Galaxy Z Fold 7 renders reveal a major camera change hiding in plain sight

TL;DR Leaked Galaxy Z Fold 7 renders show that the phone will have a punch-hole camera on its folding screen.
This would be a major change as Samsung has used an under-display camera since 2021's Galaxy Z Fold 3.
This means the Galaxy Z Fold 7 should take higher-quality selfies and videos with this camera.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 is expected to launch next month, and apparent renders were posted online yesterday. These images show an impressively thin foldable phone, but another change went unnoticed by us until now.
Android Headlines posted Galaxy Z Fold 7 renders yesterday (June 19), and the images show a punch-hole camera on the folding screen. That would be a significant change, as Samsung has offered an under-display selfie camera on the folding display since 2021's Galaxy Z Fold 3. Check out the image at the top of the page and the image below.
This change might disappoint some people who value a full-screen experience with no interruptions. However, a punch-hole camera should deliver much better picture quality than an under-display shooter. Under-display selfie cameras lag behind conventional cameras because the screen prevents a lot of light from hitting the camera sensor. This results in noisy, dark photos compared to even old budget phones, as well as excessive lens flare and other weird artifacts.
In fact, contributor Ryan Whitwam thought the Galaxy Z Fold 6's under-display camera took photos that were 'soft and low-fi.' He concluded that this camera was only good for video calls. So we're glad to see Samsung switching to a more conventional camera after all this time.

Storage Prices Are Going Nuts, Grab a New Samsung MicroSD Card With Adapter for Early Prime Day

Save 36% and get 512GB of super-fast storage for your smartphone, drone, digital camera, gaming console or handheld, and more. Storage prices, to put it politely, have been all over the place lately. You could get motion sickness watching them rise and fall and rise again, and there's of course the ever-present threat of tariffs that would suddenly balloon the prices of storage and many other tech goods. So when the roller-coaster of storage pricing rolls downward, it's smart to grab some while you can. Now's a good time, if Amazon's 36% off deal on the Samsung EVO Select MicroSD memory card and adapter is any indication. The new $35 sale price on the EVO Select 512 MicroSD card and adapter is an awesome opportunity to add fast, reliable storage to so many of your tech devices. It's compatible with Samsung's Galaxy smartphones and tablets, of course, but also most other Android smartphones and tablets with a MicroSD slot. It's also compatible with iOS devices and iPads, and it's the default storage for drones and digital cameras. That's just for starters. See at Amazon So Tiny Yet So Big The Samsung EVO Select MicroSD card is smaller than a postage stamp, yet the 512GB storage capacity might be even larger than you'd imagine. How big is it? You can store 30 hours of 4K videos on it, or 80.5 hours of full HD videos — if you're a GoPro or drone enthusiast, that will be of particular interest. Still photographers or anyone looking to free up storage on their smartphone or tablet will appreciate the fact they can store over 207,000 4K photos or over 270,000 HD photos on that teeny card. The included adapter lets you fit the EVO Select MicroSD card into SD card slots, which comes in enormously handy if you're using an older laptop or desktop computer. With that much capacity, it's also a great accessory to move files from an older computer to a newer one or to different storage. Virtually Unkillable If the idea of moving so much of your precious photo and video artistry onto such a small and paper-thin chip makes you nervous, remind yourself that Samsung has been the world's No 1 flash memory brand since 2003, and the EVO Select MicroSD card is remarkably tough. It can withstand up to 72 hours submerged in seawater, extreme temperatures as low as -40 degrees or as high as 185 degrees Fahrenheit, and is a true beast when it comes to tolerating x-rays or magnets. The average lifespan of up to 10,000 swipes is as close to a lifetime of use as you can get. Predicting where the price of portable storage devices these days is a fool's errand, but you can be sure that the current Amazon sale that's offering the 512GB version of Samsung's EVO Select MicroSD card and adapter for just $35 is well worth hitting the buy button on. PlayStation boss Hermen Hulst wants to develop Astro Bot into an enduring series, calling it one of the consoles "most exciting recent successes"

When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. PlayStation boss Hermen Hulst has praised Astro Bot, calling it one of PlayStation's "most exciting recent successes." Astro Bot was a breath of fresh air for Sony's first-party output which has been relegated to cinematic third-person action games for the longest time, and embodied the spirit of Japan Studio (it getting shut down is probably the biggest blunder of Sony's 2020s, if you ask me). Since then the game has become one of the most beloved platformers of all time, winning Game of the Year at the BAFTAs and The Game Awards. Sony Interactive Entertainment's business group CEO Hermen Hulst gives the game praise during a recent video presentation (via Genki_JPN). During the talk, he calls Astro Bot one of PlayStation's "most exciting recent successes." Hulst adds: "Astro Bot was a smash hit, achieving universal acclaim among players and critics and sweeping industry award shows." When speaking about growing game IP into franchises, Astro Bot is listed as an "emerging IP," hopefully meaning that we should be getting more Astro in the future, (thankfully). Hopefully the success of Astro Bot shows PlayStation the value in having franchises that don't quite fit into that prestige AAA mold or the live service world. After Japan Studio was shuttered in 2021, it meant the studio which were constantly pumping out unique games and ideas were all but gone (the studio was merged into Team Asobi). But, in an era where big Sony series are taking longer to come out (the PS5 generation will probably almost be over by the time the next Naughty Dog game releases), little games like Ape Escape, Gravity Rush, and Patapon would go down a treat. Sony is "really thoughtful" about bringing PlayStation franchises like God of War and The Last of Us off console, and PS5 games going to PC is a matter of "if", not when.
