Four-song EP by Late Singer Faithfull to Be Released in April
"As we grieve the loss of Marianne, we are pleased to announce the release of these songs which she worked on during the year before her death," said her son Nicholas Dunbar.
"Marianne lived to create and perform music –- it was her driving force and she never stopped. Right up until the end she was looking forward to this release which now completes and celebrates her remarkable artistic career."
Faithfull was an icon of Swinging Sixties culture and was known for her tempestuous relationship with Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger, said AFP.
The "Burning Moonlight" EP will be released as a limited-edition vinyl on April 12 and worldwide digitally on June 6.
The EP was originally due to be revealed in February but the announcement was put on hold following the singer's death on January 30.
"We decided to bring the music full circle. One side of the EP would be inspired by her debut pop LP 'Marianne Faithfull' while the flip would honor her folk roots on 'Come My Way'," said the EP's executive producer Andrew Batt.
The title song, available from Friday, is described as a "moving ballad of resilience and acceptance".
"It's a good time to look back," Faithfull said after completing the project, according to the press release.
"It helps me to remember all the things I've done. I can't say I'm a particularly nostalgic person, but I am enjoying this period of reflection."
The singer got her first break in 1964, after being discovered by Rolling Stones manager Andrew Loog Oldham.
Her first hit "As Tears Go By" written by Jagger and his fellow Rolling Stone Keith Richards, was followed with a string of successful singles, including "Come And Stay with Me", "This Little Bird" and "Summer Nights".
She also acted in films including "The Girl on a Motorcycle" and theatre productions.
She fell on hard times that included living in a squat and a heroin addiction following the end of her relationship with Jagger in 1970.
But she returned with the classic album "Broken English" in 1979 and later reinvented herself as a jazz and blues singer with 1987's critically acclaimed "Strange Weather".

"People have sort of fallen in love with these characters". 'Beautiful' The television series, created by Julian Fellowes, first aired in the UK in 2010 before conquering the world. It tells the story of the wealthy aristocratic Crawley family and their servants over a 30-year period, spanning six seasons and 52 episodes. More than 120 million viewers worldwide have seen the show, according to Bonhams. Two films were released in 2019 and 2022 and a third, "The Grand Finale", is due out on September 12. It will focus on divorce and the Crawley's survival in a constantly changing world. Visitors to the exhibition on Monday viewed the pieces with a reverential eye, with one woman taking a long look at the cane used by Violet Crawley, played by Maggie Smith, who died in September 2024. "It's a beautiful item," she told AFP, without giving her name. "I would like to buy the cane for my mother-in-law who is turning 70, but I am not sure how she'll take it," she added, with a smile. Other highlights include Lord and Lady Grantham's 1925 Sunbeam saloon car, which still runs (valued between £25,000 and £35,000), the dress worn by Lady Mary at her wedding to Matthew Crawley (valued between £3,000 and £5,000), and a pair of harem pants belonging to Lady Sybil, valued similarly. 'Glamorous' "My favorite piece(s) right now are just all the dresses. I don't think I could even pick one, they're all just so beautiful," said Hailey Bradley, a 23-year-old American living in London. "It's so glamorous," added Bradley, who described herself as "a big fan." Lucia Campara, an Italian woman from Milan, came with her husband and their 11-year-old daughter, Giulia. She organized the family holiday with the goal of visiting important places in Jane Austen's life, and discovering the worlds of Harry Potter and Downton Abbey. "It's a unique occasion to see all those objects that will soon disappear," she explained. But Campara does not plan to bid, saying: "The best pieces will cost too much and anyway, it is not something you would use in your daily life." Jenny Foster, an 85-year-old British woman, was particularly interested in 1920s dresses, as she expressed her disappointment that the saga was coming to an end. "In fact, I shall probably watch it all again anyway now, because I've forgotten some of it now," she said. 'Call of Duty' to Fire Starting Gun at Gamescom Trade Show
Mega-selling first-person shooter franchise "Call of Duty" will blow open the Gamescom video games trade fair Tuesday, headlining a wave of new releases as the industry weathers a rough patch. Around 5,000 people, including game publishers, developers and fans, will attend the evening launch ceremony, before hundreds of thousands of gamers descend on the western German city of Cologne later in the week, said AFP. Canadian TV presenter Geoff Keighley will from 8:00 pm (1800 GMT) introduce titles including "Call of Duty: Black Ops 7", one of two dozen instalments in the long-running series, as part of a two-hour showreel of the industry's upcoming blockbuster productions. After a business and press day on Wednesday, Gamescom's doors will be flung open until Sunday to bring around 1,500 exhibitors together with swarms of fans, some of them dressed in elaborate costumes painstakingly drawn from the screens of their favorite titles. While last year's event drew 335,000 visitors, organizers hope 2025 can bring it back to pre-Covid levels of around 370,000. 'Ketamine Queen' to plead guilty in Matthew Perry overdose case
LOS ANGELES — A woman dubbed the "Ketamine Queen" has agreed to plead guilty to selling the drugs that ultimately killed Friends actor Matthew Perry. Jasveen Sangha, 42, will plead guilty to five charges in Los Angeles, including one count of distributing ketamine resulting in death or bodily injury, according to the Justice Department. The American-British dual-national originally faced nine criminal counts. Federal prosecutors called her Los Angeles home a "drug-selling emporium" and found dozens of vials of ketamine during a raid. Perry was found dead in a back yard jacuzzi at his Los Angeles home in October 2023, with an examination finding his death was caused by the acute effects of ketamine. Sangha is one of five people - including medical doctors and the actor's assistant - who US officials say supplied ketamine to Perry, exploiting his drug addiction for profit, and leading to his overdose death. They include: Dr Salvador Plasencia and Dr Mark Chavez, two doctors who sold ketamine; Kenneth Iwamasa, who worked as Perry's live-in assistant and both helped purchase and inject the actor with ketamine; and Eric Fleming, who sold ketamine he'd gotten from Sangha to Perry. All five have since agreed to plead guilty to charges in the case. Sangha's criminal trial had been pushed several times and currently was scheduled to begin next month. She is expected to appear in federal court in the coming weeks to formally enter her guilty plea as part of the agreement with federal authorities. Her attorney, Mark Geragos, told the BBC in a statement that "she's taking responsibility for her actions". Sangha faces a maximum sentence of 65 years in federal prison, according to the Justice Department. Ketamine is a dissociative anaesthetic that has some hallucinogenic effects, according to the US Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). It can distort perception of sight and sound and makes the user feel disconnected and not in control. It is used as an injectable anaesthetic for humans and animals because it makes patients feel detached from their pain and environment. The substance is supposed to be administered only by a physician, investigators say, and patients who have taken the drug should be monitored by a professional because of its possible harmful effects. Perry's death and the investigation into how he obtained so much of the drug over multiple years offered a glimpse into Hollywood's ketamine drug network, which one doctor called the "wild west" in an interview with the BBC. As part of her plea agreement, Sangha also plead guilty to selling ketamine to a man named Cody McLaury in August 2019, who died hours after the purchase from a drug overdose, according to the justice department. Federal authorities accused Sangha of supplying ketamine from her "stash house" in North Hollywood since at least 2019, alleging in an indictment that she worked with celebrities and high-end clients. More than 80 vials of ketamine were allegedly found there in a search before her arrest in March 2024, along with thousands of pills that included methamphetamine, cocaine and Xanax. The home, called the "Sangha Stash House" in a federal indictment, was where she is alleged to have packaged and distributed drugs. Sangha is said to have mixed with celebrities socially, with one of her friends telling the Daily Mail she attended the Golden Globes and the Oscars.
