Lakers Fans Upset After Celtics Trade Report on Wednesday

Lakers Fans Upset After Celtics Trade Report on Wednesday originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
The Boston Celtics have already reshaped their roster this offseason, parting ways with two of their championship pieces—veteran guard Jrue Holiday and starting big man Kristaps Porzingis. The two were traded to the Portland Trail Blazers and Atlanta Hawks, respectively. The moves saved over $180 million in luxury-tax obligations, and with forward Jayson Tatum set to miss most or all of the 2025-26 following an Achilles tear, the Celtics are making big changes.

But despite the big trades, Boston hasn't stopped receiving offers and are reportedly exploring every avenue to align their cap situation, as they hope to remain competitive while anticipating Tatum's return.

Amid these speculations, Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints provided some new intel ahead of Wednesday's draft night. Per Siegel, the Utah Jazz have made an aggressive pitch to acquire one of Boston's biggest contracts—Brown. The Jazz reportedly approached Boston to explore what it would take to land the 2024 Finals MVP.
However, the news was not well received by Lakers fans, with some predicting the deal could involve longtime LA target—Walker Kessler. Fans immediately took to social media to express their displeasure.
"DANNY HATES LAL. THATS IT YALL HAHAHAHA," another fan added.

"Smh. They might give the Celtics Walker Kessler, Sexton, and John Collins," wrote another.
"We're really about to be stuck with garbage bigs," another fan mentioned.
"Kessler going to the [expletive] Celtics. CAN THIS DAY GET ANY WORSE?" a fan questioned.
"Deandre ayton it is💀😭," another fan posted.
"Stg I'm about to crash out," said another.

49ers McCaffrey Update Boosts Confidence for Impactful Return

49ers McCaffrey Update Boosts Confidence for Impactful Return originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Just one year after enjoying the most memorable season of his career, Christian McCaffrey suffered perhaps his most forgetful. Advertisement The San Francisco 49ers star running back appeared in just four games in the middle of the 2024 season due to Achilles and knee injuries. In 2023, he powered the Niners' to a conference championship as the Offensive Player of the Year with over 2,000 yards from scrimmage. After a long offseason of recovery, many around the 49ers organization believe "CMC" is back to full strength, threatening a return to team contention after last year's 6-11 season with him on the sideline for most of it. 49ers beat writer Matt Barrows of The Athletic has chimed in with the latest update, it being another quote that is sweet music to the ears of Niners Nation. "Christian McCaffrey is healthy again," Barrows reported in his notebook of takeaways from spring workouts. "Following a 2024 season marred by Achilles and knee issues, McCaffrey said his goal this spring was to be available for all of the 49ers' OTA and minicamp sessions." Advertisement Barrows added: "And while he didn't look quite like he did in the spring of 2023 ... he didn't have to sit out any sessions. That was a boost of confidence for the running back, who said he'll be back to training as usual during the summer break, and to a 49ers offense that missed McCaffrey last season, especially in the red zone." To the man himself, this isn't a surprise. He has always stated his mission of being a full participant in minicamp and the upcoming training camp. McCaffrey - an unfortunately frequent visitor of the rehabilitation department throughout his career - acknowledged that he's learned how to recovery and had to "start from scratch" in order to return to optimal health. With an offense that surrounds him with multiple weapons, McCaffrey may not need to return to an MVP-caliber level, but of course, Kyle Shanahan and the 49ers will take the best that he has to offer. Advertisement That seems not just possible, but probable, thanks to another optimistic report. When will the sale of the Lakers officially close?

Ever since the Buss family agreed to sell a majority share of the Los Angeles Lakers to Mark Walter, the CEO of Guggenheim Partners and the primary owner of the Los Angeles Dodgers, there has been plenty of excitement about what lies ahead for the Lakers. Fans believe that the days of penny-pinching are over and that the franchise will start sparing no expense in order to bring in the best people, as much as the NBA's salary cap will allow. One question many have had is when the sale will officially be completed and how long the transition will take. According to ESPN, the sale is expected to close sometime in the second half of this year. "Businessman Mark Walter's acquisition of the majority ownership stake of the Los Angeles Lakers, in a deal that puts the franchise valuation at $10 billion, is expected to close in the third or fourth quarter of this year." Walter has owned the Dodgers since 2012, and during that time, they have finished first in the National League West while winning two of the last five World Series championships. They have become one of the best, if not the best, organizations in all of Major League Baseball in terms of how they have been run from top to bottom. The hope is that the Lakers will soon operate in a similar manner, instead of being allegedly run like a mom-and-pop small business, as they have for years under the ownership of the Buss family.
