Created and written by Stephen Butchard and made by Left Bank Pictures, This City is Ours is filmed in Liverpool and tells the story of Michael (James Nelson-Joyce) and Diana's (Hannah Onslow) love affair, set against the disintegration of Michael's crime gang. For years, together with his friend Ronnie (Sean Bean), Michael has successfully been bringing cocaine into the City and beyond, using his close links with the Marbella underworld; but when a shipment goes missing, he knows their kingdom is under attack.
This City explores what happens when Ronnie's son Jamie (Jack McMullen) decides he wants to inherit the kingdom over Michael, and the subsequent battle for control.
Series one also stars Laura Aikman, Julie Graham, Kevin Harvey, Saoirse-Monica Jackson, Mike Noble, Bobby Schofield, Darci Shaw, and Stephen Walters.
Stephen Butchard, This City is Ours creator, lead writer and executive producer says: 'We have all been blown away by the incredibly positive response to This City is Ours, I can't thank the audience enough for their time and emotional investment. My heartfelt thanks also to Lindsay Salt and her wonderful team at BBC Drama for their unflinching support and continued belief in the show, our story and our characters - and not least for this opportunity to do it all over again! See you soon!'

Sian McWilliams, Creative Director at Left Bank Pictures and executive producer on This City is Ours says: 'We are so delighted to be diving back into Stephen Butchard's brilliant underworld of Liverpool crime with our wonderful collaborators at the BBC. It's been a joy to watch audiences fall in love with these fantastically complex characters. After the tumultuous events of the season one finale, the gang rivalries and betrayals have escalated to new levels, new ones have just begun, and there is a lot of unfinished business!'

Lindsay Salt, Director of BBC Drama says: 'This City is Ours was one of our team's first commissions when I joined the BBC, and I could not be happier with how Stephen, Saul and the Left Bank team have brought it to the screen so classily. The response from viewers has been a joy to see, with millions discovering its thrilling, character-driven drama for themselves to become gripped by the raging war of the Phelans. I'm delighted that we now get to build on this fantastic first run and show that things are only just getting started for this very special series."

'Fabulous' supercharged Aussie lords it at Lord's

Phoebe Litchfield, inspired by a night out watching a Michael Jackson musical, has delivered a thriller of an innings in the Hundred to leave one former England captain swooning about a "fabulous" cricketing talent. The gifted 22-year-old left-hander may have made a mediocre start to the 100-ball-a-side tournament but has blossomed this past week as the event enters its business end with glorious innings at three English Test grounds. Following her match-winning unbeaten 59 at her home Headingley ground against Birmingham Phoenix last week - her first half-century of the year - the Northern Superchargers' Australian star cracked a speedy 31 against Manchester Originals at the weekend. Phoebe Litchfield is a SERIOUS talent 💪🔥#TheHundred | #RoadToTheEliminator — The Hundred (@thehundred) August 20, 2025 And on Wednesday, she played perhaps her best innings yet at Lord's, a decisive 55no, featuring a bewildering variety of switch hits that made her seem nigh on impossible to bowl at for the London Spirit's careworn attack. She hit 10 boundaries in her 38-ball knock and, along with Australian international teammate Annabel Sutherland (29no off 21), steered the Superchargers to 2-93 to earn a facile eight-wicket victory with 34 balls to spare. Player-of-the-match Litchfield smiled afterwards about how much she'd enjoyed being taken out the previous evening with the rest of the squad into London's West End on a team trip organised by Superchargers captain Hollie Armitage to watch MJ The Musical. Another teammate, experienced England bowler Kate Cross, also couldn't help noting how Litchfield had rediscovered a real joie de vivre belatedly in this year's edition. "After Phoebe's 50 against the Phoenix, I asked her what she'd done differently, and she said, 'I remembered what it was like in my first year here in 2023 when I came over and had no pressure on me, and I had so much fun -- and I just wanted to have some fun today'." It's certainly fun watching her now, with former England skipper Nasser Hussain describing her on Sky Sports as a "fabulous talent", while Cross noted her switch-hitting was a freakish gift. "I imagine when you've so many options like her, it can sometimes get quite confusing as to what shot to play. I felt like maybe that was how she started the tournament, almost trying to show off all her skills, rather than being excellent at just some," said Cross. "Now she's had the opportunity to showcase it all, and she's a bit of a freak when it comes to being able to switch it over extra-cover for four or six." Sutherland is some talent too, with the duo's unbroken 76-run stand making it look all too easy. Earlier, Sutherland had also been key in reducing the Spirit to 8-90 with her 3-20. Grace Harris holed out at long-on to Sutherland off the bowling of another Aussie Nicola Carey for just seven, while the Spirit's top-scorer was yet another of the green-and-gold army, with opener Georgia Redmayne compiling a run-a-ball 29. Just superb from Jess Jonassen! 🤩#TheHundred | #RoadToTheEliminator — The Hundred (@thehundred) August 20, 2025 Star performer in the day's other women's Hundred match was, naturally, an Australian too, as spinner Jess Jonassen took 4-10 off her 20 balls, not to mention a brilliant catch, only to find it still wasn't quite enough to at last earn Welsh Fire a first victory of the campaign over Southern Brave at Cardiff. The visiting Brave eked out a three-wicket win with just one ball remaining to make it six wins out of six as they scrambled to their target of 112.

10 Creepy Tales to Stream for Free on Tubi

The sheer amount of content on free streamer Tubi is both exciting and a bit intimidating. However, if weird horror is what you seek, you need only dig past the overstuffed landing page to find some surprisingly intriguing selections. Here are 10 picks we recommend to get you started. Writer-director James Watkins' Speak No Evil remake might've been a bust, but his 2008 directorial debut starring Kelly Reilly (Yellowstone), Michael Fassbender (X-Men), and Jack O'Connell (Sinners) is nearly as intense as the original Speak No Evil was. Though its story is familiar—city-dwellers head to the country and run afoul of local ne'er-do-wells—Eden Lake has a mean streak that makes its horror all the more visceral and lingering. Watch on Tubi. This 1962 pairing of Bette Davis and Joan Crawford as aging, warring sisters is the ultimate example of 'hagsploitation,' but for all its campy delights, it also runs a current of very palpable unease. One's a former child star, one's a former adult star who suffered a mysterious and career-ending accident, and they're stuck together in a Hollywood mansion filled with faded dreams, delusions, and murderous rage. Watch it once, watch it twice, watch it so many times its many quotable lines filter into your everyday speech. Watch on Tubi. Found footage horror has been done to death, but that doesn't take away from the fact that certain standout titles can still produce genuine frights. A real-life abandoned psychiatric hospital in South Korea provides the built-in ghostly feels for this 2018 tale of live-streamers who plot to fake a spooky broadcast, only to realize there's nothing phony about Gonjiam's evil reputation. Turn off all the lights and watch on Tubi. After Art the Clown's debut in anthology film All Hallows' Eve (which you can also watch on Tubi), but before his ascension into the slasher pantheon with Terrifier 2, he strutted his stuff in this 2016 Damien Leone feature, which also supplies the squirm-inducing origin story for future franchise staple Victoria. Subsequent installments have upped the gruesome factor, but the original Terrifier's 'sawing a woman in half while she's hanging upside down' situation will always have its place on the series' list of most horrifying moments. Watch on Tubi. Back in 2020, io9 took another look at 1997's Wishmaster and called it 'still one of the best bad movies ever.' Horror elites Robert Englund, Kane Hodder, Angus Scrimm, and Tony Todd pop up in a tale that imagines an antiques delivery gone very awry unleashes a cursed jewel upon the world—then, subsequently, frees the evil djinn that's been lurking inside the gem for thousands of years. The special effects take precedence over logic and nuance, and an overall bonkers tone (which feels intentional, like everyone involved knew just what kind of movie they were making) only adds to the fun. Watch on Tubi. With Amazon's 'screenlife' take on War of the Worlds distinguishing itself as the hate-watch of summer 2025, perhaps it's time to revisit a different film using the same gimmick with much better results. One of the best pandemic-era horror films, Host elevated director Rob Savage to the horror A-list (he went on to make 2023's The Boogeyman) and made the case that, yes, a movie that takes place entirely within a Zoom call can deliver plenty of bone-rattling scares. Less original is its thematic caution against recklessly summoning spirits, but we can always use a fresh reminder on that front, can't we? Watch on Tubi. Destry Allyn Spielberg (yes, Steven's daughter) made her feature directorial debut with this Tubi original starring Michelle Dockery, Giancarlo Esposito, and a pack of kid actors. It's set in a world where most adults have fallen victim to a sinister virus, leaving the younger generation to fend for themselves—if they can avoid the ill-meaning remnants of the world before, as Dockery's frightful character certainly seems to be. Watch on Tubi. André Øvredal (Trollhunter, The Last Voyage of the Demeter) made his English-language directing debut with this 2016 tale starring Brian Cox and Emile Hirsch as father-and-son coroners… and one very unusual corpse. The Autopsy of Jane Doe has a fantastic twist that you may already know by now, but even if you anticipate what's coming, the slow-burn tension is still worth the ride. Watch on Tubi. The American remake of Train to Busan may have slid to the bottom of James Wan's to-do list, but zombie fans can always console themselves with the fact the original South Korean film's excellence—but also the fact that creator Yeon Sang-ho made both a live-action follow-up set in the same world (Peninsula) as well as this animated prequel. Released in 2016, just a few months after Train to Busan, Seoul Station takes us back to the very start of the deadly outbreak, making good use of its medium to infuse squishy terror into every frame. Watch on Tubi. Not a movie, but worthy of a mention here. As the remake rumbles into production, now's the time to start your Buffy binge, since Tubi has all seven seasons of the cult-beloved series, from 1997's 'Welcome to the Hellmouth' all the way through 2003's 'Chosen,' available to stream.
