UP: CM Yogi Adityanath visits injured MLA Fateh Bahadur Singh, prays for his speedy recovery
In a post on X, the UP Chief Minister's Office said, 'Chief Minister Shri @myogiadityanath Ji Maharaj visited K.K. Hospital in Lucknow today to inquire about the well-being of the honorable MLA Shri Fateh Bahadur Singh Ji from the Campierganj Assembly constituency, Gorakhpur district, who was injured in a road accident. Maharaj Ji prayed to Lord Shri Ram for his speedy recovery.'
Earlier, in a gesture that spoke of his direct connection with the public, CM Yogi fulfilled the school admission request of a young girl named Vashi during a recent 'Janta Darshan' in Lucknow.
A young girl named Vashi, who had recently attended the Chief Minister's 'Janta Darshan' in Lucknow to seek help for school admission, has now been successfully enrolled.
Grateful for the Chief Minister's help, Vashi thanked him, saying, 'I asked him to enrol me in a school. Today, I got enrolled... I would like to thank him (CM Yogi Adityanath) for this.'
Vashi, a resident of Moradabad, had met the Chief Minister at the 'Janta Darshan' on Monday, June 23. During their interaction, the Chief Minister had asked her which school and class she wished to enrol in, and later instructed officials to carry out the admission process.
Describing the interaction, she said, 'I met Yogi ji. I asked him to enrol me in a school. He said he would do it.' She added, 'I have come from Moradabad. He gave me a biscuit and chocolate.'
Since assuming office, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has made 'Janta Darshan' programmes a regular feature of his governance, personally listening to citizens' grievances and issuing on-the-spot directives for resolution.
Earlier on Tuesday, the Chief Minister also inspected the under-construction hostel at Maharishi Vishwamitra Autonomous Medical College in Ghazipur. Speaking to reporters after the inspection, he said, 'Purvanchal Expressway and Maharshi Vishwamitra Medical College have become the identity of this district. Today, I have inspected an under-construction nursing college. Projects worth Rs 1,100 crores are either approved or are underway...'
On the same day, CM Yogi also participated in the 25th meeting of the Central Zonal Council in Varanasi, which was chaired by Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah.
In a post on X following the meeting, the Chief Minister wrote, 'Honorable Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi ji has described 'cooperative and competitive federalism' as a powerful medium for the country's all-round development. In this context, today in Varanasi, I participated in the 25th meeting of the Central Zonal Council, chaired by the Honorable Union Home and Cooperation Minister Shri @AmitShah ji.' (ANI)

Shivakumar said the traffic congestion on the stretch would be reduced by 30 per cent. However, on the day of the inauguration, traffic on airport road took a major hit with the police barricading several roads for VIP movement. Bengaluru (South) MP Tejasvi Surya took to social media to highlight the issue of traffic congestion. 'On my way to Delhi this morning to attend Parliament, I was stuck at Hebbal Junction for nearly 50 minutes along with thousands of people and almost missed my flight. All because the state government chose a Monday morning peak hour as the appropriate time for the flyover inauguration program. A long weekend was just behind us – they could easily have picked a time with minimal disruption. But the last thing ever considered is the comfort of commuters. Neither in project design nor in inauguration planning is the public kept in mind. It's always for the politicians, by the politicians,' he added. Reacting to Surya's post, Shivakumar said, 'We cannot answer for all claims. We are here to serve people, don't worry.'

Why Pay Tolls? SC Asks NHAI On 12-Hour Traffic Jams On Kerala Highway
New Delhi: The Supreme Court, on Monday, questioned the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) on why commuters should pay tolls when it takes 12 hours to travel from one end of the National Highway 544 in Kerala to the other during weekends. A bench of Chief Justice of India (CJI) B.R. Gavai and Justices K. Vinod Chandran and N.V. Anjaria also asked whether the NHAI should compensate people for their patience and fuel lost while waiting 12 hours in a traffic snarl. The CJI Gavai-led Bench was hearing a clutch of petitions, including a special leave petition (SLP) filed by the NHAI, challenging a Kerala High Court decision to temporarily suspend toll collection at the Paliyekkara Toll Plaza on the Edappally-Mannuthy National Highway, near Kochi, citing the authorities' failure to resolve the severe traffic congestion in the area. Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, appearing for the NHAI, told the court that a lorry had overturned, causing the traffic jam. To this, Justice Chandran, who said he travels the stretch, said: "The lorry did not fall down on its own. It fell into a pothole and got turned over." "In fact, some payment has to be made by the NHAI to commuters for their patience and the fuel they lost in the traffic block. The road is in such a state of disrepair," added Justice Chandran, referring to the media reports on traffic jams. In a similar vein, CJI Gavai asked the Solicitor General: "Why should a person pay Rs. 150 toll if it takes 12 hours to get from one end of the road to the other end?" SG Mehta responded that service roads were available for commuters where underpass construction was underway, but the monsoon had impacted the construction. After hearing the submissions of the parties, the court ordered, 'Heard Mr. Tushar Mehta, learned Solicitor General of India, appearing for the petitioner(s)….and Mr. Jayanth Muth Raj, learned senior counsel, appearing for the respondent (s). Arguments concluded. Judgment is reserved." While considering a batch of petitions seeking a stay on toll collection until the traffic snarls are addressed, the Kerala High Court had observed: "Toll can only be collected after resolving the traffic issues." "If the roads are in poor condition, how can toll collection be justified?" a bench of Justices Muhammad Mustaque and V. Harishankar Menon had asked. It had noted that although the NHAI had created service roads as an alternative, those too remained in a poor state, contributing to the present crisis.

Rs 6,487 crore sanctioned so far for electrification of 13.59 lakh households
The government has approved works worth Rs 6,487 crore under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS) to electrify 13.59 lakh households across the country, the Parliament was informed on Monday. The move is aimed at ensuring that every family, even in the remotest corners, has access to electricity, Minister of State for Power, Shripad Yesso Naik, said in a written reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha. The RDSS focuses on covering left-out households based on surveys conducted by utilities. These include Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Group (PVTG) families under PM-JANMAN, tribal households under Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan (DA-JGUA), Scheduled Caste families under PM-AJAY, and households in remote and border areas under the Vibrant Village Programme. Alongside grid connections, the government is promoting renewable energy solutions. Under the New Solar Power Scheme, projects worth Rs 50 crore have been sanctioned to provide off-grid solar power to 9,961 households as of June 30. This comes after the major success of the Pradhan Mantri Sahaj Bijli Har Ghar Yojana (SAUBHAGYA), launched in October 2017. The scheme closed on March 31, 2022, after providing electricity to around 2.86 crore households across India. Uttar Pradesh led the way, electrifying 91.8 lakh households. Bihar followed with 32.5 lakh, while Madhya Pradesh (19.8 lakh), Rajasthan (21.2 lakh), and Odisha (24.5 lakh) also achieved remarkable progress. Smaller states made significant strides too -- Sikkim electrified 14,900 households, Mizoram 27,970, and Himachal Pradesh 12,891, ensuring even remote hill regions were not left behind. Other major contributors were Assam (23.2 lakh), Jharkhand (17.3 lakh), Maharashtra (15.1 lakh), West Bengal (7.3 lakh), and Chhattisgarh (7.9 lakh). Naik said the government is committed to providing electricity to every willing household. He added that a reliable and sustainable power supply is not only vital for improving the quality of life but also for boosting education, healthcare, and economic opportunities in rural and tribal regions.
