BJP Telangana chief welcomes Malegaon verdict
Addressing the media on Thursday, he stated that the judgment exposed what he termed as the 'Congress Party's conspiracy to disrupt national security and communal harmony.' In the wake of the NIA court's verdict, he demanded an apology from the Congress MPs Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and the then Union Home Minister Chidambaram for allegedly peddling the 'Hindu Terror' narrative.
'The Malegaon verdict is a testament to truth prevailing over political plots. The Congress tried to malign the integrity of certain individuals and institutions back then,' Rao said, adding that the acquittals reflected a judicial rebuttal of politically motivated allegations.
The BJP leader also welcomed the Supreme Court's directive to the Telangana Assembly Speaker, asking for a decision within three months on the disqualification petitions filed against MLAs who had defected from the BRS to the Congress. He noted that the ruling reaffirmed the democratic principle of accountability and condemned the 'rampant abuse' of the Anti-Defection Law.
'In the past, BRS indulged in defections. Today, the Congress is replicating that misuse. Grabbing MLAs after elections not only breaches the people's mandate, it undermines democratic ethics,' Rao asserted. Turning his focus to the Congress's Janahita Padayatra, Rao questioned the party's claim of serving public interest. He alleged that the Congress had failed to deliver on key electoral promises and declarations made to youth, BCs, SCs, STs, women, farmers, and students.
'Congress came to power, making promises to every section of society. Yet, they have neither implemented the six guarantees nor fulfilled the commitments made in their manifesto,' he said. Rao demanded that the party release a white paper detailing its progress and fulfilment of poll assurances. 'Only then will they earn the moral right to step among the people with slogans of public welfare,' he added.
Accusing the Congress of deception and political opportunism, Rao reiterated the BJP's commitment to transparent governance and safeguarding democratic institutions. His remarks come amid heightened political discourse in Telangana surrounding party defections, fulfilment of poll guarantees, and inter-party clashes over governance integrity. Earlier, he, along with several BJP leaders, garlanded the statue and paid tributes to Captain Veera Raja Reddy on the occasion of his death anniversary at Habsiguda.

Protect spiritual rights of SCs/STs, BJP urges PM
Hyderabad: In an appeal that blends constitutional concern with cultural preservation, Telangana BJP chief N. Ramachander Rao has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, urging immediate attention to a landmark legal matter affecting the spiritual rights of SC/ST communities. The letter, dated August 18, 2025, calls for the central government's proactive engagement in Special Reference Case No. 1 of 2025, currently under review by the Supreme Court's Constitution Bench. Rao's appeal comes in regard to issue No. 12 framed by the Court, which pertains to the 'substantial Deity interest and Doctrine of Dharma' associated with Tiruppan Alwar Ammal, a revered saint whose legacy holds deep devotional significance for historically marginalised communities. Rao emphasised that the case involves profound constitutional interpretation and must be heard by a bench of no fewer than five judges, as mandated by Article 145(3) of the Indian Constitution. 'The framers of our Constitution set a high bar for cases involving substantial questions of law,' Rao wrote, 'to prevent ad-hoc or inadequate decisions that could disrupt the spiritual and societal fabric of the nation.' He cautioned that failure to address the doctrinal implications with sensitivity could lead to the erosion of inclusive temple traditions and diminish the representation of SC/ST communities in spiritual spaces. Rao's letter also noted that the Attorney General of India, R. Venkataramani, has been appointed as 'Amicus Curiae' in the case and urged the Prime Minister to ensure that the government's legal counsel is appropriately instructed to handle the matter with cultural and constitutional awareness. Rao's intervention comes amid growing national discourse on temple governance, caste equity, and the role of constitutional morality in religious affairs. His letter seeks to bridge legal deliberation with cultural continuity, advocating for a judicial approach that respects both the Constitution and India's pluralistic devotional heritage. 'The substantial Deity interest and Dharma doctrine of Tiruppan Alwar Ammal are not just theological concerns,' Rao asserted, 'but foundational to the spiritual dignity of SC/ST communities who form a significant part of our nation.' In his letter, Rao called for the central government to actively support the case, ensuring that the voices of marginalised communities are not sidelined in the evolving legal and spiritual discourse.

Samrat Choudhary calls Rahul–Tejashwi's 'Vote Adhikar Yatra' a flop show
Patna: Bihar Deputy Chief Minister and BJP leader Samrat Choudhary on Tuesday launched a scathing attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and RJD leader and former Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav, saying their 'Vote Adhikar Yatra' was a flop show. Sharing a 17-second video on his X account, Deputy Chief Minister Choudhary described the campaign as a flop show. "The silence of the road is telling – those who talk nonsense have no existence in Bihar," he wrote, alleging that when crowds did not turn up for the yatra, the driver of Nabinagar MLA Vijay Kumar Singh and a journalist were beaten up. He termed the incident a reflection of "Jungle Raj". Escalating his attack, Choudhary said, "The people have rejected them. The flop yatra of the princes of Delhi and Bihar is still going on." His remarks were seen as a direct jibe at Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav, underscoring the BJP–NDA's strategy to portray the opposition's outreach programmes as out of touch with the masses.
