Strata begins production of Trailing Edges for Pilatus PC-12

The Trailing Edge is a critical wing component responsible for generating lift and managing drag during flight.
Strata Manufacturing, wholly owned by the Mubadala Investment Company and a leader in advanced manufacturing in the United Arab Emirates, has completed the delivery and inspection requirements for the first article of the new “Trailing Edge” package for Pilatus PC-12, The Most Advanced Single-Engine Turboprop Aircraft.
In 2024, Strata received Pilatus’ approval for the new PC-12 package. By the end of Q1 2025, Strata had delivered 59 shipsets, comprising a total of 590 Trailing Edge components. The Trailing Edge is a critical wing component responsible for generating lift and managing drag during flight.
Since 2018, Strata has supplied nearly 1,000 shipsets representing more than 26,000 components directly from Al Ain City in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, UAE, to Pilatus in Switzerland. These shipsets cover a wide range of aircraft packages for the PC-24 Super Versatile Jet and PC-12 models.

Strata sustained success in the production of composite aircraft structures are underpinned by cutting-edge technologies such as autoclave processing, and the use of advanced lightweight carbon fiber materials that are essential in enhancing aircraft performance and efficiency.
Since the beginning of its collaboration with Pilatus in 2018, Strata has been entrusted with the production of several major work packages, including: Flap Track Fairings, Belly Fairings, Bullet Fairings, Tail Cones, Pylon Fairings, Internal Floor Panels, and Cockpit Interior Panels for the PC-24, as well as Interior and now Trailing Edge components for the PC-12.

NSA and EDGE launch Space Mission and Satellite Engineering Programme

The National Space Academy, a UAE Space Agency initiative dedicated to developing a skilled and future-ready national workforce, has launched the Space Mission and Satellite Engineering Programme (SMSE) in partnership with EDGE. Delivered in collaboration with EDGE entities FADA and BEACON RED, the SMSE programme aims to build the UAE’s next generation of satellite engineers, system architects, and mission leaders through hands-on space mission systems training. The programme equips Emirati professionals, researchers, and graduates with specialised expertise in satellite mission design, space systems engineering, and mission operations, positioning them to support and accelerate the development of the UAE’s space capabilities. H.E. Eng. Salem Butti Salem Al Qubaisi, Director General of the UAE Space Agency, commented: 'Preparing local talents is a fundamental pillar of the UAE Space Agency's strategy to ensure the sustainability of the space sector. We are committed to qualifying and training young local cadres and honing their skills according to the highest international standards to efficiently lead future space initiatives and missions, while strengthening the UAE's position as a global driver of innovation and scientific and technological advancement.' Al Qubaisi continued: 'Through the National Space Academy, one of our transformational projects, and the courses it offers, we seek to develop an integrated educational and training system that combines theoretical and practical aspects and meets the needs of the labour market. This is a significant step to support the UAE’s ability to keep pace with the requirements of the next phase.' The ten-week programme, taking place from 16 September to 20 November 2025 at the UAE Space Agency’s headquarters in Abu Dhabi, BEACON RED’s advanced training centre, and FADA’s facilities, combines in-person technical training with online modules led by a distinguished roster of local and international industry experts. Participants will gain practical experience across five core modules, including Designing Space Missions (DSM), Applied Space Systems Engineering (ASSE), Space System Verification and Validation (SSVV), Space Mission Operations (SMO), and a Central Case Project (CCP) simulating the end-to-end planning, design, and justification of a real satellite mission. The curriculum is designed to deliver in-depth technical training through hands-on laboratory work and project applications using industry-standard tools and software, while fostering a strategic understanding of operational planning through site visits to leading UAE aerospace and technology organisations. Open exclusively to UAE nationals, the programme targets professionals working in government or private sector organisations within the space industry, as well as academic researchers in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) disciplines. It also welcomes applications from graduates holding a bachelor’s degree or higher qualifications.

Rocket Lab launches 69th Electron mission for iQPS

The company plans four more dedicated Electron launches for iQPS through the rest of 2025 and into 2026. Rocket Lab has launched its 69th Electron mission and deployed the latest satellite to orbit for Institute for Q-shu Pioneers of Space, Inc. (iQPS) – Rocket Lab’s fifth dedicated mission in a multi-launch contract to build their constellation in low Earth orbit. ‘The Harvest Goddess Thrives’ mission lifted off from Rocket Lab Launch Complex 1 in New Zealand at 04:10 UTC on August 5. Electron deployed a single synthetic aperture radar (SAR) imaging satellite named QPS-SAR-12 (nicknamed KUSHINADA-I for the Japanese goddess of harvest and agriculture) to a 575km circular Earth orbit. It was Rocket Lab’s fourth launch this year for iQPS and fifth mission overall, making Electron the most prolific launcher of their constellation to date. Four more dedicated iQPS missions are scheduled to launch on Electron through the remainder of this year and in 2026. Rocket Lab Founder and CEO, Sir Peter Beck, said: 'Every Electron launch is a demonstration of payload deployment precision for our customers – an especially critical element when scaling satellite constellations. Today’s fifth and flawless deployment for iQPS once again underscores Electron’s reliability and continues to prove that consistent tailored access to space is a reality on Electron for our customers.'
