Detroit Red Wings forward Marco Kasper delivered a standout performance in his latest outing at the 2025 World Championship.
The 21-year-old scored twice May 16 to help his native Austria bank a 5-2 victory over France at Avicii Arena in Stockholm on Day 8 of the international event. The tournament runs through May 25 in Sweden and Herning, Denmark.

'It was an interesting game," Kasper told the International Ice Hockey Federation website. "We came out strong, got goals early which was huge for us. It was a good win for us, and we're happy with that. We'll try to stay focused on the next game and not look too far ahead."

It was Austria's first regulation victory at the tournament. They banked three points to reach five total after five games, keeping them within striking distance of making the top four in their group and advancing to the quarterfinals.
For Kasper, the Wings' first-round pick in 2022 (at No. 8 overall), the performance built on a strong 2025 that saw him record 19 goals and 18 assists in 77 games his rookie season in the NHL. After being pretty much a bit player the first half, he thrived in the second half and rose to center the Wings' second line.

It was the second two-point game for Kasper at the 2025 World Championship. He had a goal and an assist in a shootout victory over Slovakia earlier in the week.
Overall, Kasper has four goals and an assist in five games at the tournament.
