Union Ministers, Delhi CM flag off Har Ghar Tiranga Bike Rally ahead of I-Day
Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju, Union Culture Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Union Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, along with several Members of Parliament, flagged off the rally.
Speaking to reporters, CM Rekha Gupta said, "With chants of 'Bharat Maa Ki Jai,' thousands of bikes, carrying the Tricolour in hand, set out today, as the sky and the winds echo with the slogans in praise of Mother India."
"Today, from the MPs to our brave soldiers, everyone is expressing their patriotism. Even years after independence, our love for our country continues to grow with each passing year. I thank PM Narendra Modi for taking this national festival to every household," she added.
She also extended her best wishes to the people of the country for Independence Day.
Targeting the Opposition, the Chief Minister stated, "Before 2014, was anyone seen celebrating Independence Day like this? Did anyone see any Prime Minister taking along the Tricolour and chanting 'Bharat Mata Ki Jai'? The people who show off the Constitution by taking it everywhere will never say 'Bharat Mata Ki Jai'."
Earlier in the day, CM Rekha Gupta, accompanied by Minister Ashish Sood, flagged off the Tiranga Cyclothon for girls from Vidhan Sabha to Rajghat.
Speaking at the event, she said, "Delhi's daughters are participating in this cycle ride, cyclothon. I see this Cyclothon as a new flight and a new chapter for the daughters of Delhi. These girls, in thousands, are here to take the country forward."
"The Delhi government will work to ensure a bright future for the daughters of Delhi. Ahead of Independence Day, I extend my best wishes to all these daughters who have come forward to contribute to the country's progress," the Chief Minister added.
Over the last three years, the Har Ghar Tiranga initiative has evolved into a people's movement, with citizens from all walks of life embracing the idea and showing their support through active participation in both online and offline events across the country.

Centre approves two semiconductor units for Odisha
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Tuesday said the Union Cabinet's approval for the establishment of two semiconductor units in Odisha will accelerate the state's growth in the CM expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for the Centre's approval of the two semiconductor units in Odisha. "Silicon carbide is a very robust material and can sustain at high temperatures. Silicon carbide is used in our missiles, satellites, telecom towers, rockets, railway engines, etc," Vaishnaw said. The minister said that the plant will have a capacity to produce 9.6 crore chips per Cabinet also approved US chip major Intel-backed 3D Glass semiconductor manufacturing unit in Odisha with an investment of Rs 1,943 crore. This compound semiconductor fab will have an annual capacity of 60,000 wafers and packaging capacity of 96 million units. The proposed products will have applications in missiles, defence equipment, electric vehicles (EVs), railway, fast chargers, data centre racks, consumer appliances, and solar power inverters, an official statement said.3D Glass Solutions Inc (3DGS) will be setting up a vertically integrated advanced packaging and embedded glass substrate unit in Info Valley, Bhubaneshwar, Odisha. No government school has closed down in Kerala in nine years: Minister
Minister for General Education V. Sivankutty has denied that government schools in Kerala are closing down. Not a single government school in the State was closed in the past nine years, the Minister said in a Facebook post on Tuesday. Union government statistics that showed a decline in government schools were baseless and an attempt to discredit the State, Mr. Sivankutty alleged. Union Minister of State for Education Jayant Chaudhary, in reply to an unstarred question by K. Radhakrishnan, MP, in the Lok Sabha on closure of government schools across the country, had submitted that 205 schools had closed down from 2019-20 to 2023-24 (201 from 2021-22). Referring to the numbers, Mr. Sivankutty said these were related to multi-grade learning centres (MGLCs), started as part of District Primary Education Programme (DPEP), a Centrally sponsored scheme, in the early 1990s. Once the Right to Education was passed, these could not continue as schools and were gradually phased out. Facilities, including free transport, had been arranged for the MGLC students to shift to nearby schools. As per the figures presented in the Lok Sabha, there were 5,014 government schools in 2019-20. It rose to 5,020 in 2020-21, fell to 5010 a year later, and further declined to 4,811 in 2022-23 and 4,809 in 2023-24. the data were sourced from UDISE and UDISE+ databases on school education in the country. 'Not updated data' Officials say UDISE+ data is directly updated by schools and hence not properly validated by the General Education department. Sampoorna is the State's official school management portal for everything from student strength to textbooks distribution and scholarships, but the Union government does not use this data. It had been proposed sometime ago that data on the Sampoorna portal along with other parameter details be collected and submitted to the Union government. However, that did not happen. Moreover, the data on UDISE was not up to date, unlike in the State where it is updated on the sixth working day every year. The UDISE data quoted by the Union government was not updated for even the 2024-25 academic year, they point out. The MGLC were not really considered government schools, they point out. According to the Sametham portal maintained by the Kerala Infrastructure and Technology for Education, there are 5,813 government schools in the State.
