Recently, Kesari Chapter 2 director Karan Singh Tyagi opened up about using the f-word in the film, claiming it was 'very important' for them to include.
Kesari Chapter 2: The Untold Story of Jallianwala Bagh, starring Akshay Kumar, R Madhavan and Ananya Pandey, has been making considerable buzz since its release on April 18. The period-drama movie, based on the horrifying incident of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre in 1919, has won over the audience and critics. This Karan Johar-backed film is directed by the debutant director Karan Singh Tyagi, who recently opened up about including the f-word in the film, claiming that it was 'very important' for the whole team.
During a recent interview with Filmy Shilmy, Karan defended the idea of including the word, revealing that the team consulted historians before adding it to the film. He stated, 'It was very important for us to include the 'f**k you' in the film because, for us, the whole point was to look the British in the eye and say 'f**k you' for what they had done. That was the courage we imbibed from Sankaran Nair's story, and it's the same courage we wanted to depict."
He further confirmed that the term originated in the 16th century. The team did the research, spoke to historians, and conducted all necessary background checks before including this phase in the film.
Moving on, Akshay Kumar, who has always been vocal about his opinion, also spoke about his character C Sankaran Nair, using the expletive in the teaser. The actor revealed, 'Yes, I used that word. But what's surprising is that you noticed this, yet the phrase 'you are still a slave' wasn't seen as a major insult? I think there's no greater insult than that."
He further added, 'I would have been happier if you had pointed out the use of the word 'slave' rather than focusing on 'f**k you,'" explaining his thoughts on the harsh phrases in the movie.
The historical courtroom drama Kesari Chapter 2: The Untold Story of Jallianwala Bagh is produced by Cape of Good Films, Leo Media Collective and Dharma Productions. Akshay Kumar plays Advocate C Sankaran Nair in the movie, who pushed the British Empire to find out what really happened during the Jallianwala Bagh Massacre.

King Charles to honour Air India crash victims at Trooping the Colour parade

King Charles III has directed members of the Royal Family to wear black armbands during this year's Trooping the Colour parade as a tribute to the victims of the recent Air India plane crash, Buckingham Palace announced. The ceremonial event, which marks the British monarch's official birthday, will also observe a minute's silence. According to a Palace spokesperson, the King requested the moment of reflection following his inspection of troops on Saturday, 'in recognition of the lives lost, the families in mourning, and all the communities affected by this awful tragedy.' Following the devastating plane crash that claimed the lives of 241 passengers and crew near Ahmedabad—with only one survivor—the King had issued a message expressing that he was 'desperately shocked by the terrible events in Ahmedabad.' In the days since, flags at royal residences have been flown at half-mast as a mark of mourning. The Trooping the Colour ceremony, one of the UK's most significant annual royal events, will involve 1,350 soldiers parading along Horse Guards Parade and The Mall in London. The King, currently undergoing cancer treatment, is expected to travel in a carriage rather than on horseback, as he did last year. The black armbands will be worn by senior royals in military dress—including King Charles and the Prince of Wales—as well as coachmen and women participating in the parade. Members of the Royal Family not in uniform are unlikely to wear the armbands, according to Palace sources cited by the BBC. This year's parade will feature the regimental colours of the Coldstream Guards. As is customary, the event will conclude with a flypast by the Royal Air Force's Red Arrows, watched by the Royal Family from the Buckingham Palace balcony. While King Charles's actual birthday is in November, the tradition of celebrating the sovereign's official birthday in summer dates back to the 18th century, largely to ensure more favourable weather for public festivities. Both the King and the Princess of Wales have recently resumed public appearances after undergoing cancer treatments. (With inputs from BBC)

Housefull 5 actor Soundarya Sharma cites Pakeezah and Guide while defending film against sexism allegations

Housefull 5 began its theatrical run on June 6, armed with a star-studded cast and two different endings. While the film has done well during its first week at the box office, audiences have pointed out that the narrative relies too much on sexist humour, and the women have been objectified throughout the story. One of the new additions to this franchise is actor Soundarya Sharma. She recently defended the film, saying that everyone is entitled to their opinion, and legendary films are often misunderstood by the people. While making an appearance on Entertainment Live's YouTube channel, Soundarya was asked about the backlash that the film has faced, and the actor quickly stated that she is just playing the character the way it was written. 'I think it depends on every individual's perspective. I don't mix my own vision with what my director wants me to do. The film was made on a lighter note, and everyone is just playing a character, and all these characters are a reflection of our own society.' She added that she is grateful for the people who are trolling the movie because that gives the film more publicity. ALSO READ: Housefull 5 Movie Review: Akshay Kumar film opens to poor reviews When asked for her own opinion of the film, Soundarya said that many times the audience doesn't truly understand what the director wants to say, and many great films have suffered from this problem. 'Not everyone will like whatever you put out there. I am sure people have certain disagreements with cult films like Baahubali and Animal, or maybe some of the old ones like Pakeezah or Guide. So I think this is just an amalgamation of opinions.' Despite the poor reviews, the film's India nett collection has crossed the Rs 130 crore mark within just the first week of its release, making it Akshay Kumar's 9th-highest-grossing film. Director Tarun Mansukhani also came to his film's rescue and accused the people of only focusing on the 'skin show' and objectification of women. He told News18 that 'It means that they're watching it with a certain eye and sensibility. You can scrutinise it. That's fine. You've paid money to watch it, and so you get to have an opinion on my film. It's not a placid film about which you don't care or have an opinion. For those who're calling it out, I want to say that it's your choice to see and focus on that aspect of the film.' The film stars Soundarya, Akshay, Abhishek Bachchan, Riteish Deshmukh, Jacqueline Fernandez, Nargis Fakhri, Sonam Bajwa, Sanjay Dutt, Jackie Shroff, Ranjeet, Dino Morea, Fardeen Khan, Chitrangada Singh, Johnny Lever and Chunky Panday, among others.
