Skins cast reunite and fan-favourite actor looks so different
17 years after the first season of British TV show Skins aired, fans were shocked to learn the cast still keeps in touch. One actor was unrecognisable at a recent birthday party
It's been 12 years since the British version of TV show Skins came to an end. But despite this, fans were delighted to see that some of the cast members still keep in touch.
Skins, which aired from 2007-2013, is a ground-breaking British teen drama, which ran for seven seasons and 61 episodes. It was created by father-and-son television writing duo Bryan Elsley and Jamie Brittain – and portrayed life growing up as a teenager in the UK. It was a hit among viewers thanks to its raw and gritty nature as it explored the lives of a group of teens who struggled to navigate complex issues such as substance abuse, mental health, eating disorders, identity crisis, sexuality and unhealthy relationships.
One of the several actors in the series was Kaya Scodelario, who played Effy Stonem in the first four seasons of the show as well as in the seventh series. And while it's been 17 years since the actress, 33, appeared on the show, she still has a lot of love for her former cast-mates.
Taking to her Instagram on June 7, Kaya posted a photo of herself along with fellow cast-mates Ollie Barbieri, Kathryn and Megan Prescott and Klariza Clayton. They all came together to celebrate the Prescott sisters' birthday.
Ollie played JJ Jones from 2009 to 2010, while Klariza played Karen. Megan was also on the show for just the 2009 to 2010 season as Katie, while her sister Kathryn stayed on as Emily from 2009 to 2013.
"Happy birthday Meg & Kat… the last time we were together we were all a lil bit younger, little bit dumber & hadn't had the pleasure of waking up with sore knees… love you all xx Y2K 4 EVA," Kaya wrote in the caption of the video.
Fans in the comments and on Reddit were thrilled to see some of the cast together again – but some couldn't help but share their shock of one of the actor's apparent transformation.
Ollie, 33, played JJ, a 'dorky' character who found himself in a love triangle between Effy and his two best friends. His character was also autistic, struggling to handle emotions and interactions with strangers.
As the character spent most of his time on the show building up his confidence, fans were shocked to see that Ollie had now grown up to look 'like Harry Styles '.
"Holy s*** – didn't even recognise JJ until I read the comments," one person wrote on Reddit. Meanwhile, another swooned: "JJ looks hot."
A third asked: "Is he the one that looks like Harry Styles in the first pic?" People were also sad to see how much the actors had grown up – as it makes us feel seriously old!
One joked: "Nooo they all look like proper adults!" And a second said: "Wow I don't recognize anyone."
However, most people just shared their joy of knowing the cast still remained friends. Another person said: "This makes my heart so happy!!!"

She released her EP, The Reformation , in 2020, but announced in an Instagram post two years later that she would no longer be releasing music as an artist. Instead, Jackie wished to focus solely on songwriting and producing. 'My intention was and has never been to become a recording, touring artist,' she wrote. 'I'm a studio rat, I'm a creator, I'm a writer, a producer and an artist in many ways, but releasing the songs we did myself was always just a way of showcasing the tracks.' There is a 10 year age gap between Cruz Beckham and his girlfriend Jackie. It's not clear exactly how the duo first met, but they were first spotted together at Glastonbury festival in June 2024. Dua Lipa confirms engagement to Callum Turner
Months after posting photos of what appeared to be an engagement ring, Dua Lipa confirmed her engagement to actor Callum Turner. 'Yeah, we're engaged,' Lipa said in an interview with British Vogue published on June 12. 'It's very exciting.' Lipa said Turner had the ring made after discussions with her sister and best friends. 'I'm obsessed with it,' Lipa said. 'It's so me. It's nice to know the person that you're going to spend the rest of your life with knows you very well.' At the end of 2024, Lipa posted photos on Instagram that sparked speculation from fans that the 'Don't Start Now' singer was engaged, as she appeared to be sporting an engagement ring. Over the past few months, the ring had been displayed in more social media posts, as well as on the Met Gala red carpet, where she and Turner walked together. The pair were first spotted together at the beginning of 2024, and were Instagram official later in the year. Despite their whirlwind romance, Lipa told British Vogue they haven't started wedding planning yet. 'I want to finish my tour, Callum's shooting, so we're just enjoying this period,' she said. 'I've never been someone who's really thought about a wedding, or dreamt about what kind of bride I would be. All of a sudden I'm like: 'Oh, what would I wear?'' The 29-year-old added that even though she's seen other people get engaged, she 'never really understood the weight of it.' But now, she said, 'This decision to grow old together, to see a life and just, I don't know, be best friends forever — it's a really special feeling.' Lipa said she first met Turner, 35, at The River Cafe in London when she was having dinner with her father and he was grabbing a meal with friends. But they could have met several times before, she explained. In 2014, she was working at a London restaurant, and they later found a photo of Turner outside of the same spot. And in 2020, they went to the same party, pre-COVID, and even had photos with the same guy in the background, she said. About a year after she was introduced to Turner at The River Cafe, she was having dinner in Los Angeles with a friend, 'and all of a sudden Callum shows up,' she said. 'Oh, it's that really hot guy from The River Cafe,' she recalled thinking at the time. Lipa said Turner walked over and asked her what she was reading, and she answered 'Trust,' by Hernan Diaz. 'And we both just happened to be reading the same book,' she said. When asked if all of the events makes her feel like they were destined to be together, she replied, 'One thousand per cent.'
