June 17 - Trea Turner slugged a home run among his three hits and drove in two runs as the visiting Philadelphia Phillies opened a four-game series against the Miami Marlins with a 5-2 victory on Monday.
Max Kepler also homered for Philadelphia, which has won five straight and six of its last seven. Alec Bohm had two hits, including a two-run single in the ninth inning.

The Phillies took a 1-0 lead two pitches into the game on Turner's 406-foot blast against Sandy Alcantara (3-8). The homer was Turner's eighth this season.
Miami pulled even in the second inning. After Kyle Stowers tripled with one out, Eric Wagaman struck out and Liam Hicks walked before Connor Norby singled in a run.
Philadelphia regained the lead on Kepler's ninth homer of the season, a one-out shot in the fourth inning.
Alcantara allowed two runs on five hits over five innings. He walked one and struck out five while throwing 100 pitches.
The Phillies tacked on another run in the seventh inning against Valente Bellozo when Brandon Marsh hit a one-out triple and scored on Turner's single.
Miami cut the lead to 3-2 in the eighth after putting two runners on with no outs. Otto Lopez hit a force out to shortstop before a run scored on Agustin Ramirez's sacrifice fly.
With the bases loaded and two outs in the ninth, the Phillies added a pair of insurance runs on Bohm's single against Cade Gibson.

'Same old, same old but Delap looks a good buy' - fans on CWC opener

We asked for your views on Chelsea's opening Club World Cup match against Los Angeles FC in are some of your comments:Thabiso: Same old problems - ponderous build-up, flimsy press and panicky defence. On the plus side, Liam Delap looks like the menace up front we have been crying out A bit lethargic but this was only a group game. Noni Madueke was poor, but Nicolas Jackson and Delap looked good, and Cole Palmer and Pedro Neto linked up well together. We need to improve as the tournament progresses but let's not forget this is also part of our pre-season, so rotation and resting will be part of the overall Same old, same old. Palmer carrying the rest of the average bunch. Delap looked good for the minutes he got, but still no spark of excitement for the fans. We need to up our game Chelsea were pretty good after they settled down. While every Chelsea fan wants them to win every game and fixture, Neto is showing how good he is and Palmer seems to be coming out of his shell. Things can only get better (we hope).Ron: We are still too slow and deliberate in our build-up from defence to attack. Still don't agree with our style of play but Delap looks like a good buy. He makes good runs off the ball, which help to open up well set up defences. Looking forward to seeing some more of the new youngsters, but feel we need another strong central defender and Loved the energy Delap brought to the game when he came on. Great movement and touch to put Enzo Fernandez in for his goal. Very excited about this signing!Gary: I thought we were very flat against a poor side. We still need a world-class forward and a goalkeeper just to get us closer to the top three, but will we address those positions?Nick: We were only troubled occasionally, when playing sloppily and losing concentration. Neto was the clear man of the match but Flamengo will be a tougher game for us on Friday.

Manchester City vs Wydad Casablanca prediction: Expect goals from City and Haaland in Club World Cup opener

Manchester City vs Wydad Casablanca tips: Manchester City kick off their World Club Cup campaign on Wednesday against Moroccan side Wydad Casablanca in Philadelphia at 5pm BST. This is City's first of three matches in Group G, which also includes UAE side Al Ain and Italian giants Juventus, who you would expect to be battling it out for top spot with City. The top two sides from each group qualify for the knockout stages so the route to the latter stages should be relatively easy for Pep Guardiola's men. We saw from the Uefa competitions this season just how competitive the Premier League is, with Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur meeting in the Europa League final, despite enduring torrid league campaigns. For City, the season was largely one to forget, but six wins from their last seven games saw them finish third in the table, albeit 13 points behind the champions Liverpool. Wydad also finished third in their respective league, which was won by RSB Berkane who finished 16 points ahead. Football betting sites have City as the third favourite to lift the trophy in July, at 11/2 in the last Club World Cup odds, but you can get 9/2 on favourites Real Madrid and 5/1 on Paris Saint-Germain following up their recent Champions League success. Manchester City vs Wydad Casablanca betting: City back with a bang After a disappointing and at times frustrating season, manager Guardiola has rung the changes both on and off the pitch, with four new players coming in and a new assistant manager named in the form of former Liverpool assistant Pep Lijnders. Midfielders Tijjani Reijnders and Rayan Cherki, left-back Rayan Ait-Nouri and keeper Marcus Bettinelli, have all come in, were named in City's 27-man squad and should feature. Rodri is also in the squad and will continue his return to full fitness after missing most of last season with a cruciate ligament injury. The best odds that betting sites are offering on a City win on Wednesday is 1/10 while you can get 33/1 on a Wydad Casablanca win and 10/1 on a draw. It feels like all eyes will be on how many the Premier League side can win by rather than anything else and you can get 11/1 on a 5-0 win. Manchester City vs Wydad Casablanca prediction: Haaland to be back amongst the goals He's scored 42 goals for club and country since August 2024, including three goals in his last three games so Erling Haaland will be ready to hit the ground running in the US. Betting apps are offering 9/4 on him scoring first or 2/1 to score last but he has a good habit of scoring more than once per game, something he has done 37 times since arriving in Manchester. Manchester City vs Wydad Casablanca prediction 2: Haaland to score two or more - 21/10 Betfred Please gamble responsibly When having a bet, it's vital to practice responsible gambling. Betting can be addictive and it's important to stay in control of your betting. Never treat gambling as a way to make money, never bet more than you can afford and when the fun stops, stop. Gambling sites offer punters tools, like deposit limits, profit and loss trackers and self-exclusion options, to help them stay in control. But if you ever feel like you need help or advice on gambling addiction, don't hesitate to contact one of the charities or organisations below.
