overall budget,' Shapiro said Sunday before a NASCAR Cup Series event at Pocono Raceway. 'I'm very worried about the overall economic situation given the federal cuts. You want to balance investing in tourism, investing in sports, investing in great arenas and facilities, with making sure that you're also investing those dollars in things that Pennsylvanians need most.' And, in Shapiro's view, Pennsylvanians don't have a pressing need for sports. He nevertheless wants sports — and more of them — in Pennsylvania. 'I will tell you that we want to make sure the Steelers, we want to make sure the Eagles, and all of our pro teams have outstanding places to play,' Shapiro said. 'That are welcoming for fans. That generate revenue. We're going to continue to dialog with them about what they need and what's possible.' There's been a presumption for years that, because members of the public attend sporting events, there's an obligation by their state and local governments to help pay for the venue. Does that happen when someone builds a store that members of the public? A theater? The key words Shapiro used are 'generate revenue.' Sports stadiums generate plenty. More than enough to pay for themselves. Sure, that might result in less profit. But so what? If there's enough profit to justify the investment, that should be good enough. Sports teams aren't entitled to unlimited profit via taxpayer subsidies. The Steelers, who opened their current stadium in 2001, aren't currently angling for a replacement. The Eagles have begun the process of considering whether to renovate Lincoln Financial Field or to replace it. Whatever the approach on either side of the Commonwealth, the two teams have one thing in common. State money won't be available, for as long as Shapiro is in office. Elected in 2022, Shapiro can run again in 2026. So it's possible that the policy won't change before 2030. At the earliest.
