Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodríguez are engaged. What we know so far about the massive ring that's estimated to be worth 7 figures
Portuguese soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo and Argentine model Georgina Rodríguez announced their engagement on Monday after eight years of dating. The bride-to-be shared the momentous news in an Instagram post, with a photo of her massive sparkler of an engagement ring and the caption, written in Spanish: 'Yes, I do. In this and in all my lives.' The post has since broken the internet, with over 11.3 million likes as of Tuesday morning.
The official details of Rodríguez's bling, like the number of carats and how much it's worth, have yet to be revealed by the power couple and their unknown jeweler, but that hasn't stopped jewelry experts from weighing in.
Here's what we know so far about the 'four C's' (cut, clarity, color and carat) of the impressive diamond ring:
What kind of cut is the diamond?
Abdulla BelJafla, creative director of Gafla, who shared his insight with Vogue Arabia, said the main diamond in the center is an oval-cut, which maximizes its brilliance. 'A perfectly proportioned oval (with a 1.30–1.50 length-to-width ratio) offers symmetry on the hand,' he told the magazine. 'While many ovals exhibit the subtle 'bow-tie effect,' this piece appears to have exceptional light dispersion, minimizing it entirely.'
How many estimated carats are there?
Rodríguez's oval-cut diamond ring is approximately 37 carats in total, according to jewelry experts.
The center oval stone weighs about 35 carats, Tobias Kormind, the managing director of 77 Diamonds in London, told People. He believes the center stone is flanked by oval stones on the sides, about one carat each, set in platinum.
BelJafla also assessed the stunner to be about 37 carats total and estimated the center diamond to be "between 22 and 30 carats," he told Vogue Arabia.
Let's get down to brass tacks. How much do we think this ring is worth?
It's estimated to be worth seven figures.
'If the diamond is natural and of exceptional quality in the D-F color range with flawless or near-flawless clarity, its value could easily exceed around $2 million," Laura Taylor, engagement ring specialist at Lorel Diamonds, told People.
Meanwhile, Kormind estimates that Rodríguez is carrying around a $5 million ring on her finger.
'Experts value the ring between U.S. $4 million and U.S. $5 million,' BelJafla told Vogue Arabia, 'given the size, flawless clarity, and D color of the stones. … A ring like this is quite rare if it's a natural diamond.'
What else do we know about the engaged couple?
Ronaldo, 40, and Rodríguez, 31, have been together for eight years. They have a total of four children together: twins Eva Maria and Mateo, 8 (born via surrogacy); daughter Alana, 7; and daughter Bella, 3. Ronaldo also has a 15-year-old son, Cristiano Jr., from a previous relationship. The couple previously announced the death of Bella's twin brother, Ángel, in April 2022.

Now that's a big rock — what we know about Cristiano Ronaldo's gigantic engagement ring
Cristiano Ronaldo has proposed to his longtime girlfriend with a massive diamond engagement ring. The footballer's girlfriend, Argentine-Spanish model Georgina Rodriguez, announced the engagement in a Monday post on Instagram. She posted a picture of her hand with long, manicured nails — and a huge ring. Rodriguez captioned the post, "I do. In this and all my lives," written in Spanish. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Georgina Rodríguez (@georginagio) The central oval-shaped diamond was flanked on either side by two smaller diamonds. Anya Walsh, a jewelry specialist at London-based retailer 77 Diamonds, told The New York Times that she estimates the ring's weight was around 35 carats and costs at least $5 million. Ronaldo and Rodriguez have been dating since 2016. They met when Ronaldo walked into a Gucci store in Madrid, where Rodriquez, now 31, worked as a retail assistant. They share two daughters and raise them with Ronaldo's three children from a previous relationship. Their son, a twin of their younger daughter, was stillborn at birth. Ronaldo, 40, is a Portuguese football player who is the captain and forward of the Portuguese national team and Saudi Arabia's Al-Nassr Football Club. Before joining Al-Nassr, he played for numerous other football clubs, including Real Madrid, Manchester United, and Juventus.

Why Cristiano Ronaldo's Engagement Raised Eyebrows in Saudi Arabia
It was hardly a surprise that the engagement announcement of Cristiano Ronaldo, the global soccer superstar, was accompanied by a photograph of a diamond the size of a jumbo olive. The location tagged in the Instagram post, however — published by his partner of nine years, the model and influencer Georgina Rodríguez — raised eyebrows. The photo of her bedazzled hand was not shared from Paris, Bora Bora or Dubai, but from Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The capital of the conservative Islamic kingdom is not generally known as a place where globe-trotting couples flock to celebrate their romances. A decade ago, the religious police roamed the city streets hunting for unmarried couples and shouting at women to cover their hair. Sex outside of marriage was, until recently, punishable by flogging. Even as fans celebrated the new engagement, the announcement highlighted the fact that the couple were not married and had been living with their children in the Saudi city for two years. Riyadh is where one chapter of Ronaldo's unmarried bliss has played out, after he moved here in 2022 under a hefty contract to play for the Saudi soccer team Al Nassr. He was joined in the city by Ms. Rodríguez and their children. Want all of The Times? Subscribe.

Viral Elementary School Math Question Stumps Teacher—and the Internet
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. An elementary school math question has left not only students but also a seasoned teacher—and much of the internet—scratching their heads. Bobby Seagull, @bobby_seagull, shared the puzzle his friend's 7-year-old child received at school on Threads, where it quickly racked up more than 116,000 views. "I get sent tricky maths questions all the time, so I thought this one would be a piece of cake—but when I read it, I couldn't even find a clear question! "To check I wasn't going mad, I shared it on social media... and suddenly Dina's baking schedule was going viral across Threads, Instagram, Facebook, X, and TikTok. Some responses were hilarious ('don't mess with Dina'), others were genuine attempts to solve it. The sensible conclusion? It's probably missing a key bit of information meaning it's an unsolvable problem as it is. "While I'd rather see deeper maths debates go viral, at least it's got people talking about how we teach maths—and if Dina's cake and brownies can do that, maybe it's a win for numeracy," said Seagull, a math teacher, ambassador for a numeracy charity, and co-host of the Maths Appeal podcast. The problem read: "Dina is baking. The cake bakes from 11 o'clock until half past 11. The brownies bake from 10 past 11 until 25 to 12. Do you agree with Dina? Explain your answer." Former upper-elementary math teacher, curriculum developer, and Doodles and Digits founder Caroline Farkas told Newsweek the problem needs more information to solve. Without additional details, the answer depends on assumptions. She noted that key factors—such as whether there's only one oven or the exact baking times—are missing. "That's what makes it a perfect conversation starter rather than a straightforward calculation," she explained. Farkas pointed out that time problems often trip students up because they don't follow a base-10 system. Learners must convert between minutes and hours, interpret phrases like "half past" and "to," and mentally model elapsed time—all easy places for errors. To support students, she uses tools such as number lines, t-charts, and analog clocks. A screenshot of the question causing the internet to scratch their heads. Bobby Seagull/Bobby Seagull According to Farkas, challenges like this are ideal math warm-ups because they spark discussion, encourage students to defend their reasoning, and highlight how precise language impacts problem-solving. Multiple "reasonable" answers can emerge, which makes for rich conversation. She also incorporates "Which One Doesn't Belong?" prompts and visual puzzles to help students analyze patterns, make connections, and explain their thinking in different ways. Threads users were quick to weigh in. "I've never heard anyone say 25 to 12. That's just 11:35. You get half past, quarter after, quarter to. Everything else is generally rounded up. In the case of baking, you'd want to use the exact minute," said Chellykins. Another user wrote: "The first half of the statement before 5a) tells you that cake takes 30 minutes to cook and that brownies take 10 minutes longer then cake. As a teacher I expect you to teach 'show or read the whole question before attempting to answer.'" Debbie Furgueson offered her own take: "Dina needs to convey concisely what she needs me to agree or disagree about in regards to her baking. Please have her reframe the question in a mathematical manner in order for an answer to be found. Thank you.—Logical People Everywhere."
