Jul. 14—Bruce Allen Black Bruce Allen Black, a long-time resident of Farmington, New Mexico passed away on July 8, 2025. Bruce was born August 20, 1936 in Albuquerque New Mexico to Ruth E. (French) and Harmon Black who preceded him in death. Rear Admiral Black received his second star and was the Commander of the Naval Reserve Intelligence Command of the United States for five years. Bruce A. Black graduated from Highland High School in 1954 in Albuquerque, New Mexico and joined the Naval Reserve as a seaman recruit in 1953. He received his Bachelors Degree from the University of Texas El Paso. Upon graduation in 1959, he married the former Marjorie Manget Watkins, his wife of 66 years. Bruce received his Masters Degree and his PhD in Geology from the University of New Mexico. After working for Shell Oil Company, he established his own company, Black Oil, as an independent consultant geologist. Most recently, he was the President of Black Exploration, LLC in Farmington, NM. He designed and created Kokopelli Cave, a unique Bed and Breakfast He loved to fly his airplanes and fish the mountain streams. Bruce served on the Board of the New Mexico Museum of Natural History during its establishment in Albuquerque. He also served as the President of the Rocky Mountain Section of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists and member the Board of San Juan Regional Medical Center. In addition to his parents, Bruce was preceded in death by his brother, James H. Black and wife Eleanor Black. He is survived by his wife of over 66 years, Marjorie, their children Leigh Irvin (Joel) and Bruce Harmon Black as well as grandchildren, Ashleigh (husband Vincent Gomez), Marilei Black and Alice and Tasha Irvin, and Great-Granddaughter Ruth Gomez. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Contributions may be made to New Mexico Right to Life, The Wounded Warriors Project, San Juan College Foundation, or an organization of your choice.

Jul. 14—Becky Jo Faaborg (Devine/Kroesen) Becky Jo (Devine) Faaborg, 72, passed away on June 21, 2025, surrounded by family. Born on August 19, 1952, in Sioux City, Iowa, she was the youngest of five to Bob and Betty Devine. Becky graduated from Jefferson High and earned her Nursing degree from UNM, dedicating 15 years to labor and delivery nursing. Becky lived in Albuquerque until 2000 when she connected with the love of her life, Jim, at a high school reunion. Getting married in Santa Fe in 2006, she continued her life with Jim in Edmond, Oklahoma, completing her nursing career and earning a Master's degree from UCO. Becky is survived by her husband Jim; daughters Jessica Hukill (Kroesen) and Jacquie Anaya (Kroesen); grandchildren Zavian and Ayana; and her siblings. Join us to celebrate Becky's life on Thursday, July 24, 2025 from 4:00 — 7:00 PM at The Lookout at Kickingbird in Edmond, OK. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Tenaciously Teal.

Jul. 14—Helen Rose Mahedy Helen Rose Mahedy, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on July 1, 2025, at the age of 91. Born and raised in Springfield Gardens, New York, Helen was known for her warm heart, gracious spirit, and unwavering love for her family. Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Paul F. Mahedy, her mother, Mary J. Burns, her father, James D. Burns, and her brother, James D. Burns. She is survived by her son, John Hughes Mahedy (Hughie) and his wife Bernadette, daughter Paula Mahedy-Aragon and husband Vincent J. Aragon, her grandchildren, Nicholas Aragon, Emily Aragon, Amanda Robinson and husband Gordon Barnard, Alyssa Robinson, and her great-grandchildren, Amos and Eero Barnard. Helen met the love of her life, Paul, at the Roller Rink when she was just 17 years old. They married in 1953 when she was 19 and Paul was 21. Together, they celebrated over 55 years of marriage before Paul's passing in 2008. Their love story was one of devotion and companionship, a testament to their enduring bond. Helen had a passion for gardening and took great joy in tending to her flowers. Her garden reflected her nurturing nature and love for beauty. She was always gracious and friendly to everyone she met, leaving a lasting impression on those who had the pleasure of knowing her. Helen's legacy lives on through her family, who will forever cherish the memories they shared with her. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Services will be held on Tuesday July 15th, 2025 at 10am at Daniels Family Funerals, 7601 Wyoming Blvd NE Albuquerque, NM.
