Dundee Utd v Hearts: Pick of the stats

All three league matches between Dundee United and Hearts last season finished as 1-0 wins to the away side, with the Tangerines winning two of those and Hearts the other. United are looking to win back-to-back Premiership games against Hearts for the first time since March 2014. Hearts are unbeaten in five Premiership away games at Dundee United (won three, drawn two) since a 2-1 defeat in February 2016. Hearts could win back-to-back top-flight visits to Tannadice for the first time since December 2002. Dundee United have won their opening home game of a Premiership season in just one of their past five top-flight campaigns (drawn two, lost two), beating Rangers 1-0 in 2021-22. After their 2-0 victory over Aberdeen, Hearts are looking to start a league season with wins in both of their opening two matches for the first time since 2021-22. Indeed, Derek McInnes could become the first manager to win both of his first two top-flight games in charge of the club since Robbie Neilson in August 2015. In their 2-2 draw with Falkirk on matchday one, Max Watters and Ivan Dolcek both scored on their Scottish Premiership debut – no player on record (since 2005-06) has found the net on both of their first two appearances in the competition for Dundee United.

Rangers officially pull St Mirren postponement request as Ibrox chiefs perform walk back

St Mirren vs Rangers will go ahead as planned after the Ibrox club withdrew their request to re-schedule. Under new rules, Scottish Premiership clubs can request the league fixture sandwiched between both legs of European play-off ties can be postponed to help with preparations. Aberdeen and Hibs have both taken the SPFL up on their option to push back games against Dundee Utd and Falkirk respectively, although Celtic have chosen not to ahead of their Champions League playoff round encounter. READ MORE: SPFL would allow Rangers fixture postponement U-turn as St Mirren caught in middle of confusion READ MORE: Celtic fans set new title record as Rangers and Russell Martin served bleak sentence by Hotline jury Rangers have all but joined them after a 3-0 first leg victory over Viktoria Plzen in the third qualifying round, and had asked for their trip to Paisley to be rescheduled ahead of their playoff clash against either Club Brugge or RB Salzburg. However, boss Russell Martin has since claimed that nothing had been decided following a stuttering start in the league that has seen the Light Blues held away to Motherwell and at home to Dundee. If Rangers had rescheduled their trip along the M8 then their next league game would have been the visit of Celtic on August 31 and defeat to their fierce rivals, assuming the Hoops beat Livingston the previous weekend, would have seen Gers fall TEN points behind. And Nasser Djiga would also have been unavailable for the Old Firm game after he was sent off against Dundee at the weekend. But now Rangers have confirmed that they will take on Stephen Robinson's men on the original date, meaning the on-loan Wolves man will miss that game instead. A statement read: "Rangers can confirm our request to potentially postpone our Scottish Premiership match with St Mirren later this month has been withdrawn. "The game will now take place at 12noon on Sunday, August 24 at the SMiSA Stadium and be broadcast live by Sky Sports." The SPFL also said: "Following further discussions with Rangers, St Mirren, and relevant stakeholders, we can confirm that Rangers have withdrawn their request to postpone their William Hill Premiership Round 3 match against St Mirren if they reach the play-off round of the Champions League. "The match will now take place as originally planned on Sunday August 24, kick-off 12 noon, with the game to be shown live on Sky Sports."
