Authorities obtain search warrant related to explosion that killed 3 deputies at LA County facility
The blast, which happened at the Biscailuz Training Facility just after 7:30 a.m., killed three deputies assigned to the arson explosives detail.
The fallen deputies had a combined 74 years of service, according to L.A. County Sheriff Robert Luna.
No other injuries were reported, and there is no threat to the community, according to Luna.

LASD officials told Fox News Digital that the same personnel involved in Friday's fatal blast responded to a call Thursday at a complex in Santa Monica where they assisted the local police department in seizing explosives.

It is unclear if the deputies killed on Friday were examining the explosives at the time of the blast.
LASD said homicide detectives are in the process of obtaining a search warrant for the Santa Monica location and "out of the abundance of caution," the LAPD bomb squad, L.A. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in Los Angeles will search the location for any potential explosive materials.
"At this time, it is not determined if the devices found yesterday have any correlation to today's critical incident," officials wrote in a statement to Fox Digital. "Santa Monica PD is assisting the Sheriff's Department in this incident and have evacuated the residents in the complex. They are in the process of locating a shelter for displaced residents."
The FBI and ATF are investigating the "post-blast portion" of the incident, according to Luna.
The tragedy marked the largest loss of life within the department since 1857.
"If you're familiar with our Special Enforcement Bureau, they're the best of the best. The individuals who work on our arson explosives detail have years of training," Luna said. "They average about 1,100 [calls] per year, so these aren't people who don't do this very often. They are fantastic experts, and unfortunately, I lost three of them today. … There are other law enforcement agencies who have bomb techs, not only around the country, around the world, that want to know what happened here. We want to make sure that we don't repeat this."

Attorney General Pam Bondi wrote in a series of X posts that she spoke with Bill Essayli, U.S. Attorney for the Central District of California, and the LASD sheriff regarding the "horrific incident."
"I just spoke to @USAttyEssayli about what appears to be a horrific incident that killed at least three at a law enforcement training facility in Los Angeles," Bondi wrote. "Our federal agents are at the scene and we are working to learn more. Please pray for the families of the sheriff's deputies killed."
Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Kristi Noem confirmed DHS is working with state and federal law enforcement in relation to the incident.
California Gov. Gavin Newsom was briefed and offered full state assistance to the sheriff's office, according to a statement.
Los Angeles Fire Department Capt. Erik Scott confirmed LAFD's arson and ATF members are assisting with the investigation.
Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass offered the city's support in an X post.
"The thoughts of all Angelenos are with all of those impacted by this blast," Bass wrote.

Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp also weighed in on social media, offering his family's prayers.
"Any loss of life in law enforcement is a sad and difficult circumstance," Kemp wrote in a post. "Marty, the girls, and I are saddened by the tragedy at the @LASDHQ Sheriff's Office and are praying for the families of those killed in today's accident."

Police officer shoots allegedly armed assault suspect in Northridge
Police shot an allegedly armed man accused of assault on Sunday night, leaving him hospitalized, authorities confirmed. The Los Angeles Police Department said officers responded to reports of an assault with a deadly weapon at around 7:35 p.m. in the 9300 block of Corbin Avenue, which is a busy shopping center filled with restaurants and stores. When officers made contact with the suspect, he led them on a brief foot pursuit, police said. At one point during that pursuit, at least one officer opened fire, striking the man. The man, who remains unidentified publicly, was transported to a local hospital in stable condition. A gun believed to be his was recovered at the scene, according to police. A LAPD public information officer confirmed that there were no other injuries that occurred as a result of this incident. No additional details, including potential charges for the man, were immediately made available.

California man accused of ramming car into LA crowd is convicted felon out on parole, police say
The suspect accused of driving his car through a crowd of people in Los Angeles is a convicted felon who was out on parole, reports said. Fernando Ramirez, 29, of San Clemente, is expected to face a felony charge of assault with a deadly weapon following early Saturday's incident, which left 36 injured outside the Vermont Hollywood nightclub. Ramirez was convicted of felony battery and sentenced in 2020 for attacking a man outside a Whole Foods grocery store in June 2019, KNBC reported Sunday. He was on parole at the time of Saturday's crash, but it's unclear whether it was in connection with the 2019 attack or another case. Ramirez has had at least 11 criminal cases ranging from misdemeanors to felonies, KNBC reported. In January 2022, he was charged with felony domestic battery and entered a not guilty plea. That case remains open and he also has a pending DUI case, the station added, citing the Orange County District Attorney's Office. Los Angeles Police Department Public Information Officer Jeff Lee previously told reporters that the Nissan Versa "became disabled" when the driver plowed into the crowd. Subsequently, the driver was allegedly "pulled out of his vehicle, physically assaulted by the bystanders. And during that altercation, somebody produced a firearm and shot the driver." As of Monday morning, police were still searching for the suspected shooter, described as a man with a goatee in a blue Dodgers jacket. Lee added that he was aware of reports that the suspect was kicked out of the Vermont Hollywood nightclub, but that he could not confirm whether that was the case. He said it was something the police were "definitely" looking into. A line of people — mostly women — were waiting to enter the Vermont Hollywood around 2 a.m. when they were struck by a car that also hit a food vending cart and valet stand, Fire Capt. Adam VanGerpen said Saturday. At least 36 people were treated for injuries including fractures and lacerations, police said Sunday without providing updates on their conditions. "We are deeply saddened by the tragic incident that occurred early Saturday morning outside our venue.
