Turang homers twice as the Brewers pound the Nationals 14-3 for a sweep of their season series
Milwaukee set a club record for a three-game series with 56 hits. The Brewers scored 60 runs in their six wins over the Nationals this season.
Christian Yelich went 2 for 3 and walked three times, giving the Brewers the lead for good with an RBI single in the first against rookie Brad Lord (2-6).
Turang hit his seventh homer in the second, a 399-foot shot to right-center. He also went deep against Ryan Loutos in Milwaukee's seven-run seventh, belting a 396-foot shot to right.
Joey Ortiz had four RBIs as the Brewers upped the majors' best record to 67-44. Caleb Durbin had two of Milwaukee's 16 hits.
Milwaukee's Logan Henderson was called up from Triple-A Nashville to start in place of All-Star rookie Jacob Misiorowski, who was placed on the 15-day injured list with a left shin contusion. Henderson allowed one run and three hits in 4 1/3 innings.
Aaron Ashby (2-1) got five outs for the win.
Drew Millas had two hits and two RBIs for the Nationals in their fifth straight loss.

Cubs pitcher Soroka headed to IL after 2 innings with new team
After just two innings with his new team, Chicago Cubs starter Michael Soroka is headed to the injured list with right shoulder discomfort. The right-hander from Calgary left Monday night's 3-2 loss to Cincinnati after the second inning in his first appearance with the Cubs — and on his 28th birthday — since being acquired from Washington last Wednesday. "He said he let a pitch go in the second inning and just didn't feel good," manager Craig Counsell said. "Finished the inning but came into the dugout and said his shoulder was not feeling good, so it's an IL." Soroka allowed one run and one hit, Tyler Stephenson's solo shot, and struck out three while walking one before being replaced by Ben Brown in the third inning. Soroka came in a trade from the Nationals for two minor leaguers to help fill a gap in Chicago's rotation, with ace left-hander Justin Steele out for the season and fellow Canadian Jameson Taillon working his way back from a right calf strain. Counsell said he wasn't sure of the severity of the injury and that Soroka would undergo tests and examination. "I don't think we should speculate," Counsell said. "It's an IL and the doctors will take a look and then we'll go from there." Soroka, making his 17th start of the season, came in 3-8 with 4.87 earned-run average. The righty began his career with a bang, going 13-4 with a 2.68 ERA in an all-star season with the Braves in 2019. But he tore his right Achilles tendon twice, causing him to miss the 2021 and 2022 seasons. In 2024 he was 0-10 with a 4.74 ERA for the crosstown White Sox as they set the modern-era record for losses in a season with 121. "His velocity has gone a little bit backwards and he's trying to figure out how to address that," Counsell said. "I think he was very optimistic in the first couple days here that we could help him there and things could get better."

Jung then rocketed his homer into the left field stands. Danny Coulombe (2-0) worked through a two-out walk in the top of the 10th to earn the win. The Rangers' Joc Pederson ripped a one-out pinch-hit solo homer in the ninth inning off Devin Williams that tied the game at 5-5 and sent it to extra innings. Paul Goldschmidt had three hits and scored three runs to lead the Yankees, who have dropped four straight games. Blue Jays 15, Rockies 1 Bo Bichette homered twice, singled and drove in six runs, Ernie Clement had a career-high five hits, and Toronto routed Colorado in Denver. Toronto's Daulton Varsho went deep for the first time since coming off the injured list on Friday and finished with two hits and four RBIs. Right-hander Michael Soroka left his Chicago debut after two innings with a sore shoulder, and he is headed for the injured list. Pirates 5, Giants 4 Jack Suwinski hit a two-run shot and later scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the ninth as Pittsburgh rallied for a walk-off victory over San Francisco. After a lengthy rehab from Tommy John surgery, Pirates right-hander Johan Oviedo got his first start since 2023, but lasted just one inning. He surrendered two runs on two hits while throwing 43 pitches. Adrian Houser (6-3), making his Tampa Bay debut after being acquired from the Chicago White Sox at the trade deadline, gave up five runs on 11 hits over 5 2/3 innings. Cardinals 3, Dodgers 2 Masyn Winn and Ivan Herrera hit home runs, Yohel Pozo delivered a go-ahead, pinch-hit single in the ninth inning and St. Louis pulled off a victory over Los Angeles in the opener of a three-game series. Cardinals right-hander Sonny Gray shook off recent struggles to give up one run on one hit over seven innings as St. Louis improved to 2-2 on a six-game road trip to San Diego and Los Angeles. Freddie Freeman homered and Tyler Glasnow went seven strong innings, but the Dodgers still lost in the opener of a six-game homestand. Glasnow yielded one run on three hits with two walks and seven strikeouts. Guardians 7, Mets 6 (10 inn.) Gabriel Arias hit a three-run homer and later delivered an insurance sacrifice fly in the 10th inning as visiting Cleveland outlasted New York.
