PSG 4-0 Real Madrid: European champs lay claim to title as best in world
MORE — Prize money list for Club World Cup
It was one-way traffic from the opening whistle as PSG played through and around Real Madrid at will. Thibaut Courtois made a pair of fantastic saves in the opening five minutes to keep the score level, but he could only hold the last line of defense for so long — that is, until the 6th minute.
Ousmane Dembele danced around defenders, perhaps earning a penalty if Fabian Ruiz hadn't followed up and slammed home the loose ball. Dembele got his goal just three minutes later, when Antonio Rudiger whiffed on a pass attempt and left the ball sitting on the sun-baked field at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey (temperature: 90 degrees at kickoff). Dembele raced in behind and tucked a left-footed finish inside the far post to make it 2-0.
Ruiz scored his second goal from the exact same spot in the 24th minute after Achraf Hakimi made his way down the right wing and picked out the Spanish midfielder in acres of space. Ruiz applied the emphatic finish once again and left the vast majority of the 80,000-plus in attendance (conservatively, 80-20 split in Madrid's favor) in stunned silence. Luis Enrique emptied the bench in the second half and it was one of his five substitutes, Goncalo Ramos, who put the exclamation point on an incredibly dominant performance.
PSG will face Chelsea in the Club World Cup final on Sunday (3 pm ET) back at MetLife Stadium, after the Blues beat Brazilian side Fluminense 2-0 in the first semifinal on Tuesday.

This PSG side, all the way from the fullbacks to the midfield and the wingers and forwards, are just relentless in attack. The constant movement is giving Real Madrid all kinds of trouble.
UNBELIEVABLE SAVE! Courtois denies Mendes a certain goal (5')
That's two world-class saves by Thibaut Courtois already. Nuno Mendes got on the end of a cross six yards out, with Courtois seemingly out of position and out of the play, but somehow the Belgian scrambled back and got a low hand to save a wide open goal.

Luis Enrique's PSG have been sensational during this tournament, with the reigning European champions creating so many chances and dominating games. They did have a tough time against Bayern Munich in the quarterfinals, but they got the job done, as they always seem to. Still, they did have two players sent off late on and that could impact them for this semifinal. PSG are the red-hot favorites to win this competition and it feels like they are destined to dominate the club game for years to come.
MORE — Club World Cup schedule, bracket
Real Madrid have really settled in to their new 3-5-2 formation under new manager Xabi Alonso and were pretty comfortable in their quarterfinal win against Borussia Dortmund. Well, until the final few minutes when they almost imploded. Kylian Mbappe is pushing hard to start as he's recovered from his stomach issue and there will be so much focus on the former PSG striker before, during and after this massive semifinal.
PSG team news, focus
Luis Enrique has lost both Willian Pacho and Lucas Hernandez to suspension after they were sent off in the quarterfinal against Bayern. Lucas Beraldo will likely come in to start for Pacho at center back and the only other selection dilemma Enrique has is whether to start Ousmane Dembele up top. Dembele came on and scored against Bayern and now he's back from injury it's likely he starts this game ahead of Bradley Barcola.
Real Madrid team news, focus
Xabi Alonso has a couple of big decisions to make in terms of his starting lineup. Dean Huijsen is suspended after picking up a red card late on against Borussia Dortmund. The young center back has been excellent in his first few games for Real Madrid but he will miss this huge match and Raul Asencio is likely to come in. Kylian Mbappe scored a beauty late on against Dortmund after coming off the bench and he will surely start against PSG. Young forward Gonzalo Garcia has been a revelation up top, scoring four goals in five games so far to lead the competition in scoring. But this is Mbappe. Against PSG. He has to start. David Alaba, Ferland Mendy, Eduardo Camavinga and Endrick remain out injured.
PSG vs Real Madrid prediction
This is going to be a classic. You can just feel it. PSG will press high and try to dictate the tempo and Real are just fine with making the most of space on the counter. Hold on to your hats. PSG 4-3 Real Madrid.

Premier League giants likely to end pursuit of Real Madrid star to explore other targets
Liverpool's transfer strategy appears to be changing, with the club now prioritising a move for Alexander Isak instead of Real Madrid forward Rodrygo. According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the Premier League giants are preparing to go all-in for Isak once the sale of Luis Diaz to Bayern Munich is completed. The Colombian winger's move is reportedly agreed upon, even if it has not been officially announced yet. Isak, currently playing for Newcastle United, is said to be very interested in the Liverpool switch. What makes the move even more likely is that the Swedish striker is not negotiating with any Saudi Arabian clubs, as his sights are firmly set on a future at Anfield. Rodrygo committed to Real Madrid For months, Rodrygo's name has been linked to Liverpool as a potential Diaz replacement. English media outlets even reported early contact between the Merseyside club and Rodrygo's representatives. Liverpool are focused on Alexander Isak. (Photo by) At 24, the Brazilian remains one of the players most likely to leave Real Madrid this summer, but so far, no official offers have landed on the club's table. While Real Madrid await concrete developments, Rodrygo's stance remains unchanged. Despite growing speculation and Xabi Alonso's lack of trust in him, something that became clear during the Club World Cup, Rodrygo is committed to seeing out his contract, which runs until 2028. For now, it seems Liverpool may be heading in a different direction, with Isak now emerging as the top candidate. The next few days could bring major updates as Liverpool finalise Diaz's exit and look to bring in a high-profile replacement. Whether that ends up being Rodrygo or Isak will depend on how negotiations unfold, but at this stage, the Swedish forward looks like the frontrunner.

Who is Chloe Kelly? The star who sparked England's Euro 2025 win over Spain
Chloe Kelly has cemented her status as one of England's most iconic footballers, delivering a standout performance in the thrilling Euro 2025 final against Spain. The Arsenal forward's heroics, including a crucial assist and the winning penalty in a 3-1 shootout victory, helped the Lionesses retain their European title. But who is Chloe Kelly, and what makes her such a game-changer? This article dives into her journey and defining moments at Euro 2025. Early Life and Rise to Stardom Born on January 15, 1998, in London, Chloe Kelly grew up in a football-loving family with five brothers who fueled her competitive spirit. She began her career at Arsenal's academy but made a bold move to Everton at age 20, seeking regular first-team action. Her determination paid off, and after a stint at Everton, she joined Manchester City in 2020, where she became a key player in the Women's Super League (WSL). Kelly's resilience shone through after a serious ACL injury in 2021, which sidelined her for months. Her relentless work ethic, evident in grueling gym sessions, ensured her return to top form, earning her a spot in England's Euro 2022 squad. Euro 2022: The Breakthrough Moment Chloe Kelly etched her name in football history during the UEFA Women's Euro 2022 final. Coming off the bench, she scored the decisive goal in extra time against Germany, securing England's first major trophy since 1966. Her iconic shirt-waving celebration at Wembley became a defining image of the Lionesses' triumph, showcasing her flair and fearless personality. Euro 2025: A Hero Again Fast forward to July 27, 2025, and Chloe Kelly once again proved her clutch mentality in the Euro 2025 final in Basel. England faced a formidable Spain side, the reigning world champions, who took the lead through Mariona Caldentey's first-half header. Kelly, introduced as a substitute, turned the game around with a pinpoint cross that Alessia Russo headed in to equalize after 57 minutes. The match went to penalties, and with England's usual penalty-takers off the pitch, Kelly stepped up. Her trademark hop, skip, and kick sent the ball past Spain's goalkeeper Cata Coll, sealing a 3-1 shootout win and back-to-back European titles for England. Kelly's impact wasn't limited to the final. Throughout Euro 2025, she excelled as a super-sub, providing crucial assists against Sweden and scoring the winning goal in extra time against Italy in the semi-final after her penalty was saved. Her ability to deliver in high-pressure moments earned her an 8.66/10 rating from fans, the highest in the final. Ahmedabad Plane Crash Aman Shukla is a post-graduate in mass communication . Spain's Aitana Bonmatí Reacts To Losing Euros Final: 'I'm a bit in shock'
Being the most skillful and technically best team at the UEFA Women's Euros wasn't enough to get Spain the title on Sunday. The 2023 World Cup winner and 2024 UEFA Nations League title holder still does not have a European title for its stellar generation after a penalty shootout loss to England in the final after a 1-1 draw after extra time. Spain trailed for just four minutes' play across six games in the entire tournament. England led for barely five minutes' play in its three knockout rounds games – and none against Spain. "We were the best team of the tournament, but sometimes that's not enough," Spain star Aitana Bonmatí said. Bonmatí cut a sad figure walking to the trophy ceremony platform to collect her trophy as the best player of the tournament, which she began days after being hospitalized with a bout of viral meningitis. Bonmatí's spot kick in the shootout was one of two saved by England goalkeeper Hannah Hampton. Mariona Caldentey, whose 25th-minute headed goal seemed to set Spain on track for victory, also had her penalty saved. Caldentey also went close to scoring a second time in the first half, in which tournament top scorer Esther Gonzalez had three chances to score. Early in the second half, Caldentey's Arsenal teammates Chloe Kelly and Alessia Russo combined to level the score on Russo's header. "I'm a bit in shock," Bonmatí said. "It was cruel. We played better, created more scoring chances, but in soccer sometimes that's not enough. It all came down to the penalties." "I'm sorry for my miss," said two-time Ballon d'Or winner Bonmatí, whose teammates Caldentey and Alexia Putellas also failed from the spot in a 2-0 quarterfinal win over Switzerland. "I think this team deserved more. At least not living with this bitter feeling," Spain coach Montse Tomé said in translated comments. Spain captain Irene Paredes said it was "hard to look for the positives so soon. Right now, it's a very tough moment." "England were happy just to reach penalties but, in the shootout, we didn't perform well," said Paredes, whose Barcelona team also lost the Women's Champions League final in May to an English opponent, Arsenal. "To be a champion you need some luck, and I believe they had it." Spain still is a world champion and will soon prepare to start qualifying for the defense of its title. The 2027 World Cup is being played in Brazil. "We will be back," Bonmatí said. "There will be a World Cup in a couple of years, and that's our goal now. This is a golden generation, with a lot of young players." Reporting by The Associated Press. Want great stories delivered right to your inbox?
