Tulisa to recount drugs trial in new memoir detailing her career highs and lows

Leader Live04-06-2025
The pop singer, 36, who found fame in hip-hop trio N-Dubz, was arrested on suspicion of supplying class A drugs in 2013, but the charges were later dismissed after prosecution witness, 'fake sheikh' journalist Mazher Mahmood, was found guilty of tampering with evidence in the trial.
The book, titled Judgement, has been written using journals that Contostavlos wrote in amid the media storm following the sting operation that saw Mahmood pose as a wealthy film producer called Samir Khan.
In an Instagram video on Tuesday, Contostavlos said: '90% of this no one has ever known.
A post shared by Tulisa Contostavlos (@tulisacontostavlos)
'The story of my year in 2013 has been spoken about many times, but it has never been told in the way that it's told in my new book.
'This is living all the juiciest moments from behind the scenes. This book will have you crying one moment, on the edge of your seat the next.'
She added: 'I have given absolutely all of myself in this book, it's Sex And The City on a drugs charge.'
She wrote in the caption: 'As you all know, I've been through the highs and some unimaginable lows in my career.
'For the first time, I'm sharing everything. The truth, the pain, the fallout, and the strength I discovered when my world fell apart.'
The singer had been accused of arranging for Mahmood to be sold more than £800 worth of cocaine by one of her contacts following an elaborate sting for The Sun On Sunday in 2013.
During a meeting at a hotel in London, Mahmood posed as a film producer and plied Contostavlos with alcohol as they discussed an acting role alongside Hollywood star Leonardo DiCaprio.
Following the collapse of the trial Contostavlos said 'I have never dealt drugs and never been involved in taking or dealing cocaine' in a statement where she also accused Mahmood of a 'horrific and disgusting entrapment'.
In 2016 Mahmood was jailed for tampering with evidence in the collapsed drugs trial when the 'King of the Sting' and his driver Alan Smith, were found guilty of plotting to pervert the course of justice.
Publishing director, Ciara Lloyd, who has acquired UK and Commonwealth rights to the book, said: 'When I read Tulisa's proposal, I knew instantly that I wanted to publish her.
'I remember the infamous 'Fake Sheikh' trial well and how unfairly Tulisa was treated, a story that highlighted the bias and misogyny in the press, and in our society.
'So, to give a voice to Tulisa and her story as well as showcase her phenomenal talent as a writer is a real privilege.
'This is the perfect redemption story for the original Female Boss, and I'm so proud to be publishing her at Blink.'
Contostavlos is most known for singing in hip-hop group N-Dubz who had hits with songs including I Need You, Girls and Number 1, featuring Tinchy Stryder.
In 2011 she became a judge on popular reality singing series The X Factor and a year later she released her debut solo album, The Female Boss.
She also released the book, Honest: My Story So Far: The Official Autobiography, in 2012, which detailed her life growing up on a council estate in London, to making music with N-Dubz, and helping girl group Little Mix win The X Factor in 2011.
The singer from Camden most recently appeared on the 2024 season of I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!.
Judgement will publish in hardback, ebook and audio in August 2025 from Blink Publishing.

Christine McGuinness teases Celebs Go Dating return just hours after tearful exit

Christine McGuinness was seen quitting Celebs Go Dating in emotional scenes that aired last night as she confessed she missed her children and wanted to go home, but now the celeb has hinted a return might be in the cards Christine McGuinness has left fans stunned after hinting she could return to Celebs Go Dating after breaking down in tears and quitting the show. ‌ The 37-year-old model and TV star made the emotional decision to leave the Channel 4 series during Tuesday night's episode of the show. In heartbreaking scenes, Christine told viewers she just 'wanted to go home' and confessed she would rather meet someone in a more 'natural environment' away from the cameras. ‌ She told the agency's dating experts Anna Williamson and Paul C Brunson: "Well, I've been thinking quite a lot whilst we've been in Ibiza and I think I need to date in more of a natural environment. I think I just would love to meet somebody and date more privately. ‌ "It's where I'm kind of feeling myself going back, when I want to go freely forward. Right. And I've made the decision to leave the agency." Christine, who split from comedian Paddy McGuinness in 2022 after 15 years together, became emotional as she revealed she missed her three children too much to continue. Fighting back tears, she said: 'I've been missing the kids loads this week. I think all the love I need right now is waiting for me at home.' But less than 12 hours after the episode aired, Christine surprised fans by hinting that her journey on the show wasn't over. She teased a possible comeback on Instagram after thanking viewers for their support, writing: 'Thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone who has sent messages of love and understanding. To the agents, the incredible cast, and every member of the team behind the scenes. And to all of you watching at home, your kindness has been a true comfort.' She added: 'I am so proud that I went for it and even more proud that I chose my wellbeing when I felt it was all too much for me to continue. 'Checking in with myself and honouring how I was truly feeling wasn't easy, but it brought me back to where I needed to be – with my babies and those precious cuddles. Their healing, happy power is everything. Blessed beyond words.' ‌ Then came the bombshell hint that she could reappear later this series, as Christine ended her post with: '@celebsgodating – To be continued.' According to industry insiders, Christine's return has already been filmed and will air in the finale. A source told The Sun: 'Christine's return was kept top secret from everyone, so they were all so excited to see her come back. 'The cast were really sad when she quit the show, even though they totally supported and understood her reasons, so it was great to see her come back. She started the journey with them all, so it was the perfect end that she got to finish the series with them too.' Dating coach Anna Williamson also praised Christine's decision to leave when she did, calling it 'brave' and 'empowering'. Anna told the Mirror: 'Every moment really does count when you're in the agency, and in real time we had Christine with us for a good couple of weeks. She worked on herself, and sometimes you only realise halfway through the process that it's not the right time. That's what happened with Christine, and we absolutely applauded her for recognising that.'

Jessie J makes heartbreaking confession about darkest days of cancer diagnosis

Earlier this year, Jessie J told fans that she underwent surgery after being diagnosed with early breast cancer, but the singer has now made a heartbreaking confession about her darkest days Jessie J has shared an emotional update on her breast cancer journey, reflecting on the personal toll of her diagnosis and recovery following a full mastectomy in June. ‌ Speaking on Jamie Laing's Great Company podcast, the 37-year-old singer revealed how the experience deeply affected her, especially her relationship with her young son, Sky. ‌ 'Yesterday I sobbed. I feel like I can't be a mum to my son and I miss him,' she admitted. 'I feel like cancer has robbed me of memories with my boy.' It comes after Jessie said that 'life is too short' as she revealed her new goals in life after her cancer diagnosis. ‌ Jessie recorded the podcast in two parts, first in May, shortly after her diagnosis, and again post-surgery. She ultimately chose not to air the original recording, opting instead to speak from a place of reflection. After being diagnosed early, Jessie underwent a mastectomy rather than radiotherapy or chemotherapy due to the size of the 4–5cm lump. However, the emotional weight of the experience was overwhelming. "I had moments where I thought, 'this is going to go left and I'm going to die." She recalled the moment doctors delivered the news: "When they told me I just burst into tears. The doctors had said it was probably just a cyst so I wasn't too worried." Despite the fear, she remained focused on her music. "I was so busy with work after the diagnosis I don't think I processed things properly,' she said, remembering her final pre-surgery performance at Capital's Summertime Ball. 'That euphoria and energy… when I was put to sleep, I replayed that moment in my head.' The support from fans that day stuck with her. "I wish everyone who has ever been diagnosed with anything scary could experience what I did. The whole crowd erupted… It was like a giant hug." ‌ After surgery, Jessie was overcome with emotion when she saw her partner, Chanan Safir Colman. "I was so happy to be alive,' she said, breaking down in tears. She later shared how her mother supported her through recovery: "Mum was massaging my boob for me, because I can't touch the scars. I started sobbing, 'I can't believe this has happened.' She was like, 'I wish it was me,' and then I'm crying, she's crying." ‌ While she still faces more surgery to address implant symmetry, Jessie remains focused on the future—personally and creatively. Her new single, Believe in Magic, is set for release on August 29. In a video posted to Instagram, she reflected on how the diagnosis changed her outlook. 'When you go through something like cancer, people are like, 'you've changed.' But I think I always had those thoughts—cancer just makes us actually act on them.' Among her post-cancer goals? 'I want to write books. Do a kids album. Get all my tattoos taken off. Take my family on holiday. Learn to ride a bike. Maybe learn a language… but I know that's not going to happen,' she laughed. ‌ 'I want to see if I can sort out some medication or some cognitive therapy or something for my ADHD and OCD.' Ultimately, she said: 'Life is short. I want to do it now.'
