Bethell Credits Virat Kohli After Match-Winning Knock Vs Windies: 'He Was Great...'

Last Updated: Jacob Bethell has credited ace India batter Virat Kohli for his improved performance after IPL stint. Star England allrounder Jacob Bethell has said that he has improved as a player after spending close to two months in India during the Indian Premier League, adding that Virat Kohli provided him with a lot of information on how he goes about his batting. On Thursday, England's success was built on a commanding 400/8, the highest team total in the 4,880-match history of men's ODIs without an individual century, after Bethell (82), Ben Duckett (60), Harry Brook (58) and Joe Root (57) all made half-centuries. Bethell spoke about how Kohli shared his experiences with him and how the latter was brilliant in passing the information along. Jacob Bethell. En fuego 🔥 — England Cricket (@englandcricket) May 29, 2025 Bethell was given an opportunity in Royal Challengers Bengaluru's playing XI after compatriot Phil Salt missed two matches due to a fever. 'I found that experience very beneficial for my game. I feel like I am a better player now than I was two months before I went to India. Virat Kohli was great with the information and how he goes about his batting," Bethell said at the post-match presentation ceremony. 'All I had to do was ask, and he was great with that stuff. Being a part of that tournament was special. There is a lot of noise around it, so it was great to be a part of it," Bethell added. The England allrounder opened up about the experience of batting beside Kohli at the top order. BBC. 'I felt the energy when I went out to bat with Virat, and that is something I will take into my game, that intensity," Bethell added. Meanwhile, chasing 401, Windies collapsed to 79/5 and were dismissed for a paltry 162 as their bid to become only the second team to score above 400 to win an ODI ended with more than 23 overs remaining. Last man Jayden Seales top-scored for the Windies with an unbeaten 29, one of just three contributions of more than 20 in the innings. Watch CNN-News18 here. Captain Virat Kohli Returns During Qualifier 1 Vs PBKS, Video Goes Viral

Last Updated: Rajat Patidar led Royal Challengers Bengaluru to an eight-wicket victory over the Punjab Kings. Ace India batter Virat Kohli was on Thursday seen leading the Royal Challengers Bengaluru for a certain duration against the Punjab Kings in Qualifier 1 of IPL 2025, a video of which has gone viral on social media. RCB won the match by eight wickets to seal their spot in the finals. While Rajat Patidar may have been the skipper on paper, it was Kohli who wore the authority, and he looked quite confident while setting the fields and instructing bowlers on how they could get the better of Punjab batters. Whether it was directing cricketers in the field, repositioning them with pointed orders or offering tactical inputs to bowlers, Kohli's presence impacted Bengaluru's masterclass on the field in the first innings. Watch the video here: Punjab's ultra-aggressive approach backfired as they couldn't negotiate the tricky pitch, which offered movement and bounce. Bengaluru, who are yet to win the Indian Premier League despite reaching three finals since the league's inception 17 years back, gunned down the small target in the 10th over, thanks to an aggressive half-century from opener Phil Salt. Salt ended up smacking six boundaries and three sixes, including a crisp pull off the star India pacer Arshdeep Singh. Salt had gotten out to the Punjab pacer twice earlier this season and asked what was going on in his mind during the chase, he said, 'Don't get out to Arshdeep, we played 2 group games (with PBKS) and he's found different ways to get me out, so was just trying to react to the ball." The game ended when Bengaluru captain Patidar smacked Musheer Khan for a six. Punjab were blown away by RCB but Kyle Jamieson got the home crowd going for a small period by bowling a brilliant wicket maiden that included the wicket of Kohli. RCB will next play either Punjab, Gujarat Titans or the Mumbai Indians in the final on June 3 in Ahmedabad. Watch CNN-News18 here. 'When I was an intern with the Mumbai Indians, I accidentally spilt hot coffee on him. I was interviewing him and it was a really small table, with a camera and in a rush, I spilt the coffee," Tiwari said while speaking on Ranveer Allahbadia's podcast. 'There was someone there from his team with him and she scolded me a lot, a lot. And I was 21 in 2017. I was about to cry, I was thinking my career was over even before it began," Tiwari added. advetisement The presenter narrated how Rohit didn't give a lot of attention to what had happened and just asked him to move on with it. 'He was like, ' Jaane de yaar, baccha hai (let it go, he's a kid.) You ask your question, it's only coffee that has spilt, don't worry.' He saved my career then," Tiwari said. 'Quite a few times [I've told him]. I met him and couldn't say anything except thank you. I told him, Rohit bhai, you probably don't know how much happiness you've given to how many different people," Tiwari added. 'Captaincy In Test Format Is Simpler': Is Ravindra Jadeja Taking A Sly Dig At Virat Kohli?

Last Updated: Ravindra Jadeja told Ashwin that he believes Test captaincy is simpler and less chaotic compared to the high-pressure T20 format. An honest opinion or a sly shot at Test captains such as Virat Kohli? Ravindra Jadeja left much to be deliberated after the veteran Indian all-rounder spoke out on the differences and the challenges that one faces being a short-format captain compared to the longer Test format. In a recent interview with his former Indian teammate R Ashwin, Jadeja opened up on his view on Test captaincy and how it is more geared towards understainding the rhtyhm of play over a prolonged perios of time, compared to the high-intensity pressure situations that T20 captains are exposed to. 'The Test format is as such, where you just have to change two or three fielders, according to the bowler. Not according to the batter," Jadeja stated in an interview with R Ashwin for his YouTube channel. Jadeja cooked the overhyped Test captain Kohli. 🤣❤️ — ???????????? ???????????????????????? (@jod_insane) May 28, 2025 'That's why I say captaining in the Test format is different. It's much simpler. It's about reading when your bowler is in good rhythm and when to play him or not play him. When to bring in your main bowler." 'It's a bit calculative. But, it's not as demanding as captaincy in the IPL or in the T20 format. Because in the shorter formats, every ball is an event. If a ball goes for a six or four, then one is forced to make changes. So, captaining in the Test format is not so chaotic," Jadeja concluded. Jadeja brought in his personal perspective into play, having played under multiple captains such as the likes of MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, emphasising the calmer and more forgiving nature of Test cricket captaincy, compared to the same in shorter formats. 'I've played under many captains. But I have never noticed something so starkly challenging in the Test format. There's no pressure to suddenly change your batting order, and you also have ample time and breaks to decide changes. Like the batter at play doesn't feel any pressure from the captain to play a certain shot," Jadeja expounded. 'So, the only thing I believe is that the challenge in Test cricket is in learning how and when to utilise your bowlers, according to the situation." Well, whether it is a shot at his former captains or an honest conversation is left up to interpretation. A question that India's new Test captain Shubman Gill may be intrigued to know the answer to.
