Eagles rookie Ty Robinson receives another positive endorsement

USA Today15 hours ago

The buzz keeps building as an Eagles rookie earns more praise from the media.
This is probably a safe guess. Since you've watched the Philadelphia Eagles all your life, those of you who also love the college game have probably kept one eye on the Big Ten. These days, that's certainly harder than ever as it's now two schools short of becoming 'The Big 20'.
Even with all of that being said, your Pennsylvania affiliations more than likely kept you from watching a ton of Nebraska football. Tom Osborne left a long time ago, and if we're being honest, most Eagles fans lost track of Matt Rhule after Philadelphia beat his Carolina Panthers in Week 5 of the 2021 season.
The 2025 NFL Draft brought about some changes. Philadelphia drafted a Nebraska Cornhusker in Round 4, and though discipline tells us not to put too much stock in a rookie until he has played meaningful snaps, it's hard not to be excited. This guy's nickname is the 'Vanilla Gorilla' for Heaven's sake.
ESPN's Tim McManus names Ty Robinson's selection as the Eagles' most underrated move
They say offense sells tickets, and defense wins championships.
One of the most significant talking points we've heard all offseason is the number of players lost from the defensive roster. Frankly, that take seems overstated.
One of those weapons is rookie Ty Robinson, the aforementioned 'Vanilla Gorilla'. Gosh, it's easy to fall in love with that nickname, and it's easy to love what Tim McManus said about him.
Tim is ESPN's Eagles insider, and he recently participated in an NFC East roundtable. Once the topic turned to each team's most underrated move, Robinson earned his shout-out.
"Drafting DT Ty Robinson in the fourth round (was Philly's most underrated move). With minimal contact during OTA and minicamp practices, the offseason program isn't exactly conducive to properly evaluating linemen. But that hasn't stopped some of his new teammates from speaking highly of the Nebraska product. "That boy is fire, I ain't going to lie," DT Jalen Carter said. "He's moving good. He's a big boy. ... I think he's going to have a big impact this season."
Robinson's NCAA career ended with 134 tackles, including 27 for loss. He also racked up a dozen sacks and 12 pass breakups. He earned Third-team All-Big Ten honors in his swan song with the Cornhuskers last season.
This next part, however, is the best part of the story. Rhule gave him a single-digit jersey number, an honor reserved for the tough players on his team who have earned his respect. Ladies and gentlemen, we all loved Milton Williams and are sorry he's gone, but Ty Robinson isn't going to settle into this defense just fine.

USC Watches Big Ten Rival Add 4-Star Power Back

USC Watches Big Ten Rival Add 4-Star Power Back originally appeared on Athlon Sports. USC continues to hold the top spot in the national recruiting rankings. One Big Ten rival, however, added a four-star power back who was on the Trojans' radar early on the trail. Advertisement Amari Latimer chose Wisconsin in shutting down his college football recruiting process Saturday. The 6-foot-1, 220-pound Latimer held a litany of scholarship offers. Including the Trojans, who offered back on Feb. 6. Ironically, Latimer's offer came before USC skyrocketed to the top of the rankings with an aggressive February blitz. The native of Tyrone, Georgia pulled in approximately 50 scholarship offers. The Sandy Creek High star reeled in one other Californian offer, but from Atlantic Coast Conference representative Cal. So how did Wisconsin win over the power back compared to USC, Cal, Big Ten champion Oregon and the long list of power conference suitors for him? His father explained it to Evan Flood of 247Sports. The Badgers even offered him before USC and Lincoln Riley made their pursuit -- as Wisconsin got on Latimer during the summer of 2023. Latimer became drawn to the pipeline of backs who have strolled through Madison. Names like Jonathan Taylor and Heisman Trophy winner Ron Dayne come to mind. He's also going to join his older brother Geimere Latimer on the roster, as the cornerback came via the transfer portal. But now USC has a future 220-pound locomotive to game plan for in Big Ten play. The Trojans visit Camp Randall in the 2026 season. ESPN Announces Twisted News Contract Update For Bills and James Cook

ESPN Announces Twisted News Contract Update For Bills and James Cook originally appeared on Athlon Sports. As the days get closer to the start of training camp, the Buffalo Bills know they have one lingering question regarding their championship-caliber roster. Advertisement James Cook, Buffalo's former second-round running back, is looking for a new deal as he enters the final year of his current rookie contract with the team. He has not received the kind of offer he has hoped for over the last few months - and surely nothing like the $15 million APY he has suggested for himself. While Cook has been present during Buffalo's offseason workouts - he opted against a holdout from mandatory work, he half-joked, because "I like my money'' and missing is a fineable offense - there is some concern that the league leader in rushing touchdowns last year may choose to sit out at the start of camp. Despite the concern, one analyst notes that the team still has time to get a deal done with their star runner. Advertisement "I still think the door is open," said ESPN insider Jeremy Fowler on One Bills Live. "That's one I haven't checked on today, necessarily, but last I checked, there wasn't a lot of progress, but there was still like some optimism in the big picture that maybe they could figure something out, and they have four or five weeks to do it, whatever it is, before training camp, and then you still have camp. "That doesn't have to be a deadline." Fowler, to be frank, has a reputation for throwing stuff against a wall in Bristol to see what sticks. To wit ... On the one hand, he is announcing a tale of "some optimism.'' Advertisement And on the other, he is suggesting a lack of "progress.'' That's sort of twisty in the area of "news reporting.'' Now about that "deadline'' ... There doesn't have to be a deadline, as Fowler says; an agreement could come tomorrow or at the start of camp or during the season or never at all, which would launch Cook into free agency, where he can find out if any other team wants to pay him like he's "Saquon Barkley/Christian McCaffrey Lite.'' But it's clear that what Buffalo may want with Cook is not what they will get. The Georgia running back has had back-to-back 1,000-yard rushing seasons and has been the Bills' most consistent offensive weapon outside of MVP Josh Allen. He has earned the right to negotiate for a long-term extension. Advertisement That $15 million seems bloated. But his present salary of $5.19 million is obviously a bargain. The longer the team waits, though, the longer Cook may opt to try and gain any kind of leverage possible for the upcoming season. And that might mean sitting out of more than just practices. ... which is the sort of thing that can derail a club that harbors legit Super Bowl hopes.
