Five NFL games we can't wait to watch in the 2025 season
The NFL schedule for the 2025-2026 season has been released. Here are a few games on our must-watch list.
The 2025 NFL regular season schedule is officially out.
The schedule features several thrilling rematches from the previous season. Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens go to Buffalo after the Bills bounced them out of the playoffs last year. The defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles travel to Kansas City to square off against the Chiefs in a Super Bowl 59 rematch. The Detroit Lions face a Washington Commanders club that sent them packing in the divisional round.
Sometimes, revenge is the best remedy. This year's NFL slate has plenty of games where teams can get retribution from a year ago.
USA TODAY Sports explores the top five revenge games during the 2025 regular season.
NFL revenge games in 2025
Week 1 (Sept. 7): New York Jets vs. Pittsburgh Steelers, 1:00 p.m. ET
Week 1 features what could be a battle of exes.
Justin Fields gets to go against a Steelers team that chose Russell Wilson over him despite going 4-2 as a starter.
If Aaron Rodgers signs with the Steelers, it'll mark the first time Rodgers faces the Jets since their bitter breakup.
First-year Jets head coach Aaron Glenn wants to prove he made the right choice at quarterback.
Assuming Rodgers is the Steelers quarterback, the reaction he receives from the MetLife Stadium crowd will be interesting. Rodgers was hailed as a savior when he was traded to the Jets in 2023, but his time in the Big Apple was a failure.
Week 1 (Sept. 7): Baltimore Ravens at Buffalo Bills ("Sunday Night Football"), 8:20 p.m. ET
The NFL is coming in hot Week 1.
Lamar Jackson holds a 3-5 career playoff record. Jackson and the Ravens' most recent postseason loss might've been the most frustrating. Baltimore turned the football over three times, and Mark Andrews dropped a routine catch on what would've been a game-tying two-point conversion in a mistake-filled loss to the Bills.
Jackson and the Ravens return to Buffalo for the first Sunday Night game of the regular season, a battle that features the past two league MVPs. Jackson is 3-1 versus Josh Allen and the Bills in the regular season. But Allen is 2-0 against Jackson and the Ravens in the postseason. This game could have playoff-seeding implications. Based on Baltimore's recent playoff history, the team should aim to get the AFC's top seed.
Week 2 (Sept.14): Kansas City Chiefs vs. Philadelphia Eagles, 4:25 p.m. ET
The Chiefs got the better of Philadelphia in Super Bowl 57. The Eagles got revenge in Super Bowl 59. The stakes won't be as high in Week 2, but the Chiefs can get some level of retribution in the comfy confines of Kansas City.
Patrick Mahomes was sacked a career-high six times and pressured on 17 occasions by the Eagles stout defense in Super Bowl 59. As a result, Kansas City spent much of its offseason revamping its offensive line. This game provides a measuring stick for the Chiefs' new-look O-line – and you know Mahomes and the Chiefs seek vengeance after the Eagles spoiled their historic three-peat bid.
Week 3 (Sept. 21): Philadelphia Eagles vs. Los Angeles Rams, 1:00 p.m. ET
Saquon Barkley is still running all over the Rams. The Eagles running back compiled 460 rushing yards and four rushing touchdowns in two games (including playoffs) versus Los Angeles last season. Two performances that might've contributed to nightmares.
The Rams had the worst run defense in the NFC West and ranked 22nd against the run in the NFL. Despite Barkley running through them, the Rams pushed the eventual Super Bowl champs to the brink in the divisional round of the playoffs. Now the Rams are armed with Davante Adams instead of Cooper Kupp and a more experienced defense that stars 2024 NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year, Jared Verse.
Week 10 (Nov. 9): Washington Commanders vs. Detroit Lions, 4:25 p.m. ET
The Commanders turned off the music in Motown in the divisional round of the playoffs last season. After tallying a franchise record 15 wins during the regular season, the Lions were the NFC's top team, but rookie sensation Jayden Daniels passed for 299 yards, two touchdowns and rushed for 51 yards in the stunning 45-31 victory.
Washington outscored Detroit 28-14 in the second quarter — the highest-scoring quarter in NFL postseason history.
The Lions' defense was ravaged by injuries last year, which played a role in their demise. They lost both coordinators to head coaching positions this offseason but return most of their core pieces – and with good luck a healthy defense. Aidan Hutchinson, one of the defenders who missed the playoff loss due to injury, and the Lions defense will be motivated for a different outcome against the Commanders.

New York Giants' Evan Neal earns first-team reps at guard during OTAs New York Giants offensive lineman Evan Neal is getting one final shot to prove his worth to the team that drafted him. The No. 7 overall pick from the 2022 NFL draft has had a tumultuous start to his career, battling injuries and poor play while trying to establish himself as the starting right tackle. After the Giants declined the fifth-year option in his rookie contract this offseason, Neal is running out of chances to secure a long-term roster spot. After spending the first three years of his career working at the right tackle position, the Giants are giving the Alabama product a shot at competing for one of the guard spots, which is currently up for grabs alongside a pair of veterans. During Thursday's practice at organized team activities (OTAs), Neal was seen taking the majority of first-team reps at left guard with Greg Van Roten and Jon Runyan Jr. sidelined during team drills. Neal was part of the first draft class that Schoen had as general manager of the Giants in 2022 alongside Kayvon Thibodeaux, who was the No. 5 overall pick in that draft. The former hasn't had much success at the NFL level since arriving so it's fair to say this is a make-or-break season for the 24-year-old. With Jermaine Eluemunor coming over last offseason in free agency, Neal wound up playing the fewest snaps of his career at right tackle (456). Though he excelled as a run blocker, he allowed 17 total pressures, including two sacks and five QB hits on 314 pass-blocking snaps, per Pro Football Focus. Neal is set to be a free agent following the 2025 season so if there's a chance he can carve out a role as an interior offensive lineman, it may just be what saves his career.

How many of the biggest blowouts in NFL history have the Rams been involved in? The NFL has produced a lot of memorable games throughout its history, from thrilling Super Bowls to high-scoring regular-season games like the epic Rams-Chiefs shootout in 2018. There have also naturally been some major duds where one team blows the doors off their opponent and wins in lopsided fashion. Those aren't the most exciting games to watch and are certainly forgettable for fans of the losing side, but some of those victories come with record-setting performances – so there are some memorable aspects to them. Sam Robinson of Yardbarker recently ranked the 30 biggest blowouts in NFL history (since 1960) and we checked to see how many games the Rams were involved in. It turns out they've played four of the most lopsided games ever, three being shutouts. They were on the wrong side in two of them and the winning squad in two others. 2008: Jets 47, Rams 3 1987: 49ers 48, Rams 0 2014: Rams 52, Raiders 0 1976: Rams 59, Falcons 0 Their 48-0 loss to the San Francisco 49ers in 1987 remains the worst loss in franchise history, getting crushed two days after Christmas by their rivals en route to a 6-9 season. The 49ers were 13-2 that year but at least the Rams can take solace in the fact that they were one-and-done in the playoffs, losing to the Vikings in the first round. On the other side, the Rams have two of the most lopsided victories since 1960, beating the Raiders 52-0 in 2014 under Jeff Fisher and the Falcons, 59-0, in 1976. In that win over the Falcons, the Rams outgained Atlanta, 569-81, an eye-popping line that shows just how dominant Los Angeles was in the victory. The Rams had nearly as many yards (80) on Dwight Scales' touchdown catch in the fourth quarter as the Falcons had in the entire game (81).
