Celtic & Rangers transfer mystery shrouds imminent deal
Not a big deal, right?
Well, the world-renowned journalist has revealed that Forbs chose Belgium over offers he'd received from Scotland, as well as other European countries.
Given he's about to move for around £7.4m, this would only leave Celtic or Rangers as his potential destination.
While it's not clear which of the Old Firm might have been in the mix for his signature, both teams have been in the market for wingers this summer.
Russell Martin has signed Djedi Gassama today for £2.2m while more wide players are reportedly on his radar.
Across the city, Celtic have signed Swede Benjamin Nygren while another could be on the way should Brendan Rodgers sanction the sale of Korean attacker Yang Hyun-Jun.
Romano wrote on X: "Carlos Forbs is set to join Club Brugge from Ajax, here we go! Deal done for €8.5m fee.
"The player is traveling to Belgium tonight ahead of his medical tomorrow.
"Forbs opted for the Brugge project over offers from England, Italy and Scotland."

Liverpool handed clear run at Alexander Isak transfer as Arsenal and Chelsea stance emerges
Alexander Isak has open the door to a Newcastle United exit after he was left behind for the club's pre-season tour of Singapore Alexander Isak has opened the door to a sensational British-record transfer to Liverpool after informing Newcastle that he wants to explore a move away from St James' Park. Isak did not travel with the Magpies to Singapore yesterday for their pre-season tour, though the club insist his omission was due to a thigh issue. However, it's understood the Swede asked to be left behind after also missing Saturday's 4-0 friendly defeat at Celtic. Liverpool retain an interest and will now consider a fresh approach after their initial enquiry was knocked back around 10 days ago. The big-spending Reds, who have already splashed just shy of £300m on new arrivals after pipping Newcastle to Hugo Ekitike, will likely require sales to present a formal bid. Luis Diaz is wanted by Bayern Munich and is keen to join the German giants while Darwin Nunez, Harvey Elliott, Federico Chiesa and Tyler Morton remain possible departures before next month's transfer deadline. PIF-owned Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal are also courting Isak, who has rejected the chance to sign a new deal with Newcastle, and would be willing to offer the 25-year-old an eye-watering contract worth up to £500,000 per week including bonuses. Earlier in the year, Arsenal initially had Isak top of their summer wish-list but the Gunners - much like other suitors - did not feel he was attainable after Newcastle secured Champions League qualification and they began to lay the groundwork on other targets, instead. Mikel Arteta's side are now in the process of finalising a £63.7m deal for Sporting CP's Viktor Gyokeres, who is finally expected to undergo a medical in the coming days after agreeing a five-year contract at the Emirates. Manchester United have also ruled out a swoop for Isak while Chelsea, who made an enquiry last summer, are currently prioritising the arrivals of RB Leipzig attacking midfielder Xavi Simons and Ajax defender Jorrel Hato after landing Liam Delap and Joao Pedro. Sources at Stamford Bridge have poured cold water on the prospect of a swoop for the Sweden international despite appreciation for the player. Newcastle remain determined to keep Isak, though his bombshell power play could now force their hand. The Magpies value the ex-Real Sociedad striker at around £150m. Meanwhile, Eddie Howe's side remain in talks with Brentford over a swoop for £40m-rated Yoane Wissa. Eddie Howe's interest in Wissa is unrelated to Isak's future and Newcastle have already had an opening offer worth in the region of £25m rejected for the DR Congo international. It's believed Newcastle are now already exploring other forward targets in anticipation that Isak could depart.

David Gray believes Hibs fans will 'make a huge difference' in Denmark tonight
David Gray states the travelling support will 'make a huge difference' as Hibs take on FC Midtjylland in their first UEFA Europa League qualifier tonight. The team travelled from Edinburgh yesterday afternoon, before training in the MCH Arena where they will take on the 2024/25 Danish Superliga runners-up. After competing in vigorous pre-season friendlies, including fixtures against Dutch giants Ajax and English Premier League club AFC Bournemouth, Gray believes his team are as prepared as can be for their first continental challenge. 'Players have come through the games, got minutes into their legs,' said Gray. 'This match is why we have been doing what we have been doing, playing against a lot of tough opposition within pre-season. 'I've not been getting carried away with results. From a physical point of view, we feel we've got the players in a good position. 'We were a little later arriving [in Denmark] so we had to tweak our session,' he added on matchday minus one preparations for Hibs' first competitive match of the season. 'It was important to come to the stadium and to train on the pitch. I've experienced it myself and it gives the players a little familiarity. 'The training session was bright and bubbly. All the hard work has been done, we're all geared up to the match.' Hibs supporters have travelled to Herning, Denmark, in great numbers – and noise – ahead of the club's first European match of the 2025/26 campaign. While remembering a former trip to Brøndby, Gray spoke on how crucial the Hibees' support is for the team in Denmark. 'The fans will make a huge difference. It's their reward as well. At the start of last season, we went through tough times. The fans, as they always do, showed up in numbers. 'This is their reward, European football is what everyone wants to see. 'I'm sure it will be a fantastic occasion and hopefully we can go home with a positive result.' Gray has almost a full squad at his disposal, missing only three players in total, including two long-term injuries anticipated ahead of preparations for the first leg. 'Millsy (Lewis Miller) has not made it. Joe Newell and Rudi Molotnikov, the two longer-term ones, haven't made it. 'Apart from that, everyone is fit and healthy. The players are all in a really good place. 'Millsy was just an impact injury. 'From a squad point of view, we feel we are in a really good position and the players are chomping at the bit to be selected.' Like this: Like Related

Celtic have three surging transfer priorities as Michel Ange Balikwisha makes intentions clear
Brendan Rodgers wants quality signings in the door before next month's Champions League play-off Celtic are refusing to give up on their long-running pursuit of Michel Ange Balikwisha. The Hoops have identified the Royal Antwerp winger as one of their top targets this summer as Brendan Rodgers desperately seeks to add more firepower to his frontline. Celts are down to the bare bones in terms of wide options following Nicolas Kuhn's £17million exit to Como and Jota sidelined until 2026. Balikwisha, 24, has been on the radar for a while and the Parkhead club were ready to move for him in January before he suffered his last injury. The lightning-quick Belgian is out of contract next summer and Celtic hope to land him for a cut-price deal. Cash-strapped Royal Antwerp are open to selling their star man rather than risk losing him for nothing at the end of this season. But sporting director Marc Overmars is reluctant to budge on the £5m price tag, with Celts keen to meet somewhere in between. The player's representative Jibril Rekkab claimed that there hasn't been contact between both clubs but Record Sport understands discussions have taken place. It's believed Antwerp know that Balikwisha wants to move to Scotland but are playing hardball as they look to get the best fee they can as his contract runs down. Meanwhile, there were reports that Go Ahead Eagles had turned down Celtic's £1.5m bid for talented winger Jakob Breum. However, Danish sources have dismissed that and claimed the Hoops' interest hasn't been renewed. As well as a new winger, the Scottish champions are also in the market for a main striker, while another midfielder remains a top priority.
