NYT Mini Hints For Thursday, August 7: Today's Extra Clues And Answers
Before we get to today's NYT Mini crossword hints, clues and answers, here are Wednesday's: Wondering what a Smiling Face with Sunglasses might be? Not sure what Nebraska city is home to Union Pacific's headquarters? Don't worry, because I'm here to help you with extra hints and the answers for today's NYT Mini crossword. The NYT Mini is a quick and dirty version of the newspaper's larger and long-running crossword. Most days, there are between three and five clues in each direction on a five by five grid, but the puzzles are sometimes larger, especially on Saturdays. Unlike its larger sibling, the NYT Mini crossword is free to play on the New York Times website or NYT Games app. However, you'll need an NYT Games subscription to access previous puzzles in the archives. Here are extra hints and the official NYT Mini Crossword clues and answers for Thursday, August 7: Spoilers lie ahead, so remember to scroll slowly: NYT Mini Crossword Hints 1 Across: Alice Sebold novel The Lovely ____ 6 Across: Pictograms for iMessage 7 Across: It holds a canvas for an artist 8 Across: A defensive hockey move into the boards 9 Across: Rash, like many bad decisions 1 Down: Tree that sounds like a sandy stretch 2 Down: Version of Texas Hold'em that shares a name with a city 3 Down: Smell detectors 4 Down: VCR button that spits out a VHS 5 Down: Like fancy sheets NYT Mini Crossword Clues And Answers 1 Across: Parts of a museum dinosaur exhibit – BONES 6 Across: Smiling Face with Sunglasses, for one – EMOJI 7 Across: Painter's stand – EASEL 8 Across: Restaurant item often asked for by signing the air – CHECK 9 Across: Overly slapdash – HASTY NYT Mini Down Answers 1 Down: Tree with smooth gray bark – BEECH 2 Down: Nebraska city that's home to Union Pacific headquarters – OMAHA 3 Down: Features of bloodhounds that are said to be 1,000 times stronger than humans – NOSES 4 Down: Boot from a game – EJECT 5 Down: ___ smooth – SILKY It took me 0:16 to complete today's NYT Mini. Whoa, that was a fast solve! I very almost got all of the Across words without a problem, but I had to glance at the 1 Down clue and completed letters to figure out that word ended in an 'H.' That allowed me to get the word HASTY for, appropriately enough, a speedy completion. See you tomorrow for more NYT Mini fun! Today's Wordle #1510 Hints And Answer For Thursday, August 7th
Looking for Monday's Wordle hints, clues and answer? You can find them here: How To Solve Today's Wordle My apologies, dearest Wordlers. Yesterday was Wordle Wednesday and I just totally spaced it! I was kind of running around like a chicken with its head cut off and that got lost in the shuffle. So, for the first time ever, we'll do our Wordle Wednesday challenge on a Thursday! Every Wednesday (except for yesterday) I give you fine puzzle-solvers an extra riddle, brain-teaser or logic puzzle to solve in order to keep things spicy. Here's today's, fitting for a Thor's Day (though just as fitting for an Odin's Day): Odin has challenged five Norse gods—Thor, Loki, Freyja, Tyr, and Baldur—to each build their own mighty mead hall in Valhalla. Each hall is made from a different material and has a different capacity (measured in barrels of mead: 1000, 2000, 3000, 4000, 5000). FEATURED | Frase ByForbes™ Unscramble The Anagram To Reveal The Phrase Pinpoint By Linkedin Guess The Category Queens By Linkedin Crown Each Region Crossclimb By Linkedin Unlock A Trivia Ladder No two gods share the same material or capacity. Can you figure out which god built their hall with which material, and how many barrels of mead each one holds? Clues: I'll post the answer tomorrow, on Freyja's Day. If you figure it out, shoot me a message on Twitter, Instagram, Bluesky or Facebook. Now let's solve this Wordle! Wordle is a daily word puzzle game where your goal is to guess a hidden five-letter word in six tries or fewer. After each guess, the game gives feedback to help you get closer to the answer: Use these clues to narrow down your guesses. Every day brings a new word, and everyone around the world is trying to solve the same puzzle. Some Wordlers also play Competitive Wordle against friends, family, the Wordle Bot or even against me, your humble narrator. See rules for Competitive Wordle toward the end of this post. Today's Wordle Hints And Answer Wordle Bot's Starting Word: SLATE My Starting Word Today: BRIDE (191 words remaining) The Hint: Colorful ocean feature. The Clue: This Wordle begins and ends with consonants. Okay, spoilers below! The answer is coming! . . . Every day I check Wordle Bot to help analyze my guessing game. You can check your Wordles with Wordle Bot right here. BRIDE wasn't a very good opening guess. Really not sure what made me use it to begin with. Sometimes they just pop into my head and I run with what I've got. ROACH, thankfully, slashed 191 possible solutions down to just one: CORAL for the win! This word always makes me think of Rick Grimes from The Walking Dead. Behold: The Bot and I each get 1 point for guessing in three and 0 for tying. Our new totals are: Erik: 4 points Wordle Bot: 0 points The word "coral" comes from the Latin corallium, which itself was borrowed from Greek korallion or koraillon, referring to the hard skeleton of marine animals used in jewelry and ornamentation. The origin before Greek is likely from a Semitic language, possibly Hebrew gōrāl or Phoenician, though the exact root is uncertain. The term originally referred to red or pink precious coral.
