Ahead of Thug Life, AR Rahman reflects on his decades-long collaboration with Mani Ratnam: ‘He has seen my growth'
During the interaction, Rahman talked about working with the director over the course of two decades and said, "We feel the same even today! I discovered myself in the jingle industry. He has seen my growth. When I was based in Chennai, he was there. When I was doing 'Bombay Dreams', he used to come to London for music. He didn't come to Bollywood though. When I'm doing my virtual reality stuff, he's seen it and commented on it."
He went on to add, 'Our relationship is to serve the audience and the cinema. That is our common purpose. That common purpose drives us to excel. In fact, the final mixing of Thug Life was happening day before yesterday. And he asked me if we could make the music a little aggressive in a particular scene. I went to the studio, and we changed it one hour before the engineer left the studio. That's the freedom we have.'
The audio launch of Thug Life took place in Chennai a few days ago. Some of the songs featured in the album are Jinguchaa, Sugar Baby, Muththa Mazhai, and Vinveli Nayaga. The gangster drama stars Kamal Haasan, Simbu and Trisha in pivotal roles. It is set to release in theatres on June 5.

Earlier, Rai condemned the edited version of his film, calling it the death of creativity, and mentioned that this was not his film. He also said nobody from the film's creative team agreed to providing a happy ending and using AI to do a social media post, he wrote, "I had no involvement in it. Nor did the team that originally made the film. Regardless of what it claims to be, this is not the film we set out to create. 'Raanjhanaa' was never just a film to us, it was a work crafted by human hands, shaped by human flaws and genuine emotion. What is currently being circulated is not a tribute, but a reckless hijacking that robs the piece of its intent, its context and its soul (sic)."Meanwhile, while speaking to India Today, the producers of the film said it was a deeply thoughtful move to offer joy to the audience, and experiment with new technologies to comply with the standards of world cinema. In a long statement, Eros International said, "The re-release of 'Raanjhanaa' in the Tamil market is part of Eros International's broader strategy to refresh and reintroduce classic cinematic works to newer audiences in regional markets. Over a decade since its original release, the film continues to resonate deeply, and the reinterpretation of its ending aims to extend its emotional legacy and relevance. This is a creative reimagining, not a replacement, and is consistent with global industry practices, including anniversary editions, alternate cuts, and modernised remasters (sic)."'Raanjhanaa', a love story also starring Abhay Deol, was originally released in theatres on June 21, 2013.- Ends IN THIS STORY#Sonam Kapoor

Son of Sardaar 2 vs Dhadak 2 box office Day 1: Ajay Devgn's film earns twice
Both 'Son of Sardaar 2' and 'Dhadak 2' received mixed reviews from the critics and audience on their opening day at the box office. While the Ajay Devgn film emerged as the family entertainer, Siddhanth Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri's film caught on to the trend as a socially relevant love story. And for many reasons, 'Son of Sardaar 2' won the opening day battle by earning twice as by Vijay Kumar Arora, 'Son of Sardaar 2' opened at Rs 6.65 crore nett, while 'Dhadak 2' collected around Rs 3.35 crore on Day 1, reported the trade website Sacnilk. Both films were challenged by the roaring 'Saiyaara' craze in YRF film entered its third weekend at the ticket window and ended up surpassing the opening day business of 'Dhadak 2'. The love story, starring debutants Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, earned around Rs 4.25 crore on Day 15, taking its total collection to around Rs 284.75 crore. The film is expected to enter the Rs 300 crore club by the end of the weekend. Meanwhile, India Today gave a 2.5-star rating to 'Son of Sardaar 2' in its review, calling the film awkward and exaggerated. A part of the review reads, "Ajay Devgn returns as Jassi, a Sardaar lost in Scotland and even more lost in the plot. With forced humour, awkward chemistry, and India-Pakistan punchlines doing the heavy lifting, 'Son of Sardaar 2' struggles to match the charm or chaos of the first film."It will be interesting to see how the new releases cope with the 'Saiyaara' storm.- Ends IN THIS STORY#Ajay Devgn#Siddhant Chaturvedi#Mrunal Thakur
