SEATTLE — Liberty center Jonquel Jones is expected to be out for at least a month after she re-sprained her right ankle this week, the team announced Saturday.
That means Jones could be sidelined until or through WNBA All-Star weekend, which is scheduled for July 18-19.
Jones stayed back in New York to undergo more testing while the team traveled to Seattle on Friday.
Further examination, including additional imaging, determined Jones avoided long-term injury, the team said.
Still, Jones is expected to miss approximately four to six weeks with the ankle injury.

Jones went down with an ankle injury in the second quarter of Thursday's 89-81 loss at Barclays Center. She exited the game at the 8:35 mark and immediately went to the team's locker room.
The 31-year-old was seen exiting the team's locker room in a walking boot after the game.
Jones had returned to game action only two days prior after she first sprained her ankle on June 5 against the Mystics.
This is obviously a significant loss for the Liberty, who've dropped two of their last three games and are on the precipice of a 10-day road trip, which starts Sunday against the Storm.
The Liberty are remarkably better, especially on defense, when Jones is on the court than when she's off.
The Liberty have had rebounding issues even when Jones was on the floor.
Now, without their best rebounder, there should be even more of an emphasis on the entire group being more aggressive on the boards.

Expect Nyara Sabally to start with Jones out.
Sabally was supposed to be with Leonie Fiebich at EuroBasket right now, but she ultimately decided to stay stateside after having a knee problem that caused her to miss six of the first eight games.
In her four games back, Sabally has shown no signs of rust or residual issues. She's averaging seven points and five rebounds while shooting 56.7 percent from the field in six games.
The Liberty will also need to rely more on Isabelle Harrison.
New York is scheduled to play nine games before the All-Star break.

WNBA Champion Dealt Disappointing News on Saturday
WNBA Champion Dealt Disappointing News on Saturday originally appeared on Athlon Sports. On the heels of one of the most dominant starts in franchise history, the New York Liberty received sobering news on Saturday. Advertisement All-Star center Jonquel Jones will miss approximately four to six weeks after re-spraining her right ankle in Thursday's loss to the Phoenix Mercury. Jones's extended absence comes at a pivotal juncture for a Liberty squad that burst out of the gate with a historic undefeated 9-0 record through May and early June but has begun to show cracks in recent weeks. New York saw its first loss of the season a week ago against Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever, and then just days ago, against the Mercury. With the WNBA All-Star game exactly four weeks away, the Liberty won't see Jones in the lineup for at least the next nine games, with the potential to miss all of July games. A native of Freeport, The Bahamas, Jones is a five-time All-Star, three-time rebounding leader and was named WNBA MVP in 2021 after averaging 19.4 points and a league-leading 11.2 rebounds per game. Advertisement Last season, she played a driving force role in New York's first-ever WNBA title, earning Finals MVP honors by scoring 17 points in Game 5. Beyond her league accolades, Jones has a decorated overseas resume, capturing championships and individual honors in Korea, Russia, and China during WNBA off-seasons. After re-injuring the same ankle midway through the second quarter against Phoenix, she exited in a walking boot and underwent imaging that revealed no structural damage. Advertisement Nevertheless, team doctors have now recommended a conservative four-to-six-week recovery period. With Jones sidelined for the next month and a half, the Liberty face a steep challenge to maintain their Eastern Conference leadership through the All-Star break. Try it free PHILADELPHIA — Max Kranick won't be back pitching for the Mets in the first half of the season, but the right-hander appears to have avoided a season-ending injury. An MRI exam on Kranick's elbow revealed a flexor strain, according to Carlos Mendoza. Advertisement The reliever will be shut down from throwing for 3-4 weeks before he is evaluated for a possible build up. Kranick, who underwent Tommy John surgery earlier in his career, was placed on the injured list this week with discomfort in the elbow. He's pitched to a 3.65 ERA in 24 appearances this season. The Mets lost Tylor Megill to the IL with elbow inflammation earlier in the week. Mendoza received positive reviews on Sean Manaea's rehab start for Triple-A Syracuse a night earlier. Advertisement The left-hander allowed one earned run over 5 ¹/₃ innings and struck out seven over 62 pitches. 'The breaking ball, especially, he threw a lot of strikes and he got swing and miss,' Mendoza said. 'It was pitch-efficient.' Manaea is scheduled for a potential final rehab start Wednesday, after which he could join the Mets' rotation. 'He was kind of like the ace of our pitching staff last season and we re-signed him and then unfortunately he went down early in spring training,' Mendoza said. 'But especially where we are as a team and missing some guys and being able to get him back is going to be huge for our team.' Ronny Mauricio received his first start at second base after playing mostly at third over the 2 ½ weeks since his recall from Syracuse. Mendoza initially wanted Mauricio at third because that is where he felt the most comfortable. 'I feel like now we have gotten our eyes on him,' Mendoza said. 'The days he hasn't played, he's been working at second base. We know how good Brett [Baty] has been at third. Mauricio has been fine at third base too, but we felt today was the day [for the switch].' Advertisement Chris Devenski and Tyler Zuber were recalled from Syracuse to provide the Mets with fresh bullpen arms. Blade Tidwell and Justin Garza were optioned. Zuber, who arrived in a trade last summer, hadn't appeared in a major league game for the Mets entering Saturday.
