13 best food places in Westgate to eat from when visiting Jurong

Yahoo02-04-2025

It seems only yesterday that Westgate opened its doors in Jurong East as a new food, family and lifestyle hub.
What can't you find here? Westgate has it all – a massive garden-themed playground, electronics stores, an arcade, a supermarket, clothes stores and, of course, a whole lot of eateries. If you come around in the evenings, you can also catch live performers singing their hearts out and contributing to the jolliness. It's even directly linked to the MRT station for added convenience.
With its open-air design and lush greenery, the mall exudes an air of comfort and familiarity. This is especially so for me, as I have frequented this mall since I was a child. So, here are my 13 food place recommendations for whoever's interested in visiting this vibrant mall.
Fans of 'Chinese burgers' or roujiamo, keep a lookout for Bingz in Basement 1. Founded in Beijing, Bingz is a popular Chinese eatery brand with outlets in Canada, and China and 5 branches in Singapore. Westgate was its first Singapore outlet when the flagship store opened back in 2023.
What can you get here? For starters, you could go for The Signature Pork (S$5.59), Spicy Chicken (S$5.59) or Butter Chicken (S$5.99) from the Crispy section. They're just like the name – deliciously meaty and crispy buns.
Chinese burgers aren't all that Bingz serves. Get your chopsticks ready to try its noodle dishes – the Sizzling Chilli Noodles (S$6.99, S$8.99 with pork), Hot & Sour Glass Noodles (S$6.69) and Cold Noodles () (S$6.59 sesame, S$5.99 chilli oil).

Famous Osaka ramen brand Next Shikaku's first and only Singapore outlet resides in Westgate. This atas restaurant is small and dimly lit but promises big and bold flavours. Its speciality is its oyster broth and high-quality handmade noodles.
The signature is made using luxurious slow-cooked oyster broth, giving the ramen a unique umami flavour. It costs S$17.90 for Single or S$20.90 for Special, which comes with a ramen egg and more meat. Upgrade it to the Beef Sushi set (S$21.50) for extra sushi made with medium rare beef slices.
(S$16.90 for Single, S$19.90 for Special), ramen with clear oyster soup, and(S$19.90 for Single, 22.90 for Special) tsukemen (dipping noodles) are the other two mains provided. For sides, the crispy Fried Oysters (S$11.90) served with lemon and salt are a must-try.

Scarlett Supermarket is the absolute GOAT when it comes to looking for snacks and street food in shopping malls. The larger outlet of the 2 in Westgate houses not just a grocery store but also several Chinese food stalls, including Sichuan Braised Delights.
My go-to here is the Volcanic Stone Roasted Sausages (direct translation), which are cooked on literal hot stones. One costs S$3, but you can get a S$1 discount by buying 2 sausages for S$5. Remember to ask for chilli powder if you like spice to go with the meatiness.
That's not all. This stall serves a unique variety of Chinese snacks like marinated chicken feet, roasted meats and seasoned vegetable dishes. You can even watch the staff cooking (Chinese-style egg wraps) (from S$5.50) through the glass while you wait for your order.

Since I was a child, I've visited Nunsaram's headquarters outlet whenever my family and I felt an urge to eat something cold and sweet. There's a decent range of bingsu (Korean shaved ice) flavours to choose from here, as well as savoury Korean dishes like (seaweed rice wrap) (S$10.90 for Original) and rice cakes (S$8.90 for Original).
I highly recommend the (S$12.90 for Regular, S$15.90 for Large). It's a sweet mountain of shaved milk ice topped with kinako (roasted soybean powder) and injeolmi (Korean rice cake) bits and served with a small bowl of condensed milk for drizzling. Another option is Green Tea (S$13.90 for Regular, S$16.90 for Large), which comes with almonds, azuki red bean paste and matcha ice cream.
Did you know? Nunsaram means 'snowman', which explains the adorable mascot at the entrance.

Rice wine bubble teas aren't a common sight, but guess what? Tastea in Scarlett Supermarket understood the assignment – it serves rice wine drinks alongside the usual suspects like bubble milk tea and fruit tea.
The alcohol levels of the Osmanthus Rice Wine Milk Tea (S$5.90) and Strawberry Peach Gum Rice Wine Tea (S$6.50) are fairly low, so don't worry about getting drunk from just a cup. They do however make for refreshing beverages with their fermented rice sweetness and chewy konjac pearls.
Besides the drinks, you can also dig into desserts like the Yam Sets (S$3.90) or their mochi treats. The Mix with Cheese Cream (S$12.90) comes with 4 flavours of coated mochi, biscuit crumbles and sea salt cheese cream for dipping. I got a Mango for S$3.90 which, while slightly watery, still tasted sweet and fresh.

Miam Miam is an eatery that friends have recommended to me several times before, specifically for its desserts. This popular French-Japanese restaurant in Westgate serves mainly fusion sweets and pasta inspired by the flavours and dishes of both cultures.
According to my peers, the Dark Chocolate Souffle (S$13.80) and (S$8.80) are to die for. They're rich and sweet, especially the Creme Brulee which consists of a creamy vanilla custard under a delicate caramelised sugar shell.
The signature main dish is the Miam Miam Spaghetti (S$17.20), served with sauteed frankfurters (German sausage), tomatoes, spinach and bacon, tossed with French butter and shoyu. Miam Miam also offers a vegetarian version, which costs S$15.90. Another popular choice is the CreamyWith Squid Ink Pasta (S$27.90), with its eye-catching black pasta and grilled squid.

Fluffy pancakes, anyone? This dessert brand from Japan with outlets in 5 other countries serves pillowy souffle pancakes, which are cooked using a metal griddle.
I can still recall how devastated many dessert lovers were when Flipper's at Ngee Ann City closed a few years back. Luckily, the 2 outlets in Westgate and Bugis Junction remain. This one shares the space with QCD Technology, an electronics shop.
Order their Sweet (miracle in Japanese) Pancakes like the signature Maple Butter Cream (S$12.80) or Biscoff and Banana (S$16.80) to satisfy your sweet tooth. You can also explore their savoury pancake options like the Salmon Avocado (S$18.80) or Japanese Curry and Chicken (S$19.80) if they're more to your liking.

With outlets in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia, Bebek Goreng Pak Ndut is an Indonesian cuisine spot famed for its signature halal bebek goreng (crispy fried duck). This dish is a unique and original twist on ayam penyet, a local dish of tender smashed fried chicken leg.
The duck is marinated for 24 hours to let the rich flavours of the spices sink into the meat. It's no surprise as such that the Original + (Original Crispy Fried Duck + Rice) (S$11.90) is one of the highly rated dishes. It's served with tempeh (fermented soybean), tofu, side salad and the restaurant's signature chilli.
Those not into duck can opt for the Original + (S$9.90) to enjoy the dish with fried chicken instead. You can pair your main with a hearty Oxtail Soup () (S$9.90) as well, as it's one of the other popular dishes.

An open eatery situated in Basement 2, Mun Zuk by Li Fang offers a mostly-congee menu. This eatery prides itself on providing collagen-rich porridge that has been cooked for hours daily under meticulous guidance.
You can get your usual Century Egg and Lean Meat (S$6.40) and Fresh Minced Meat (S$7). However, there are other flavours such as Salmon (S$10.40), Popcorn Chicken (S$6.50) and Cuttlefish & Peanut (S$6.90) which are not so commonly seen.
Every porridge dish can be upgraded to a set, which consists of the main dish, a soya drink and you tiao (fried dough stick). Other than that, Mun Zuk also serves claypot dishes such as Claypot Mixed Pork (S$12) and the Signature Claypot Prawn (S$29.90) which are suitable for sharing.

Did you know? Westgate is home to the first overseas outlet of Chaffic, an Australian-Chinese beverage brand and the creator of Australia's first Tofu Milk Tea.
Pudding lovers may like the Original Tofu Milk Tea (S$5.80 for Regular, S$6.80 for Large) – the tofu has a consistency similar to custard pudding with a hint of soybean. Tea bases consist of fragrant Red Robe, Jasmine, Wuyi and Peach , from which you can select one for your drink.
Chaffic also offers a unique mochi paste as a topping, which while thick can still be slurped up using a straw. It's best paired with a milk tea, like in the Milk Tea (S$6 for Regular, S$7 for Large) or Red Robe(S$6.20 for Regular, S$7.20 for Large).

Yes, this is the brand that was claimed as 'superior (to) Starbucks' in a viral post on X. I can't say I've compared the two, but Zus Coffee does whip up some pretty good drinks. The Malaysian coffee chain opened its second Singapore outlet at Westgate in Feb 2025, with the first and third located at Changi Airport and Sentosa respectively.
Usually, customers go for the Zus Signatures, such as the CEO Latte (S$4.90), Spanish Latte (S$5.90) and Coconut Latte (S$4.90). More adventurous options include Zus (S$5.50) and the Watermelon Latte (S$5.50) which, by the way, tastes exactly like its name.
If you're a kopi or teh gao lover like me, the Latte series is worth considering. The Dark Oolong Latte (S$5.90) in particular is quite strong – the robust tea fragrance goes well with the coffee but overpowers it a little.

Giraffa, the well-known Japanese curry pan brand from Kamakura made its overseas debut in Singapore in Dec 2024. The only food item on its menu is, of course, their Japanese Curry Cheese Bread (S$5.60).
The filling inside the Curry Cheese Bread is crafted using stewed pork and beef, apple and tomatoes as well as honey for sweetness, wine and 50 kinds of spices. This curry is encased in milk bread, which is then covered with breadcrumbs and deep-fried for a crispy hot exterior.
Giraffa's name means 'giraffe' in Italian, which was dubbed by the company in hopes that their curry buns would be so popular that customers crane their necks like the long-necked creatures to wait for it.

TikTok star Khaby Lame has taken over the internet over the last few years due to his signature reaction memes and GIFs. Complex reported via the federal law enforcement agency that Lame voluntarily left the United States after being detained at a Las Vegas airport. Reportedly, the 25-year-old personality was in the United States on an expired visa; he was born in Senegal but is a citizen of Italy. 'U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement detained Seringe Khabane Lame, 25, a citizen of Italy, June 6, at the Harry Reid International Airport, Las Vegas, Nevada for immigration violations,' ICE wrote in a statement to Complex. Lame was granted voluntary departure June 6 and has since departed the U.S.' Khaby Lame, born Seringe Khabane Lame, has yet to comment publicly on the arrest and having to leave the United States. Eddie Huang Is Back Cooking in New York — And Wants to Open a Restaurant

Chef Eddie Huang, an author, TV personality, and filmmaker who jump-started his culinary career with his Taiwanese bun shop BaoHaus in 2009, is back cooking in the neighborhood where it all started. This month, Huang is headed to the Flower Shop, a Lower East Side pub, located at 107 Eldridge Street, where he will serve a comeback modern Chinese menu through the summer. It's a test run for a restaurant that Huang hopes to open in New York, telling Eater that he is actively looking for the right space to lease. The seasonal residency, he's calling Gazebo, features a three-course dinner ($80 per person) that is 'fueled uniquely on olive oil from his wife's family field in Greece,' per a statement. The prix fixe includes dan dan noodles dressed with cherrystone clams and pancetta, lion's head meatballs, and whole-tail lobster toast with Hainan-style lobster claws over rice. It's a switch-up from Flower Shop's typical menu, a lineup of maitake rigatoni, shrimp tacos, and pan-roasted cauliflower steak. Gazebo runs from June to September, on Wednesdays to Fridays, with seatings at 7 p.m. or 9 p.m. Its inaugural night, Wednesday, June 11, is already sold out. 'I'm definitely looking for a space,' says Huang, who's condensing his current search to a 20-block radius of LES to Tribeca. But because of uncertain economic times, 'it's silly to sign a lease right now,' so he doesn't anticipate an opening until 2026. In the meantime, the pop-up marks Huang's culinary return to his all-time, 'til-I-die' neighborhood in New York. Two years after its LES debut in 2009, BaoHaus relocated to the East Village into a storefront off of Union Square, until 2020 when it closed during the early days of the pandemic (there was also briefly a BaoHaus Los Angeles, which is also now closed). Xiao Ye, another Lower East Side endeavor, also closed after a short run. In the past five years, Huang has not publicly put his name behind another New York restaurant, focusing on the entertainment world. He's officially a NY resident again, having moved back from LA with his wife and toddler this year. 'The wildfires were a sign to go home,' he says. The Hollywood industry can quickly become a complacent one, he adds. 'You get kind of sick waiting around for the phone to ring,' he says. 'Restaurants and food are the things I love. So it's nice to come back to do physical work.' Dubbed a 'dance music-influenced' menu, Gazebo refers to the Bierut-born, well-traveled singer who rose to fame during the Italo-disco music craze of the 1980s. Huang specifically pays homage to his first hit single, 'Masterpiece' — a hit in Euro-Asian dance circles — which was released the same year he was born (and one he now sings to his son every night), according to his personal Substack. Look for menu changes each month, which include the results of recent experimental dishes he's been working on at home. A quesadilla was a 'happy accident,' he says; the only way his son would eat his Iberico and clam stew is if it joined forces with his favorite food. 'So many people serve raw seafood on a plate,' says Huang, and his Peruvian-style ceviche stands out with Hokkaido scallops, Marcona almonds, and tiger's milk, which speaks to his time with Lima's legendary chef Javier Wong. There's a reason for this particular pop-up location. Flower Shop opened in 2017 with big-name money behind it: Original investors included skateboard legend Tony Hawk and William Tisch, the son of New York Giants' co-owner Steve Tisch. Huang's fresh new partnership with the Flower Shop stemmed from a meeting that his NY fashion designer friend, Maxwell Osborne, set up with its co-owner, Dylan Hales (Randolph Beer). Flower Shop, which features a lower-level bar with a pool table, jukebox, and pink fireplace, added a second location in Austin last fall. A former Cooking Channel and Vice host, Huang detailed his industry-hopping life as a lawyer to chef in a 2013 autobiography titled Fresh Off the Boat . His culinary fame that followed sparked an ABC show of the same name, which starred Randall Park and Constance Wu, and ended after six seasons in 2020. Most recently, he made Vice is Broke , a documentary on the downfall of the media company, where he formerly hosted a culinary show. Momofuku founder and fellow Northern Virginia native David Chang, who has hosted Huang on his podcast, gave the forthcoming pop-up a shout-out on Instagram last week. Sign up for our newsletter.
