Todak have lost their identity, says their esports manager

KUALA LUMPUR: Todak esports manager Danial Aizat Rames Abdullah could not hide his displeasure after his squad failed to make the playoffs for Season 15 of the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) Professional League Malaysia (MPL MY).
Their fate was sealed over the weekend (week six) after Team Vamos and DX Soul secured victories against JP Niners and Aero Esports respectively, leaving Todak in seventh place, one spot short of the final qualifying slot.
This marks the first time the esports giants have missed the playoffs since making their debut in Season four of the MPL MY six years ago.
Danial is determined to rebuild the Todak squad ahead of Season 16 which will be held later this year.
"We have lost our identity," said Danial, better known by his nickname Abang Lord.
"I believe our players are talented. They just need the right coaching staff to guide them.
"Therefore, it is our task as top management to bring in the right coaching team.
"We will inform them of our desired direction, but the coaching team will handle recruitment and squad preparation.
"Throwing money at the problem is not going to guarantee success. We need to be meticulous in our planning"
Todak parted ways with their MLBB manager Syazlan 'Ashi' Mohd Rosdi, head coach Saiful Aujang and assistant coach Ajwad 'Kuja' Mohd Yusof after Week five.
The team played without a coach against JP Niners on Sunday (May 25). A win would have been inconsequential as Saturday's (May 24) victories for Team Vamos and DX Soul had already determined Todak's fate.
Todak's failure to reach the play-offs overshadowed Selangor Red Giants (SRG.OG) finishing the regular season undefeated for a second time.
They last achieved this feat in Season 13, when they also went unbeaten in the playoffs to claim their first league title.
League newcomer DX Soul and Team Vamos claimed the final two playoff spots, finishing fifth and sixth, respectively.
They join SRG.OG, Homebois, Monster Vicious, and Aero Esports in the post-season.
Ocean Black (OB) are relegated after finishing bottom of the league, winless.
The play-off stage of Season 15 will commence this weekend.

Stormie stars as Selangor Red Giants storm into MPL MY Grand Final

KUALA LUMPUR: Selangor Red Giants ( are on track for a third straight Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) Professional League Malaysia (MPL MY) title after sealing their spot in the Season 15 Grand Final at Juara Stadium on Sunday. The two-time defending champions brushed aside Aero eSports 3-1 in the upper bracket semi-finals to set up a blockbuster clash with Homebois, who edged DX Soul 3-2 surged to a 2-0 lead in the upper bracket final before Homebois clawed their way back to force a decider. But Hazziq Danish "Stormie" Rizwan stepped up in Game Five, delivering a masterclass on the mage hero Odette. His inspired showing proved the difference, dealing devastating area damage that left Homebois reeling. At the 16-minute mark, with leading 19-12 in kills, Stormie unleashed a triple kill that wiped out all five Homebois players, clearing the path to a swift final push and victory. The result not only booked place in the Grand Final but also made them the first Malaysian team this season to qualify for the prestigious Mid Season Cup x eSports World Cup (MSC x EWC) in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, next month. coach Michael Angelo "Arcadia" Bocado admitted his team lost their way mid-match. "We got greedy in Games Three and Four. We strayed from our comfort zone and tried high-risk compositions, and Homebois punished us," said the Filipino coach. "I'm proud the team stayed composed and closed it out. The Odette pick was key in Game Five. Their draft suggested they wanted to brawl, but Odette gave us the control we needed to counter that." will now have to wait two weeks to learn their Grand Final opponents. The second phase of the playoffs resumes on July 14-15, with Aero Esports facing DX Soul. The winner will meet Homebois in the lower bracket final, and the victor there will challenge for the title, and Malaysia's second and final MSC x EWC slot. Arcadia, however, is wary of the break. "For us, the gap is a double-edged sword," he said.

Aero eSports stun Vamos to advance in MPL MY playoffs

KUALA LUMPUR: Aero eSports turned the tables on last season's runners-up Team Vamos with an emphatic 3-1 win in the play-in stage of the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) Professional League Malaysia (MPL MY) playoffs on Saturday. Playing at Juara Stadium, Aero stormed to a 2-0 lead, wobbled slightly as Vamos pulled one back, but closed out the best-of-five series in the fourth game. The victory seals Aero's place in the upper bracket semi-finals, where they will meet back-to-back champions Selangor Red Giants (SRG. OG) on Sunday. Just last week, Vamos had edged Aero 2-1 in the regular season to clinch their playoff spot. But crucially, Aero were missing their first-choice jungler Praba "Hazle" Balakosa, 18, who had returned to Indonesia to attend his high school graduation. "We were unprepared against Vamos in the regular season," said Aero coach Abraham "Bam" Unida. "His replacement, Alang Indra 'Rannqt' Roshid, didn't have enough time to build chemistry with the team before that match. "Hazle made all the difference today. I'm proud of him. He played brilliantly and helped our mid-laner control the game's tempo." Aero, notably, remain the only team to have taken a game off SRG. OG in the regular season, in a tight 2-1 loss. Despite facing the reigning champions next, Unida is not planning any drastic shake-ups. "We'll stick with the same hero draft and play to our strengths," said the Filipino tactician. "We just need to cut down on our mistakes and make smarter decisions in-game." Joining Aero in the upper bracket semis are DX Soul, who looked clinical in their 3-0 sweep of Monster Vicious. They will take on second seeds Homebois in the other semi-final.
