Bahrain Explores AI to Boost Sustainable Development in Public Sector
The event brought together representatives from more than 15 government entities, with over 30 participants discussing practical ways to integrate AI into national strategies.
The workshop is part of a wider initiative by Bain & Company and the World Economic Forum's 'Leaders for a Sustainable MENA (LSM)' community. The goal is to identify effective AI use cases that can strengthen sustainability across different sectors in the region.
As a first step, participants worked on shaping ideas for prototype solutions that align with Bahrain's priorities. The outcomes will feed into a research-based report, expected to be published in early 2026, which will be highlighted on international platforms and events.
Experts from Bain & Company shared insights into how AI is already being used in the Middle East and showcased global examples of successful public sector applications. They also emphasized the importance of governments keeping pace with global advances in AI and building strong local capabilities to benefit from these technologies.
The workshop featured discussions on how AI can accelerate progress toward the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), while also reviewing scalable technical solutions powered by AI.
Participants praised Bahrain's government for its commitment to innovation and its efforts to embed AI into public services in a structured way that improves efficiency, speeds up procedures, and creates greater value for citizens and residents alike.
The Ministry of Sustainable Development highlighted that this workshop reflects Bahrain's vision to position itself as a regional hub for innovation in sustainable development, while strengthening partnerships with international institutions and leading global companies.

Bahrain Firms Eye Saudi Security Boom

Bilal Al Barmawi, CEO and Founder of 1st Arabia Trade Shows & Conferences, said the show offers a unique platform for critical infrastructure buyers, giga project leaders, and private sector decision makers to meet and forge partnerships. The Future Security Summit, powered by ASIS International Dhahran Chapter, will spotlight AI driven surveillance, predictive policing, mega event protection, and critical infrastructure security. Abdullah S. Alshemaly, the chapter's chairman, said public and private sectors are rapidly scaling investments in surveillance, cyber defence, and infrastructure protection.

Youth City 2030 celebrates International Youth Day
Youth City 2030 celebrated International Youth Day, held under the theme 'Local Youth Actions for the SDGs and Beyond', in the presence of His Excellency Wael bin Nasser Al Mubarak, Minister of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture, H.E. Maha Abdulhameed Mofeez, Chief Executive of the Labour Fund (Tamkeen), and several officials. H.E. Rawan bint Najeeb Tawfiqi, Minister of Youth Affairs, expressed pride in the contributions of Bahraini youth, which reflect their awareness, ambition, and creativity. She noted that the celebration embodies appreciation for their determination and innovation, and confidence in their role in building the Kingdom's future. Commitment The event underscored Bahrain's commitment to empowering youth and fostering their leadership across sectors to advance sustainable development. Activities showcased talents and innovations, including the launch of the first Young Farmers' Market in Bahrain, organised in cooperation with the Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture and the National Initiative for Agricultural Development (NIAD), to support local agricultural production and promote food security. Other initiatives featured the 'From Farm to Table' tasting experience, sustainability projects such as 'My Clean Plate' and 'Zero Waste & Plastic Cure.' The event also featured presentations of Injaz Bahrain projects and announced the winning companies of the 2025 Young Entrepreneurs Competition.
