Over 1.22cr farmers received skill training imparted by central govt in 3 years: Union minister Ramnath Thakur
Sandhu had sought details regarding the skill development programmes run to enhance the capacity of farmers in modern techniques, agro-processing, or agri-exports and the number of farmers trained under such schemes during the last three years.
The MoS, in a written reply, stated: "The Union govt trained 1,15,76,893 farmers under Support to State Extension Programmes for Extension Reforms, popularly known as the ATMA (Agricultural Technology Management Agency) Scheme, implemented in all 740 districts of 28 states and five UTs in the country in the last three years."
"More than 5,96,000 farmers at Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) and as many as 45,565 farmers were trained under the Skill Training of Rural Youth (STRY) programme during the same period, taking the total number of farmers trained under these three programmes to 1.22 crore in the last three years," the MoS added.
Thakur further said while 99,162 farmers were trained under the KVK programme in Punjab in the last three years, as many as 2,547 farmers were skilled under the STRY scheme during the same period.

A total of 8,455 farmers were trained in Pathankot district, 6,485 in Bathinda, and 6,181 in Tarn Taran, making them the top three districts in Punjab with the highest number of trained farmers in the state, he informed.
The minister also stated the short-duration skill-based training programmes were organised by the State Agriculture Management and Extension Training Institutes through different training partners, including the KVK.

NEW DELHI: Brushing aside the allegation by opposition MPs Asaduddin Owaisi and Randeep Surjewala that the special intensive revision of electoral roll in Bihar is an exercise in disenfranchising minorities and precarious communities, the Election Commission on Wednesday asked them to get all such electors to file their claims and objections before Sept 1. "Mr Owaisi and Mr Surjewala should ensure that their state units and booth level agents (BLAs) facilitate those they complain have been wrongfully excluded to file their claims with the ERO to add them back in the electoral roll. Interestingly, even as the national party leaders have been complaining of alleged irregularities and imperfections in the roll, not a single claim or objection was filed by any of the 1.6 lakh party BLAs in the field, between publication of the roll on Aug 1 and 9 am on Wednesday," said an EC official. On the other hand, 3,659 individual electors directly filed their claims and objections during this period. Another 19,186 newly-eligible electors have also filed pleas for fresh enrolment through Form 6, along with the mandatory declaration. EC on Wednesday said it is revising the Bihar roll as per the Constitution and the extant laws, and with full transparency. Porvorim: Opposition MLAs launched a scathing attack on state govt during discussions on education grants, criticising the rushed implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) and a significant decline in enrolment at govt technical institutions. Carlos Ferreira accused govt of implementing the NEP without proper planning, stating that despite claims of reducing the content load, 'they have increased the theory-based content' and failed to rationalise curricular activities. He highlighted considerable gaps, including the absence of NEP-based textbooks for classes IX and X, and the lack of semester systems for classes VIII-X as mandated by the policy. 'Any new system should be introduced gradually, not forced upon,' Ferreira said, pointing out that students are overwhelmed with assignments, giving them no time for recreational activities. CM: TN has double digit growth of 11.19%
Chennai: Chief minister M K Stalin said TN has become the fastest growing state in the country overcoming multiple challenges. Citing a Union ministry of statistics report, Stalin said on Wednesday that TN's economic growth rate has touched 11.19%, surging past the previous estimate of 9.69%.
