BRUNO FERNANDES has broken his silence on his decision to snub a lucrative move to Saudi Arabia in favour of remaining at Manchester United.
The Red Devils captain has turned down the chance to more than triple his wages after he was approached by Saudi Pro League outfit Al Hilal about a summer switch.

Fernandes, 30, has now revealed that he rejected the move following a call from the Al Hilal president and a chat with United boss Ruben Amorim.
Via Fabrizio Romano, he said: "The president called me, I've rejected.
'I spoke to Amorim. He asked me not to go. Manchester United didn't want to sell me. And they don't need the money.
"But if I had wanted to leave, they would have made it happen'.

Fernandes had been given a one week deadline by Saudi officials to mull over a three-year tax-free contract worth £200million.
The Portuguese playmaker is thought to be keen to remain at the top level in Europe and doesn't see Al Hilal as the right move for his career.
Fernandes' current terms at Old Trafford run until the summer of 2027.

Travel chaos to ease for some British holidaymakers as new e-gates open
Relief may soon be on the way for British holidaymakers, as new e-gates have been rolled out for UK arrivals at one of Portugal's most popular airports. Faro airport in Portugal's Algarve has become the first country to allow UK passport holders to use the e-gates system, after the Prime Minister agreed a deal with Brussels. Previously, travellers have had to queue to have their passports stamped when arriving in the country due to post-Brexit regulations, causing long queues and delays. Portugal's Algarve region is a popular holiday destination for British tourists. Nearly ten million British passengers travelled through Faro airport last year, about 45% of the airport's capacity, according to the prime minister's official spokesperson. Last week, Portuguese media reported delays of up to two hours at Faro airport, with large queues at passport control. On Thursday, the Minister for European Union Relations, Nick Thomas-Symonds, said: 'The historic deal that we signed with the EU on May 19 is in our national interests – good for bills, borders and jobs. 'It slashes red tape and bureaucracy, boosts British exporters and makes life easier for holidaymakers. 'Indeed, I am delighted to confirm, this morning that Faro Airport in Portugal will start the rollout of e-gate access to UK arrivals this week.' Seamus McCauley, head of public affairs at travel company Holiday Extras said the move was a 'clear and positive message.' 'Faro is already the UK's fifth most popular holiday destination this year,' he told ITV News, 'So it's fantastic to see it leading the way as the first EU airport to implement our new e-gate agreement – and will mean UK nationals will be able to pass through border control quicker, spending less time in queues at the airport. 'At a time when some popular destinations are introducing tourist taxes or facing anti-visitor protests, Portugal is sending us a clear and positive message. 'UK holidaymakers are not only welcome – they're wanted. So I know where I'll be heading this summer.' ScotRail 'fixing' AI train announcer after artist claimed it was her voice
Gayanne Potter claimed the publicly-owned rail operator based its AI announcer - known as Iona - on recordings she made in 2021. ScotRail is addressing issues with an AI train announcer following allegations it used a woman's voice without consent, the First Minister has announced. John Swinney acknowledged there had been some "controversy" surrounding the matter after Scottish voiceover artist Gayanne Potter claimed the state-owned rail service modelled its AI announcer – known as Iona – on recordings she made in 2021. The subject was brought up during First Minister's Questions at Holyrood, where Scottish Conservative MSP Dr Sandesh Gulhane questioned if this reflects the Scottish Government's support for actors since ScotRail came under public ownership in 2022. Dr Gulhane continued to press Mr Swinney on the issue after Ms Potter, in a widely circulated Facebook post, accused ScotRail of ignoring her concerns. She alleged that Iona's voice originated from voice data held by Swedish company ReadSpeaker, for whom she recorded in 2021, claiming that their use of her voice in an AI model breached the terms of her contract with them. Ms Potter expressed her "distress" upon learning that Scotland had "installed the ReadSpeaker model 'Iona' that contains my biometric voice data as their new announcer on all their trains". She emphasised: "I did not know. I was not asked. I did not consent." Mr Swinney assured that he is "sure" ScotRail will "engage constructively with all concerned".
