Ahaan Panday's ‘Saiyaara' beats IMDb's list of most romantic Bollywood films, surpassing Shah Rukh Khan's…
Mohit Suri's Saiyaara, starring newcomers Ahaan Panday and Anita Padda, has taken the No. 1 position on IMDb's list of most romantic Bollywood films. With a solid rating of 8.1, the film has surpassed several cult favourites — including many led by Shah Rukh Khan, Bollywood's undisputed king of romance. The film raked in Rs 21 crore on its first day and crossed the Rs 100 crore mark within just four days of its release. To date, Saira has earned Rs 109 crore, making it not just Mohit Suri's biggest opener ever but also one of 2025's most surprising box office storms. Did Saiyaara outrank Shah Rukh Khan's most iconic love stories? Yes, and not just one, it outranked several. Let's take a look at the current IMDb rankings: Saiyaara – 8.1 The film has already broken multiple records, its big Bollywood launch directed by Mohit Suri and backed by none other than Yash Raj Films. For a pair of newcomers, they couldn't have asked for a louder debut. The film has an IMDb rating of 8.1. Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge – 8.0 Starring Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol, this classic romance is now in second place, just behind Saiyaara. My Name is Khan – 7.9 Previously in second place, it's been pushed to third. Kal Ho Naa Ho – 7.9 Another SRK-starrer that now follows Saiyaara on the list. Jab We Met – 7.8 Shahid and Kareena's fresh romantic drama holds the fifth position. Veer-Zaara – 7.8 Yet another Shah Rukh film that has slipped in rankings. Rockstar – 7.8 Ranbir Kapoor's intense musical love story stands strong at sixth place. Raanjhanaa – IMDb rating not mentioned explicitly, but now at No. 7 This Banaras-based love story starring Dhanush continues to resonate with fans. Kuch Kuch Hota Hai – 7.5 Once considered SRK's ultimate love story, this film now ranks eighth. What makes Saiyaara stand out? Despite being a debut film for both its lead actors, Saiyaara seems to have struck a chord with the audience. Its modern storytelling, emotional depth, and sincere performances have helped it climb to the top, outperforming even the most legendary love stories.
