Man (39) appears in court in connection with aggravated burglary in Cork city
Malcolm Kelly of Coolageala, Kanturk, Co Cork, was charged with burglary with intent to commit criminal damage and assault and with a count of criminal damage.

Both alleged offences relate to an incident at Lagan Grove in Mayfield in Cork city at 12:40am on Monday during which three men entered a property armed with implements.
The intruders confronted the occupants before fleeing.
Mr Kelly appeared before a sitting of Mallow District Court in Co Cork on Tuesday.
Evidence of arrest, charge and caution was given by certificate. No bail application was made.
Defence solicitor Charlie O'Connor said that an application for bail will be made when Mr Kelly is next before the court.
Free legal aid was assigned. Judge Treasa Kelly remanded Mr Kelly in custody to appear before a sitting of Cork District Court on August 15th next.
A bail application will be made at that juncture. DPP directions are awaited in the case.
The Garda Press Office has previously indicated that a man in his 30s was transferred to hospital by ambulance following the incident at Lagan Grove on Monday.
A technical examination was carried out at the scene. Investigations are ongoing.

'F*** the phone,' one intruder demanded, attempting to pull away his accomplice as he struggled to unlock the device. Ms Akbulut, who was also threatened with a gun, claimed that intruders were looking for her daughter's partner, Ibrahim Al-Sayah, who doesn't live at the home. Al-Sayah previously pleaded guilty over his role in a drive-by shooting at a Melbourne bakery in July 2020 where he acted as the getaway driver. Ms Akbulut described Al-Sayah as a 'piece of s***' in an explosive interview with Seven News following the home invasion. 'He likes acting like a gangster. This is not a movie, lad. It's not a f***ing movie,' she said, before adding that her 22-year-old daughter has since gone into hiding. 'I'm just waiting for the police to knock (on) the door and say to me: "Your daughter's shot" or "your daughter's been killed",' she said. Ms Akbalut, who was nursing a swollen, bruised face during the interview, called on the state government to crack down on violent crime. A Victorian man involved in an airport scuffle in which a police gun was accidentally fired is back in custody for allegedly assaulting several people the next day. Nicholas Teplin, 41, faced a court on Friday on allegations he hit three men in the head at Sydney's Central railway station and then shoved a police officer while in custody. He allegedly approached a man and punched him in the face at the station on Thursday afternoon, causing the alleged victim to fall on the floor with a bleeding nose, police said. The 41-year-old then struck another two men in the head as he made his way through the station's concourse, police allege. Teplin was charged with multiple offences, including assault of a police officer after he allegedly pushed a constable in the chest while in custody. Woman charged with assaulting security guard at hotel housing migrants - after resident 'walked into her flat'
A woman has been charged with assaulting a security guard at a hotel housing migrants - after one of its residents allegedly walked into her flat. The migrant, who is in his early 20s, has also been arrested on suspicion of assault following Wednesday's alleged incident at the Britannia Hotel in central London's Canary Wharf. Footage had circulated of a man entering a house after being told "to go back to the hotel" - and he was later detained by members of the public. It is understood he had been staying at the Britannia Hotel at the time, but no longer resides there. Channay Augustus has been charged with possession of an offensive weapon, affray, assault on an emergency worker, common assault and possession of cannabis. The 22-year-old is an occupant of the flat that had been entered. According to the Metropolitan Police, the affray and common assault charges relate to an altercation at the hotel on Wednesday evening. Protests have been held outside that hotel in recent weeks, and the alleged victim of the common assault works there as a security guard. Augustus will appear at Thames Magistrates' Court on Friday. Officers arrested the migrant in the Hackney area on suspicion of common assault in the early hours of this morning. He remains in police custody.
