London man charged with multiple arsons

A London man is facing charges in relation to three arsons on Hamilton Road.
The 28 year old has been charged with three counts of arson causing damage to property and breach of probation, after his arrest in the area of Egerton and Trafalgar streets.
On June 3 at approximately 6:30 p.m., the man was caught on surveillance video starting a fire behind a dumpster in the parking lot near the 400 block of Hamilton Road. He gathered debris and pallets, ignited the fire and departed shortly after.
The same day at 7 p.m., he started another fire outside a place of worship in the 600 block of Hamilton Road.
Previously, on June 1 at approximately 1 p.m., the man attended the same parking lot in the 400 block of Hamilton Road. He gathered pieces of wood and a wooden pallet, starting a fire which spread to a wooden fence on the south side of the parking lot.
Total damages are estimated at approximately $3,000.
The accused is expected to appear in court on Friday in relation to the charges.

Officers intervened and arrested a 38-year-old man after a short chase on foot. He has been charged with assault, theft under $5,000, mischief under $5,000, arson, and resisting arrest. Hours later at around 11:45 p.m., police saw a man lighting a home on fire on the 1000 block of 17th Street West. Police say they quickly arrested the 34-year-old man without incident and put out the flames using a fire extinguisher from their patrol car. The man has been charged with arson and failure to comply with a release order. Finally, at around 10 a.m. Thursday, police were called to the area near the 200 block of 32nd Street West, after a man was reported to be lighting a vehicle on fire. Officers arrived at the scene and found a man who matched the suspect's description. He was arrested without further incident. The 27-year-old accused faces charges related to attempted arson, mischief and breach of probation.

Police received several 911 calls around 2:15 p.m. Witnesses said three men went straight to the jewelry store, smashed display cases with a blunt object, emptied them, and fled to a getaway car before police arrived. Officers located the vehicle a few blocks away near Du College Street and Decarie Boulevard. They chased the suspects down on foot and bicycle. Three suspects, aged 19, 20, and 21, were arrested. No one was injured during the robbery and the total amount of the theft is unknown.

Waterloo Regional Police say an 18-year-old has been arrested following an armed robbery and attempted robbery in Cambridge. On Wednesday, just before 9 p.m., a male walked into an unnamed store at Pinebush Road and Franklin Boulevard. An employee said he purchased items and then demanded a refund. When the employee refused, the male pulled out a gun. Police said the employee found a safe place to hide and called 911. The suspect then went to another business where he smashed display cases and stole several BB guns. Police said no one was hurt in either incident. Officers found the man Thursday morning inside a parked vehicle at Holiday Inn Drive and Schiedel Court. The 18-year-old was arrested and charged with theft under $5,000, attempted robbery with a firearm, two counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and robbery with a firearm.
