Former Vulcan Iron Works site catches fire again
Fire crews were seen spraying water on the massive Vulcan Iron Works warehouse on Sutherland Avenue, in the Point Douglas neighbourhood, on Saturday evening.
Crews were called shortly to the warehouse before 8 p.m., the city said in a news release.
Firefighters battled the blaze from outside of the building, using aerial ladder trucks and hand lines to spray water on the fire, the city said. A drone was also deployed to find hotspots.
Fire crews were still at the site around 9 p.m. to ensure the fire will be put out completely, the city said.
No injuries have been reported. The cause of the fire is still being investigated.
The Vulcan Iron Works warehouse has suffered multiple fires since it was destroyed in a July 2023 blaze.

A small jet crashed into multiple planes while attempting to land at a Montana airport on Monday, Aug. 11. Officials in Kalispell, a town about three hours north of Helena, said authorities responded to the scene of a plane crash at Kalispell City Airport around 2:08 p.m. on Aug. 11. The pilot of the jet, a Socata TBM 700, which had four people aboard, lost control of the aircraft and crashed onto the runway, striking several parked airplanes and igniting fires on numerous aircraft. The four jet occupants, who are from out of state, managed to exit the plane with minor injuries and were treated at the scene. One of the planes struck by the jet was an unoccupied Swearingen SX-300. No additional injuries have been reported, authorities said. 'Police officers and fire crews acted quickly to contain and extinguish the blaze, preventing further damage,' Kalispell City Government said in a written statement. The Federal Aviation Administration is leading an investigation into the crash. Footage of the incident showed large clouds of smoke and flames billowing from the airport after the plane hit the tarmac. The airport primarily doesn't handle scheduled commercial flights and is located close to Glacier National Park, a wilderness area in Montana's Rocky Mountains. Montana U.S. Rep. Ryan Zinke wrote in an X post on Aug. 11: "My staff is on site at the plane crash at the Kalispell City Airport. From what we understand, no one was injured, praise God. "We will be assisting local authorities and the airport in any way we can as they handle this unfortunate accident," the post continued. Firefighter hurt after 3-alarm blaze breaks out in downtown Salt Lake City
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — One firefighter was hurt after a three-alarm fire broke out in downtown Salt Lake City, officials said. The firefighter was taken to a hospital with minor injuries after the Monday night blaze, the Salt Lake City Fire Department said. The fire affected several businesses and about 60 firefighters were on the scene. Crews were pulled out of the building and were battling the blaze from outside because part of the building collapsed, Salt Lake City Fire Department Division Chief Bob Silverthorne said in a briefing. Buildings in the area were cleared, he said. The cause of the fire was under investigation, Silverthorne said. People in the area should stay inside and close all windows and doors, Silverthorne said. Roads in the area were closed for a time and the fire department was asking people on Monday night to avoid downtown.

Firefighters remain at scene of Arthur's Seat blaze
Firefighters remain at the scene of a gorse blaze on Arthur's Seat in Edinburgh which broke out more than 40 hours ago. Emergency services were called to the scene at around 4.05pm on Sunday. Four fire engines and specialist resources attended and two remained there on Monday. One fire engine was still at the scene late on Tuesday morning damping down any hotspots. The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service has said most fires of this nature are started by human behaviour. There were no reports of any casualties.
