Parvez Hossain Emon scored a match-winning 100 in Bangladesh's T20I win against UAE, becoming the eighth cricketer to score a T20I century in the UAE.
Bangladesh's 22-year-old wicketkeeper-batter Parvez Hossain Emon on Saturday, May 17, entered an illustrious list of batters to become the eighth cricketer to score a T20I hundred in the UAE, when he hit a match-winning 100 against the hosts in the first game of the two-match T20I series.
Emon bagged the feat in Bangladesh's first T20I against the UAE at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium.
The other batters are Virat Kohli, Afghanistan's Mohammad Shahzad, Shaiman Anwar, Muhammad Waseem, Jos Buttler, Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Ross Adair.
Emon became the second Bangladesh batter after Tamim Iqbal in 2016 to score a hundred in men's T20Is as well, breaking a nine-year-long drought.
Bangladesh skipper Litton Das opted to bat first and after losing Tanzid Hasan in the second over, Emon and the former added 36 runs for the second wicket before the latter was dismissed by Muhammad Jawadullah.
Emon and Towhid Hridoy then built a 58-run partnership for the third wicket before the latter was dismissed by Dhruv Parashar.
Bangladesh soon found themselves at 140/5, but Emon and Shamim Hossain added 33 runs for the sixth wicket before the latter was dismissed by Jawadullah. Emon's knock came to an end after Jawadullah dislodged his stumps, and Bangladesh posted 191.
In the chase, Muhammad Zohaib and skipper Waseem added 40 runs for the opening partnership before the former was dismissed by Hasan Mahmud.
Waseem and wicketkeeper Rahul Chopra added 62 runs for the third wicket before the former was dismissed by Tanzim Hasan Sakib.
But Mahmud's three-wicket haul restricted UAE to 164 as Bangladesh bagged a 27-run win.
