‘Bonkers!': Ginnifer Goodwin Reflects on Once Upon a Time Musical Episode Anniversary — WATCH

Yahoo3 days ago

When I most unexpectedly reunited with the age-defying Ginnifer Goodwin on the Disney Upfront's blue carpet earlier this month, I had recently gotten a Facebook 'memory' about the Once Upon a Time musical episode, which aired eight years prior (and for which I was on-set, in March 2017).
So after talking a bit about her voice acting encore as police rabbit Judy Hopps in Disney's Zootopia 2 (due in theaters Nov. 26!), I had to invite Ginny to reflect on OUAT's 'The Song in Your Heart,' which aired May 7, 2017, saw her duet with husband Josh Dallas' Charming, and teed up that season's two-part finale.

'That's bonkers!' is Goodwin's knee-jerk reaction to the eight-years-ago milestone, as seen in the video below. For one, she had a nine-year-old at her hip (her and Dallas' second-born child, Hugo). Plus, 'I was terrified' about singing on-camera, she admits. 'It was a big deal for me to not go running.'
We then give props to Dallas' own pipes, which were put to good use in the musical episode's opening number, 'Powerful Magic.'
For 'The Song in Your Heart,' OUAT creators Adam Horowitz and Eddy Kitsis enlisted songwriters Alan Zachary and Michael Weiner to hash out the grand plan, which led to seven original tunes being penned: 'Powerful Magic,' 'Love Doesn't Stand a Chance' (led by Lana Parrilla), 'Revenge Is Gonna Be Mine' (led by Colin O'Donoghue), 'Wicked Always Wins' (Rebecca Mader), 'Charmings vs. Evil Queen' (Goodwin, Dallas and Parrilla), 'Emma's Theme' (Jennifer Morrison), and the #CaptainSwan wedding song 'A Happy Beginning' (ft. Morrison, O'Donoghue, Goodwin, Dallas, Parrilla, Mader and kinda-sorta Jared Gilmore).
'I said that in theory I was keen' on doing a musical episode, Goodwin told me on-set back in 2017, 'but the truth is when it became a reality I grew terrified, and asked if I could be a doo-wop girl in the background. Jazz hands and all!'

Chiefs Rashee Rice Slapped With New Lawsuit

Chiefs Rashee Rice Slapped With New Lawsuit originally appeared on Athlon Sports. At OTAs this week, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes was asked to evaluate wide receiver Rashee Rice. Said Mahomes, "He looks like Rashee ... explosive and fast." Advertisement He was talking about Rice on the football field. But the same can be said about him behind the wheel of a car on a freeway. While he continues to return from a torn LCL suffered in Week 4 last season, Rice has been slapped with another lawsuit stemming from his involvement in a multi-vehicle crash in Dallas in March 2024. Rice and Teddy Knox — teammates at SMU — already faced a lawsuit filed by two people who allege they suffered multiple injuries, including brain trauma and internal bleeding. The new lawsuit was filed in Dallas County this month by a woman who alleges that she and her son were heading home when their vehicle was hit in the high-speed crash. "Rice and Knox maneuvered to illegally pass traffic on the left side of the road in an emergency lane and hit a median," the lawsuit states. "The high speeds of their vehicles caused a rotation that demolished cars in their path and set off a high-speed chain reaction of other cars being struck and spun into each other. The resulting chain reaction of violent collisions impacted the vehicle in which the Plaintiff was traveling with her minor son." Advertisement The woman alleges in the lawsuit that people involved in the crash and other bystanders tried to speak to Rice and Knox after the crash, but they left the scene on foot. Says the filing, "Defendants leaving the scene of the collision was a conscious decision to ignore the welfare of those harmed by their grossly negligent conduct in favor of hiding their level of intoxication from activities earlier in the afternoon." The woman is claiming injuries, physical trauma and emotional/mental damage, and is seeking between $250,000 and $1 million. Rice was driving a Lamborghini leased through a Fort Worth-based company that day, and Knox was driving a Corvette leased in Rice's name, police said. They drove on U.S. 75 at speeds in excess of 110 mph when they lost control, causing a chain-reaction crash that involved a total of six vehicles, according to police. Advertisement Rice admitted to driving the Lamborghini and turned himself in to police two weeks later. He faces eight felony charges in connection with the crash – six counts of collision involving bodily injury, one count of collision involving serious bodily injury, and one count of aggravated assault. Knox faced the same charges and was suspended from the SMU football team following the crash. 'Lilo & Stitch' passes 'Sinners' to become 2nd highest grossing film of 2025

'Lilo & Stich' and 'Mission: Impossible—The Final Reckoning' dominated the box office charts again after fueling a record-breaking Memorial Day weekend. Theaters in the U.S. and Canada had several new films to offer this weekend as well, including Sony's family friendly 'Karate Kid: Legends' and the A24 horror movie 'Bring Her Back. ' According to studio estimates Sunday, it added up to a robust $149 million post-holiday weekend that's up over 120% from the same timeframe last year. Disney's live-action hybrid 'Lilo & Stitch' took first place again with $63 million from 4,410 locations in North America. It was enough to pass 'Sinners' to become the second-highest grossing movie of the year with $280.1 million in domestic ticket sales. Globally, its running total is $610.8 million. 'Sinners,' meanwhile, is still going strong in its seventh weekend with another $5.2 million, bumping it to $267.1 million domestically and $350.1 million globally. The eighth 'Mission: Impossible' movie also repeated in second place, with $27.3 million from 3,861 locations. As with 'Lilo & Stitch,' that's down 57% from its opening. With $122.6 million in domestic tickets sold, it's performing in line with the two previous installments. But with a reported production budget of $400 million, profitability is a ways off. Internationally, it added $76.1 million (including $25.2 million from China where it just opened), bringing its global total to $353.8 million. 'This is the year of longterm playability,' said Paul Dergarabedian, Comscore's senior media analyst. 'The currency of word of mouth and the strong hold is more important than opening weekend dollars.' Leading the newcomers was Sony's 'Karate Kid: Legends,' with an estimated $21 million from 3,809 locations. The movie brings Jackie Chan and Ralph Macchio together to train a new kid, the kung fu prodigy Li Fong ( Ben Wang ). Chan starred in a 2010 reboot of the 1984 original, while Macchio has found a new generation of fans in the series 'Cobra Kai,' which just concluded a six-season run. Reviews might have been mixed, but opening weekend audiences gave the PG-13 rated film a strong A- CinemaScore and 4.5 stars on PostTrak. It also only cost a reported $45 million to produce and has several weeks until a new family-friendly film arrives. 'Karate Kid: Legends' opened earlier internationally and has a worldwide total of $47 million. Fourth place went 'Final Destination: Bloodlines,' which earned $10.8 million in its third weekend. The movie is the highest-grossing in the franchise, not accounting for inflation, with $229.3 million globally. The weekend's other big newcomer, 'Bring Her Back' rounded out the top five with $7.1 million from 2,449 screens. Starring Sally Hawkins as a foster mother with some disturbing plans, the film is the sophomore feature of twin filmmakers Danny and Michael Philippou, who made the 2023 horror breakout 'Talk to Me.' It earned a rare-for-horror B+ CinemaScore and is essentially the only new film in the genre until '28 Years Later' opens on June 20. A new Wes Anderson movie, 'The Phoenician Scheme,' also debuted in New York and Los Angeles this weekend, where it made $270,000. It expands nationwide next weekend. The summer box office forecast remains promising, though there's a long way to go to get to the $4 billion target (a pre-pandemic norm that only the 'Barbenheimer' summer has surpassed). The month of May is expected to close out with $973 million – up 75% from May 2024, according to data from Comscore. Top 10 movies by domestic box office With final domestic figures being released Monday, this list factors in the estimated ticket sales for Friday through Sunday at U.S. and Canadian theaters, according to Comscore: 1. 'Lilo & Stitch,' $63 million. 2. 'Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning,' $27.3 million. 3. 'Karate Kid: Legends,' 21 million. 4. 'Final Destination: Bloodlines,' $10.8 million. 5. 'Bring Her Back,' $7.1 million. 6. 'Sinners,' $5.2 million. 7. 'Thunderbolts,' $4.8 million. 8. 'Friendship,' $2.6 million. 9. 'The Last Rodeo,' $2.1 million. 10. 'j-hope Tour 'HOPE ON THE STAGE' in JAPAN: LIVE VIEWING,' $939,173.
