BPD investigating non-fatal shooting of a Binghamton woman
BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) – A Binghamton woman is currently in recovery after being shot in the chest on Saturday.
On June 7, at approximately 4:15 a.m., the Binghamton Police Department responded to the area of Oak Street and Gerard Avenue after receiving a report of shots fired.
Upon arrival, officers located a 34-year-old woman with a small-caliber gunshot to her chest. Officers also located several shell casings in the area of 164 Oak Street.
The female victim was transported to a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. She has since been released.
The investigation into the incident remains ongoing. There is no suspect description at this time.

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) — Binghamton Police is asking you to help locate a man who was reportedly last seen around May 6, 2025. 46-year-old Donald J. Cioccio-Jarnagin was reported missing out of the City of Binghamton, and was last seen around the time of May 6, BPD said. His current location is unknown. BPD asks if you have any information to contact the department immediately. Police describe Cioccio-Jarnagin as a white male, approximately 6 feet tall, weighing 180 pounds, with hazel eyes and brown hair. Stepped up patrols in Binghamton ahead of summer
BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) – As we head into the summer months, community members can expect to see an increase in police presence in the City of Binghamton. On Tuesday, Mayor Jared Kraham announced that the Binghamton Police Department is increasing traffic patrols in order to reduce speeding and violations. Kraham released the following statement: 'I've heard from a growing number of residents concerned about drivers going too fast through their neighborhoods or running stop signs, putting others at risk. Binghamton Police will be cracking down on speeding and other traffic violations over the coming weeks, with extra patrols focused on reducing the number of drivers who break the law and make our neighborhoods less safe. Alongside foot and bike patrols and other community policing initiatives, this increased traffic enforcement is part of our broader effort to improve neighborhood safety across Binghamton.' During the initiative, Binghamton Police will focus on high traffic areas, giving special attention to school zones, City park zones, and hospital zones. Officers will also use a portable speed trailer, which displays drivers' speed as they pass, to help reduce speeding.
