8 recognised for aiding police investigations in voyeurism and outrage of modesty cases
Mr Chng detained the man and alerted the station staff and the police.
On April 22, Mr Chng and seven others received recognition from the Public Transport Security Command (TransCom) for assisting the police in seven cases involving voyeurism and outrage of modesty on public transport.
In another case, Mr Kumar Arumugam on Nov 24 was in the vicinity of Boon Keng MRT station when he heard a commotion outside the female toilet.
A woman and her friends informed Mr Kumar that they saw a man purportedly peeping over a cubicle wall inside the female toilet.
Mr Kumar helped to detain the man and called the police.
Mr Chng, Mr Kumar and four others - Mr Mohamed Ramadzan Mohamed Din, Ms Siti Khadijah Mohammed Anis, Mr Kay Eng Kok Wei and Mr Anson Liew Wen Jin - were presented the Public Spiritedness Award.
Mr Lee Shao Wei and Ms Seet Li En Jessica received Letters of Appreciation.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Masagoes Idris Hussain, Commander of Public Transport Security Command, said: "The award recipients are truly commendable. Their bravery, civic-mindedness and quick-witted actions aided the police in bringing the suspects to task.
"These actions epitomise the symbiotic relationship that Police have with the community in enhancing the security ecosystem within the public land transport nodes."

Two people have died after a fire broke out in a fourth-floor unit at Block 106 in Jalan Bukit Merah. 22-year-old motorcyclist dies in PIE accident involving trailer truck
SINGAPORE: A 22-year-old motorcyclist died on Monday evening (11 Aug) after a collision with a trailer truck along the Pan Island Expressway (PIE) towards Tuas. The police said they were alerted to the accident at about 5.40pm. When officers arrived, the rider was found lying motionless on the road. The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) confirmed that he was pronounced dead at the scene. A video posted on the Singapore Road Accidents Facebook page showed a man lying next to the tyre of a trailer truck in the aftermath of the crash. A blue police tent was later set up at the location as officers cordoned off the affected lane to facilitate investigations. Several police officers were also seen at the scene, directing traffic and providing assistance. The police added that the driver of the trailer truck, a 30-year-old man, is assisting with investigations. Investigations are ongoing. Two dead after fire breaks out in Bukit Merah flat
SINGAPORE: Two people died after a fire broke out in a Housing and Development Board (HDB) flat in Bukit Merah on Wednesday (Aug 13), CNA understands. The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said that four people were taken to hospital after the fire at Block 106 Jalan Bukit Merah at about 4pm. When firefighters arrived, the living room and bedroom of a fourth-floor unit were on fire. Two people were found unresponsive in the kitchen of the flat, and they were taken to Singapore General Hospital (SGH). Two other people from neighbouring units were also taken to SGH. One of them felt unwell, and the other suffered smoke inhalation. About 60 people from the affected block were evacuated by the police and SCDF as a precautionary measure. The fire was extinguished with a water jet, said SCDF, adding that the cause of the fire is under investigation.
