Drake Gets Apology From 'Goof' Canadian Politician For Attending Kendrick Lamar Concert: 'I Went For SZA'
Drake's seemingly never-ending beef with Kendrick Lamar may have paused on wax, but it's seen new sparks in the last week.
Lamar's Grand National Tour had two stops in Toronto's Rogers Centre recently, and many wondered if Drake's hometown would embrace the Compton MC, and they did… overwhelmingly.
During Thursday night's show, some fans even begged for an encore, screaming 'one more time' after Kendrick performed 'Not Like Us.'
Social media erupted as fans reacted to the lack of turf loyalty to Drizzy, with concertgoers dancing to the songs that dissed the 6 God. Among the people in the crowd was Jagmeet Singh, a Canadian politician who served as the leader of Canada's New Democratic Party (NDP) from 2017 until 2025.
Drake was lurking and spotted a photo of Singh in the crowd, and it must have made him feel slighted that Singh was enjoying the show. So, using his typical trolling tactic on social media, he hopped into his DMs, messaging him, 'you're a goof,' and then posted a screenshot of it to his Instagram Stories.
Singh got wind that one of his country's biggest celebrities was criticizing him for hanging out with the opposition and released a statement apologizing, claiming he was only really in attendance to see SZA while championing all things Canada.
'I went for SZA, not Kendrick. I was born in this city. I love this city. But real talk, I get it,' he wrote. 'I shouldn't have gone at all. OVO and Drake have lifted up this city and D.'
He ends the message by picking sides, writing, 'For me it'll always be Drake over Kendrick.'
The beef has quieted down once again now that Lamar has left Canada as he readies up for the overseas leg of his tour.
Drake has also embraced the spat on his own tour, wearing a hoodie with bullet holes in its back as smoke flows out during the Anita Max Win Tour . However, he hasn't performed in Lamar's home state of California since, and his upcoming Some Special Shows 4 U shows with PARTYNEXTDOOR are only scheduled to take place in Europe.
See social media's reaction to Drake's disagreement with a politician below.

Pets Plus Us Reclaims the Skies with Silent Pet-Friendly Drone Show Featuring Portraits of Canadian Pets
Pet parents can submit a photo of their pet for a chance to be featured in a show near them TORONTO, June 18, 2025 /CNW/ -- With 67 per cent of dogs and 68 per cent of cats showing signs of fear and anxiety when they hear fireworks1, and 70 per cent2 of guardians sharing that concern, the need for more inclusive celebrations has never been clearer. This summer, Pets Plus Us, a leading pet insurance provider, is flipping the script—re-imagining holiday traditions through an animal's eyes and giving pet owners accessible, humane ways to celebrate. LIGHTING UP THE SKIES (QUIETLY) FOR PETS This summer, Pets Plus Us is introducing a pet-friendly silent drone show that mimics firework displays, giving back summer skies to the pets who've been left out of the fun for far too long. To make the experience truly personalized, Canadian pet owners are invited to submit a photo of their furry friend(s) for a chance to see their pet's face light up the skies as part of the drone show. "Celebration should never come at the cost of our pets' well-being," said Jamie Maxfield, Marketing Director at Pets Plus Us. "The drone show is about more than just fireworks — it's about reimagining tradition through empathy, safety, and shared joy. That same philosophy drives our approach to pet insurance: helping protect pets in every moment that matters." The pet-friendly drone show to #ReclaimTheSkies will take place in Toronto, Ontario on Monday, June 30th, 2025, at Garrison Commons in Fort York. The show begins at 9:30pm EST, with early arrival encouraged to enjoy the sunset. For more event details and to submit a photo of your pet, visit CARING FOR CANADIAN PETS Pets Plus Us believes true inclusion means more than bringing pets along — it means creating experiences built for them. When plans start with them in mind, everyone benefits – pets are calmer, moments richer, and our bond with them grows stronger. Pet ownership in Canada is growing with 58% of households owning a dog or cat3, yet fewer than 4%4 of Canada's 17 million pets are insured. That gap leaves many families unprepared for surprise vet costs. Pet insurance isn't just a safety net – it's a signal that we see our pets as individual family members with real rights to comfort, accessible care, and quality of life. Made in Canada and designed for Canadians, Pets Plus Us is built to fit the needs of Canadian pets and their owners. Simon Cowell stops performance of 13-year-old 'America's Got Talent' singer called 'young Justin Bieber' by judges
Chase Varnes, a 13-year-old musician from Vancouver Island in the Canadian province of British Columbia, had a scary encounter with judge Simon Cowell Tuesday on America's Got Talent. Varnes had just started singing and playing guitar when Cowell, the man who helped Nicole Scherzinger assemble One Direction on the U.K. version of The X Factor in 2010, stopped him abruptly. "I hate to do this," said Cowell, who has, in fact, stopped acts before. "I didn't love the song; however, I like you. Have you got another song?" Varnes broke into Ed Sheeran's "Life Goes On," and it was a hit with audiences and most of the judges. "You know, you remind me of a young Justin Bieber," judge Howie Mandel told Varnes, who lit up at the compliment. Like his fellow Canadian, Varnes has put in his time busking. Judge Sofia Vergara was also complimentary. "I know it's nerve-racking to be on this stage, but I thought it was better the second song," Vergara said. "Simon always knows how to stop it and make it better. I think the girls are gonna go crazy for you." The third judge, Mel B, was more cautious. "You were great," the former Spice Girl said. "You were a diamond in the rough with so much potential. But I can see your nervousness. You're not quite there yet for me." Then Mandel started the voting by giving him a "yes." While Vergara did the same, Mel B held out. "I think, give yourself another year, then come back when you're more confident,' she said. "I have to say no, I'm sorry." But Cowell saved the clear audience favorite, who only needed one more ally on the panel."Sometimes we have on people your age, and I'm like, 'Okay, I'll be sort of nicer because you're young," Cowell began. "You, I actually do believe, that you have something.... You've got everything going for you. The audience loved you, which is why you're gonna get three yeses." Later, the show's stage was overtaken with cats — or at least people dressed like them. A Baltimore artist who goes by Moshow and is known as "The Cat Rapper" rocked a hat that gave him cat ears and lyrics ("Meow, meow, meow") that did not make the judges purr. At Vergara gave him a "yes" vote, she was the only one. Cowell did, however, note that "the kids are gonna love that song." The very next act to walk onto the stage was also feline-oriented. And none of the members, who were all dressed as cats, would speak. It was too much for Mel B, who asked, "Is this some kind of joke?" But it was real. The group of a dozen or so people, called Loco Pop Familia, did a choreographed routine that left even Mel B impressed, just not enough to win her support. "You all can really dance," she said, "But. You're so annoying! The whole thing is annoying. The song is annoying. The way that you dressed as cats is not my thing." Cowell disagreed wholeheartedly and called the act "genius." He also gave them the third vote they needed to move forward. Upon hearing the good news, the contestants dropped to the floor and crawled off the stage. America's Got Talent airs at 8 p.m. ET/PT Tuesdays on NBC. Read the original article on Entertainment Weekly
