But last month Gunnar Kilian, who sits on the management board of Europe's biggest carmaker, gushed on LinkedIn that vw had done just that. Mr Kilian was not raving about a fancy new car model, though. VW's very own currywurst—a German sausage with spicy tomato sauce—has become, he declared, a 'cult' product, with 'international bestseller status'.

The Reds will not be meeting the £126million price tag that Leverkusen have slapped on their sought-after star. But they are prepared to offer the Bundesliga outfit a guaranteed £100m, with the deal likely to eclipse the current British transfer record with add-ons. Talks are set to continue with a deal edging closer... Leverkusen eye Quansah There has been plenty of speculation that players could be included in a deal to get Wirtz over the line and Bayer Leverkusen have now been credited with an interest in Jarrel Quansah. The Athletic have confirmed that the £40million-rated centre half is indeed on the German outfit's radar, with Leverkusen in the market for a new defender. Any deal for Quansah would be separate to the blockbuster one involving Wirtz, who will likely become the most expensive Premier League player of all-time should a move to Anfield be finalised. Leverkusen are in the market for a new central defender after losing Jonathan Tah on a free transfer to Bayern Munich. Kerkez gets green light for move Milos Kerkez has been given the green light to join Liverpool - by his Bournemouth team-mate, Justin Kluivert. Kerkez is known to be the Reds' top target as they seek another left-back. Talks over a deal with one of the Cherries' star performers are ongoing with Kerkez keen on joining Arne Slot's side. And Kluivert has now told Voetbal Primeur: 'He'll probably go there. I hope so for him. He hasn't really said goodbye yet, but I hope he'll make it happen there.'

European energy giant to build wind farm in Scotland
One of two German firms involved in the deal, Uniper is owned by the state. It said it has taken the decision to start the construction phase of its first wind farm scheme in East Ayrshire. Renewable energy will be produced by 2028. (Image: Uniper) The project has been developed jointly with co-development partner Energiekontor UK Ltd, and Uniper will start the construction process as its sole owner. Once operational, the wind farm will have seven turbines and a generation capacity of 46.2 megawatts. Construction of the project is expected to start in 2027 with power generation due to start in 2028. The wind farm was granted initial planning consent by the local planning authority in 2022, with a modified application in 2024, following the submission of plans by Energiekontor UK Ltd. 'Uniper has 230 megawatts of solar projects under development across Europe. Peter Szabo, chief executive of Energiekontor AG, said: 'We are particularly pleased to have successfully led this first joint project with Uniper to this important milestone. Rate of women being hired into top jobs falls for third year running
The professional networking site revealed that women were hired into just more than a third – 36.8% – of leadership positions in the year to March 1, down 2.1% year-on-year. This has left the rate of female hires into senior roles back where it was in 2020, according to the figures. The data also showed that while more UK women are now in top management roles than they were in 2019 – at 30.9% last year versus 27.6% in 2019 – the progress has slowed significantly in the past two years, rising by just 0.3 percentage points. The figures suggest it becomes more difficult for older generations to reach senior management, with 19.4% of so-called baby boomers – those born between 1946 and 1964 – in these roles compared with 28.9% for gen X, 36.7% for millennials and 39.3% for gen Z. The statistics, compiled by analysing the group's 43 million-strong membership base across the UK, also show that, as of March, women made up 45.8% of hires in the UK, down 4.6% year-on-year. Globally, the figures paint a similar picture, revealing that less than a third of senior leadership roles are held by women (30.9%) despite making up almost half (43.2%) of the worldwide workforce. This 'drop to the top' is most pronounced in the science, technology, engineering and mathematics (Stem) sector, where only around one in eight (12%) of leadership positions are held by women, according to LinkedIn. It is calling for the Government and businesses to promote hiring based on skills rather than qualifications to help ensure women do not get left behind, in particular amid the shift towards artificial intelligence (AI). Janine Chamberlin, head of LinkedIn UK, said: 'Just as AI is reshaping the workplace and demanding more adaptable, collaborative leadership, we're seeing women's progress into senior roles stall for the third year running. 'Women are 20% more likely to have that multi-domain experience, working across different industries and functions, which creates exactly the kind of flexible, agile leaders businesses need for AI transformation. 'Yet we're locking them out of leadership precisely when we need those skills most.' The online giant believes that a skills-based approach to hiring – through prioritising skills over qualifications in recruitment – could broaden the talent pool for women by 6.3 times globally.
