3 burglars who stole gold, valuables from political party functionary's house in Bengaluru, arrested
The leader of the gang is Raghu, and the trio has been involved in more than 11 cases and were arrested in the past.
The burglary took place at the house of TS Vasanth Kumar Bhavani, a resident of 6th Main Road in Jayanagar 5th Block. Vasanth, in his complaint to Jayanagar police, stated on July 20, around 4.30pm, he locked the house and went to the airport to drop his son. They returned around 8pm to find the front door ajar. Upon entering the house, they found all the almirahs in bedrooms open.
He stated valuables worth Rs 1 crore, including more than 1kg of gold, silver articles, a wristwatch, and Rs 50,000 in cash, were missing.
Police inspector Deepak R and his team swung into action. Based on clues from CCTV footage, the team traced the miscreants in the Turahalli forest area along with the stolen valuables on July 22. The police recovered 1kg of gold ornaments at the spot. They recovered 50 grams of gold ornaments which they had given away.

They identified Vasanth's house minutes after it was locked. They target houses with gardens so that neighbours or commuters don't hear the noise while they break the doors using tools.
They have largely committed burglaries in south Bengaluru, including in Banashankari, Konankunte, JP Nagar and Subramanyapura. The gang uses the money from stolen goods for a lavish lifestyle.

Gurgaon: A liquor shop named "Court Complex Liquor Vend" in Sonipat was ordered to relocate by a court that termed the nomenclature "disparaging" to the institution of justice. The vend, situated in front of the judicial court complex in Kharkhoda in Sonipat, drew severe criticism for its location and name. In a strongly worded order, the court said, "Identifying the court complex with a liquor shop is not only undignified vis-à-vis the sanctity attached to the court, commonly called the 'Temple of Justice', but it severely impairs the honour attached to the institution of judiciary." Further investigation revealed that the vend had not obtained necessary permission from local authorities — as required under the excise policy. On July 18, the court ordered the shop to be sealed. The vend owners later produced the required permissions and proposed relocating the shop to Old Sonipat Road. After the excise department issued an NOC, the court allowed the shop to remove stocks and facilitate the relocation on Aug 2. The vend has since been moved to its new location on Old Sonipat Road.

2 drivers found dead in a parked car, CO poisoning suspected
Noida: Two cab drivers were found dead inside a parked car near National Institute of Biology in Sector 62 on Monday afternoon, with police suspecting carbon monoxide poisoning as the cause of death. The bodies of Sachin Sharma (27) and Lakshmi Shankar (50) — both residents of Khoda Colony in Ghaziabad — were discovered after family members broke the car's window. The families of the two drivers — friends for almost a decade — started looking for them after they did not return home on Sunday night. "They searched for them all night without success. Calls to Sachin's mobile phone went unanswered as well. Around 2pm on Monday, locals informed the family about Sachin's car parked near a private institution," a senior police officer told TOI. Guruji had jokingly said: "The condition of this chopper is bad and it can crash on the way. I am old now and it doesn't matter if I perish in a crash. He is a young man and he should not take the risk." The autumn of the patriarch began in 1995 when his eldest son Durga Soren won the Jama assembly seat. He started calling the shots within the party. He died in 2009. After Durga's death, his younger brother Hemant Soren took over as the successor of Guruji. This led to family feud as Durga's widow Sita Soren was unhappy with Hemant's move. She later joined BJP, but lost Jama assembly polls to JMM Candidate Lois Marandi in 2024 assembly polls. Guruji slowly started to keep himself out of the limelight. On April 15, 2025, Hemant became party president, replacing Shibu. It can be said to be the end of Shibu era in JMM. But Guruji was and will remain the biggest crowd-puller for JMM in days to come. He did not actively campaigned for the party in 2024 assembly polls, but JMM flags with his familiar face and bow and arrow party symbol, kept fluttering in remote areas of the state. JMM formed government in the state later, reminding people that his charisma remained intact.
