Orlando Pirates sign Marumo Gallants star
Orlando Pirates have reportedly signed Marumo Gallants star attacker Masindi Nemtajela ahead of next season.
According to UnplayableZA , Nemtajela has agreed to a five-year deal with Pirates – four years with an option to renew for a further year.
The 23-year-old has been in scintillating form for Bahlabane Ba Ntwa this season, and his efforts have not gone unnoticed.
Nemtajela, who is a utility midfielder, featured in 19 matches across all competitions for Gallants this season.
He has one goal to his name for Marumo Gallants but he mostly featured in central midfield as a traditional number six.
Nemtajela was first linked with a possible move to the Sea Robbers over a week ago, and it looks like Pirates have finally sealed the deal. Marumo Gallants' Masindi Nemtajela challenges AmaZulu's Rowan Human. Image: iDiski Times

REVEALED: How nine uncapped newbies fit into Springbok picture?
A 54-man squad local and overseas-based players have been named for the Springboks' upcoming mid-year Tests starting later month. The group includes nine uncapped players, namely Ethan Hooker, Juarno Augustus, Vincent Tshituka, Ntokozo Makhaza, Renzo du Plessis, Neethling Fouche, Asenathi Ntlabakanye, Marnus van der Merwe, and Cobus Wiese. Ethan Hooker: A centre who is currently playing on the wing because his team needs him to, Hooker's strengths are his dominant ball-carrying, defence and breakdown ability. He brings a different type of versatility to the Springbok backline than the established utility backs in the squad. Neethling Fouche: The powerful Stormers tighthead prop provides much-needed cover for Frans Malherbe, who has been left out of the squad as he recovers from injury. Fouche looks set to earn his first Test cap and brings strength to the front row. Asenathi Ntlabakanye: Weighing in at 145kg, Ntlabakanye's sheer size makes him a standout figure. The Springbok coaching staff may see an opportunity to develop him into a dominant force in the scrum. Marnus van der Merwe: Hooker is another area where depth is needed, and Van der Merwe made a strong case for inclusion following impressive performances with the Scarlets in Wales and this form has now been rewarded with an official squad call-up. Vincent Tshituka: Born in the Congo, Tshituka recently obtained his South African ID, making him eligible for national selection. His inclusion bolsters the Springboks' depth at blindside flank, a position in need of reinforcement. Ntokozo Makhaza: A standout in the Varsity Cup, Makhaza's selection may have come as a surprise, but it's well earned. His pace and flair make him a thrilling addition to the wing options. Cobus Wiese: At 27, Wiese offers versatility with the ability to play both lock and loose forward. With his physicality and adaptability, he's well-positioned to feature in the mid-year Tests where squad rotation and experimentation are expected. Juarno Augustus: A key performer for the Northampton Saints this season, Augustus now brings valuable experience to the table. With injuries affecting the No. 8 position, he could be a strong and timely option for the Springboks during these rebuilding phase. Renzo du Plessis: Du Plessis is one of the brightest young prospects in South African rugby. A dynamic loose forward in the same mould as Kwagga Smith, he is likely to attract serious interest from the Springbok selectors. Orlando Pirates eyeing highly-rated youngster amid Saleng saga!
Orlando Pirates have already made themselves busy ahead of the upcoming offseason window, and it seems the next player in their sights is Zimbabwean 16-year-old Prince Ndlovu. 'He (Ndlovu) trained with Pirates in March 2023 and and at that time he was only 16-years-old. He was preparing to go to Europe but things didn't work out,' a source revealed. 'It's believed that since then Pirates scouts have apparently been monitoring him and now they are willing to give him a chance at the team. They have kept tabs on him and they are impressed by his progress at Highlanders FC in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe.' Monnapule Saleng's future at Orlando Pirates seems to have passed the point of no return following nearly six months on the sideline amid salary demands that club refused to meet. The latest news on the winger's future points to a shock move to Kaizer Chiefs, with whom he has reportedly signed a pre-contract with, however, this is yet to be confirmed. Sowetan legend Benedict Vilakazi doesn't approve of this move for the 27-year-old, saying, 'Is he (Saleng) that type of a player that can really play for Chiefs, the way they are playing? I don't think so.' 'An example, look at (Gaston) Sirino [at Kaizer Chiefs], he's no more the Sirino we knew at Sundowns, because of the type of players surrounding him.' 'What's happening to Sirino now, is the same thing that happened to Khama Billiat. The same thing that happened to Keagan Dolly and now it's happening to Sirino, you cannot have Sirino alone and not have other good players surrounding him.' 'Obviously he's going to have a lot on his shoulders. So, he needs support. So even if Saleng goes and plays for Kaizer Chiefs, he's going to struggle like Sirino is struggling, because there's no core at Chiefs that is very strong, that when everyone comes in (they fit in) like puzzles. Those pazzles at Chiefs are scattered.' Let us know by leaving a comment below, or send a WhatsApp to 060 011 021 1.
