Man who earned ₹1.25 lakh monthly, now delivers for Zomato — here's why his story touched hearts
What started as a 'simple lunch order' turned into a life lesson for a Pune businessman. Courtesy – the person's Zomato delivery partner for the day.
As per his Facebook post, Pune businessman Shripal Gandhi had ordered a paneer tikka sandwich, a pack of chips, and cookies via Zomato. But when the delivery arrived, only the sandwich showed up. While missing snacks are a minor inconvenience for most—but what followed was anything but ordinary.
Besides the life lesson, the businessman even got to know that the delivery partner once earned ₹ 1.25 lakh a month as a construction supervisor before a severe car accident left him partially paralysed.
After Gandhi reported the missing items, the Zomato delivery partner 'stuttered and struggled to respond but humbly' suggested he reach out to the restaurant or Zomato.
The restaurant, taking responsibility, offered to send the items if the delivery agent was willing to return. They even offered to pay him ₹ 20 for the extra trip.
Here's the catch: the agent wasn't required to go back. He worked for Zomato, not the restaurant, and had no obligation to correct someone else's error. But he did.
"I want the customer to be happy. It's my responsibility," he told Gandhi as he went back to retrieve the snacks—on his own time and dime. When offered the ₹ 20 by the restaurant, the delivery partner refused, saying: "God has given me so much. Why should I take money for a mistake someone else made?"
Gandhi later learnt about the turn of events that left the Zomato delivery partner crippled. With his left side impaired, he could no longer continue in his previous job. Zomato gave him a second chance.
"Sir, Zomato kept my family alive," the rider said. "I may be handicapped, but I've been given an opportunity. I will never let Zomato's name be affected." His daughter is now studying to be a dentist—a dream he fuels with every delivery he makes.
In a heartfelt LinkedIn post, the Pune businessman called the experience "a lesson for life," thanking Zomato and CEO Deepinder Goyal for building a company that empowers those too often overlooked.
'You might not realize it, but your decision to hire persons with disabilities is changing lives in the most profound way. Today I received a sandwich. But what stayed with me… was gratitude, resilience, and hope. Stories like his deserve to be seen and celebrated,' Gnadhi concluded his Facebook post.

Promise of high returns leads Secunderabad businessman to lose ₹61 lakh in fake investment scam
A promise of high returns landed a 40-year-old businessman from Secunderabad in a ₹61.52 lakh scam via a fake investment platform. The victim was first approached on April 4 through a WhatsApp message claiming to be from 'G-6 Nuvama Wealth Group', shortly after he had entered his mobile number on a Facebook advertisement promoting an investment and stock trading application. The message directed him to a registration form hosted on an official-looking 'Microsoft Office' link and later to a trading website named Once registered, the victim was offered IPO allotments. He was led to believe he had received 9,080 shares of 'Tank Up Engineers' at ₹55 each, 1,31,500 shares of 'Arunaya Organics Ltd' at ₹20 each, and 2,06,600 shares of 'Virtual Galaxy Info Tech' priced at ₹45 per share. These fake allotments were shown to amount to a total balance of ₹2.99 crore on the portal. When he attempted to withdraw ₹56 lakh from the platform, the transaction was blocked. The fraudsters then demanded a 20% commission, amounting to ₹59.83 lakh, as a prerequisite to processing the withdrawal. Despite repeated appeals to adjust the commission from the displayed amount, the scammers insisted on upfront payment and began issuing threats, warning that failure to comply would result in blocking of his account and fund freeze. It was only after these threats and failed withdrawal attempts that the businessman realised that he was conned. Following a complaint, the cybercrime wing of the Hyderabad police booked a case and initiated an investigation.

"Zips Gone, Locks Missing": Furious IndiGo Passenger Posts About Damaged Bags, Airline Responds
A Deloitte senior analyst took to LinkedIn to express his frustration with IndiGo's alleged mishandling of his luggage and subpar customer service. In a scathing post on LinkedIn, Abhishek Kumar detailed his unpleasant experience on a recent flight from Delhi to Hyderabad, sharing photos of his damaged luggage. Upon arrival, he discovered his checked bag was severely damaged, with torn zippers, missing locks, and tampered contents. Mr Kumar also reported that several items were missing, and the bag weighed noticeably less than when he checked it in at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport. "Your service quality is dropping faster than the economies of South Sudan and Burundi combined — and trust me, that's saying something. My recent flight from Delhi to Hyderabad was nothing short of a disaster. My luggage looked like it had survived a WWE match — zips gone, locks missing, contents clearly tampered with, and surprise surprise: items missing," Mr Kumar wrote on LinkedIn, along with photos of the damaged luggage. He also noted that his bag weighed over 14 kg at check-in at Delhi's IGI Airport, but by the time he received it in Hyderabad, it weighed barely 13 kg. Mr Kumar expressed his frustration with IndiGo's support team, stating that he had been pursuing them for a resolution with no response, likening it to dealing with an unresponsive party who owes him money, and described their service as pathetic. "I've been chasing your team for a resolution like it's a toxic ex who owes me money — and yet, radio silence. July is around the corner, so do let me know if I need to start a '16 Somvaar' fast to get even a decent response from you," he added. IndiGo responded to the viral complaint, asking him to share his contact details and PNR via direct message so they could better understand his experience and get in touch with him promptly. "Thank you for sharing your PNR and concern in detail, Mr Kumar. Please allow us some time while we look into it. We request your kind patience in the interim," IndiGo replied after his response. Earlier, a Goa-based woman, Vaishali Sharma, lodged a similar complaint with IndiGo after her checked baggage arrived damaged on a flight from Goa to Delhi. Despite repeated follow-ups, she claimed the airline barely responded.
