Virat Kohli's statement about not wanting to play as an impact player but making an impact as a fielder has fans speculating if it's a dig at Rohit Sharma.
Ace India batter Virat Kohli's statement that he doesn't want to play as an impact player and rather make an impact as a fielder during the 20 overs has left fans online wondering if he took a subtle dig at Rohit Sharma, who played as an impact player throughout IPL 2025 for the Mumbai Indians.
Kohli, who has been the face of the team since its initial years, could not hold back his joy after Bengaluru edged out the Punjab Kings by just six runs in a nerve-racking final.
Kohli was interviewed by Matthew Hayden after the game, where the former discussed in detail the win and his future with Bengaluru.
Kohli remains the only cricketer to have played for a single team since the tournament's inception, and Kohli said that he wants to give everything on the field for Bengaluru until his last game.
'Well, I have an opportunity to play this game for not many years. So there is an end date to our career, as you know. And by the time that I hang up my boots, I want to sit at home and say I gave it everything I had," Kohli said.
'So I look for ways to improve. I cannot play as an impact player. I want to field 20 overs and make an impact in the field. That is the kind of player I have been. And God blessed me with that perspective, with the talent," Kohli added.
Rohit, one of the Indian Premier League's leading names and the second-highest run-scorer, has been used as an impact player in IPL 2025.

Kohli's moist eyes melted hearts just after Josh Hazlewood had bowled his second ball of the 20th over, and when a choked Virat Kohli kissed the Motera turf, there could have been a million teary-eyed fans who had waited for this day just like their hero.
